Why

Outcome. The README, its 8 translations and the landing site's compare pages now carry a three-way benchmark measured on 2026-10-22 with ecp 0.16.2, codegraph 1.6.2 and gitnexus 1.6.12, replacing the May numbers (ecp 0.4.2, codegraph 0.9.4, gitnexus 1.6.5). Door: two-way. Docs and generated pages only; a revert restores the old tables and the next site deploy republishes them. Blast radius: no code symbol; consumers are README.md, docs/readme_i18n/*, docs/ecp-landing/compare.json and the pages scripts/site/build_site.mjs generates from it (compare pages, llms*.txt).

Since May, codegraph moved parsing to a native Rust kernel (1.5.0) and gitnexus now finishes vscode, so three published claims were stale: "15–37× faster cold index than codegraph", "gitnexus doesn't finish on a real large repo", and "densest graph".

What changed

  • Both tables (microsoft/vscode @ 0e3051a9, abhigyanpatwari/GitNexus @ 2b44565) re-measured; versions and protocol line rewritten.
  • Verdict: ~9× (vscode) / ~17× (GitNexus repo) faster cold index than codegraph, 24–37× than gitnexus; lowest memory, smallest index and fastest queries on both corpora; on vscode codegraph and gitnexus record more edges, ecp the most nodes.
  • The gitnexus DNF footnote is replaced by a note that 1.6.5 did not finish in May and 1.6.12 finishes in 317 s.
  • compare.json updated the same way; the GitNexus suite gains the impact-baseline row; site regenerated.
  • Compare pages are now localized beyond the intro: the methodology block (versions / hardware labels, hardware and protocol text) and the table headers, metric names, cell words and footnotes go through a per-locale terms map in compare.json. A missing entry stays English. build_site.mjs gains term(); the English pages and llms-full.txt are byte-identical to before. Closes FU-2026-10-22-6c1bae3fadd4.

How to verify

Protocol: same machine (Ryzen 9 9950X, WSL2), every command under taskset -c 0-7 (8 logical cores — this host loses power under sustained all-core load), one tool at a time, 1 MiB per-file cap on all three (ECP_MAX_FILE_BYTES, codegraph's default, gitnexus --max-file-size 1024), wall time including process startup. Index medians over 5 (ecp) / 3 (codegraph, gitnexus) cold runs with a fresh index each time; queries over 7.

  • Cold-index ratio vs codegraph on vscode from three interleaved ecp/codegraph pairs: 9.4×, 8.0×, 8.2× (codegraph 82.5–83.5 s each).
  • ecp against itself on vscode, interleaved, n=5: 0.5.0 6.96 s, 0.16.1 8.60 s, 0.16.2 8.55 s. 0.16.2 matches 0.16.1; since May cold index is ~23% slower while edges grew 15%; queries got faster (inspect 51.7 → 34.6 ms) and impact --baseline 829 → 252 ms.
  • node scripts/site/build_site.mjs --check → rc 0. zh-TW and de compare pages show localized labels, metrics and shapes; no English "no such mode" left on them. grep -rn -E "166\.9|15.37|DNF|0\.9\.4" README.md docs/readme_i18n docs/ecp-landing → only the new May footnote.

Not measured: 16 cores (the May tables used 16); the host was shared with other sessions (load 5–8), so ecp absolute index times varied 8.5–12.3 s across the session, which is why the ratios come from interleaved runs. Locale prose is machine-translated in the existing style.

…egraph 1.6.2, gitnexus 1.6.12

The May tables (ecp 0.4.2, codegraph 0.9.4, gitnexus 1.6.5) no longer
describe the tools: codegraph moved parsing to a Rust kernel and gitnexus
now finishes vscode. Re-measured both corpora on 2026-10-22 under one
protocol: 8 pinned cores, 1 MiB per-file cap on all three, one tool at a
time, interleaved runs for the cold-index ratios.

The verdict changes: ~9x (vscode) / ~17x (GitNexus repo) faster cold index
than codegraph instead of 15-37x; gitnexus finishes vscode in 317 s; ecp
no longer has the most edges on vscode. Memory, disk and query-latency
leads hold.

📝 Walkthrough

The README and localized comparison pages now publish October 2026 benchmark results for ecp 0.16.2, codegraph 1.6.2, and GitNexus 1.6.12. The updates revise benchmark conditions and measurements for VS Code and GitNexus repositories, including GitNexus completion results for VS Code.

Changes: Benchmark comparison updates

Layer / File(s) Summary
Benchmark methodology and VS Code results
README.md, docs/ecp-landing/compare.*, docs/ecp-landing/*/compare/*, docs/ecp-landing/*/llms*.txt, docs/readme_i18n/README_*.md
The pages specify updated tool versions, 8-core WSL2 conditions, a 1 MiB per-file cap, and revised run counts. They replace the VS Code corpus measurements and report GitNexus 1.6.12 indexing it in 317 seconds.
GitNexus corpus results and synchronized summaries
README.md, docs/ecp-landing/compare.json, docs/ecp-landing/*/compare/*, docs/ecp-landing/*/llms*.txt, docs/ecp-landing/.page-hashes.json, docs/readme_i18n/README_*.md
The GitNexus corpus comparison now covers 7,225 files. The pages update its measurements, add impact-baseline data where reported, and revise the accompanying comparison summaries.

The benchmark pages are mergeable with bounded documentation follow-up. Localized readers will encounter English methodology text, and Portuguese readers may mistake which corpora produced the new results.

labels and text instead of the shared English content, adding the corresponding
values to compare.json for Spanish, German, Japanese, and Portuguese; then
regenerate the localized comparison pages so their methodology blocks are

VS Code file count to 14.854 and the GitNexus file count to 7.225, removing the
claim that all three tools complete that corpus. Preserve the existing
repository names and Portuguese heading style.

Non-English compare pages rendered the methodology labels and text, the
table header, metric names, corpus shapes, footnotes and the 'no such mode'
value from the English compare.json objects. Each locale now carries
versionsLabel/hardwareLabel/hardware/protocol and a terms map keyed by the
English string; comparePage falls back to English for a missing entry, so
the English wording keeps one source. Translations come from the localized
READMEs (fr/de added). English pages are byte-identical.
