[Suggestion]: Add configurable filename alignment #910

Closed

Description

@tokyob0t

Which fff frontend(s)?

Neovim plugin (fff.nvim)

What problem are you trying to solve?

Kinda related to #908

With the addition of layout.title_position, it would be nice to have a separate option to control the alignment of the filename as well.

Something like layout.filename_position would allow users to choose the alignment of both elements separately, while preserving the current default behavior for backward compatibility.

Sorry to bother, good software, honk 🪿

Proposed solution

return {
  'dmtrKovalenko/fff',
  lazy = false,
  opts = {
      layout = {
          filename_position = 'center',
      },
  }
}

    [triage-bot] REPRODUCED: Reproduced on origin/main. Branch: triage-bot/issue-910.

    Not configurable. Preview window title (the filename) is hardcoded title_pos = 'left' at lua/fff/picker_ui/preview_manager.lua:131 (file path title), :221 (Preview placeholder) and lua/fff/layout.lua:429 (initial preview window). layout.title_position from #909 only touches the prompt/list title.

    require('fff').setup({ layout = { title_position = 'center', filename_position = 'center' } })
    -- :lua require('fff').find_files()
    -- expected: path on preview top border centered
    -- actual: path always glued to left corner, filename_position ignored

    Adding layout.filename_position ('left' | 'center' | 'right'), default 'left', next to title_position. Same validation/fallback as title_position.

    Working on fix on triage-bot/issue-910.
