Getting Started

1. Create Your Account

Visit astralstash.pages.dev and click "Get Started"

• Enter your email and password (minimum 8 characters)
• Choose a name for your profile
• Click "Create account"

That's it! You're ready to start saving.

2. Save Your First Item

Save a Link:

• Click the + button
• Paste any URL
• We'll automatically grab the title, image, and description
• Add tags if you want
• Click "Save"

Write a Note:

• Click + → Note
• Choose between Markdown or Plain Text format
• Use the toolbar for formatting (bold, italic, headings, lists, code, links, images, tables, etc.)
• For images: Use direct image URLs from services like Imgur, Cloudinary, or similar
• Add tags
• Click "Save"

Capture an Idea:

• Click + → Idea
• Write your thought
• Pick a color
• Click "Save"

3. Set Up AI Features (Optional)

Configure Your AI Provider:

1. Go to Profile Settings
2. Scroll to AI Configuration
3. Choose your provider:
   • Google Gemini (Free tier available)
   • OpenAI-compatible API (OpenAI, Groq, etc.)
4. Enter your API key
5. Select a model
6. Click Test Connection to verify
7. Click Save

Your API key is encrypted and stored securely in the database.

Use AI Features:

• Chat with an item: Click the ✨ button on any card
• Knowledge Base chat: Press Cmd+Shift+K (or Ctrl+Shift+K) or click the AI button in the header
• Auto-tag: When adding an item, click "Auto-tag" to generate relevant tags
• Summarize: Click "Summarize" to get an AI-generated summary

4. Quick Tips

Keyboard Shortcuts:

• Paste anywhere: Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V) to instantly save a URL
• Search: / to jump to search
• Command palette: Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K) for quick actions
• AI Knowledge Base: Ctrl+Shift+K (or Cmd+Shift+K) to chat with your entire stash

Organization:

• Pin items: Click the pin icon to keep important items at the top
• Collections: Organize items into collections for better organization
• Tags: Add tags to items for easy filtering

Customization:

• Dark mode: Toggle in the header for comfortable viewing
• Profile colors: Choose from 6 beautiful color options in settings

Security

• Brute Force Protection: Maximum 9 login attempts, then 9-hour lockout

Install as App

AstralStash works as a Progressive Web App (PWA):

On Desktop:

• Chrome/Edge: Click the install icon in the address bar
• Or click the install button in the header

On Mobile:

• iOS Safari: Tap Share → Add to Home Screen
• Android Chrome: Tap menu → Install app

Customize Your Profile

1. Click your profile icon in the header
2. Select "Profile Settings"
3. Change your name
4. Pick a profile color (6 beautiful options)
5. Update your password if needed

AI Features

AstralStash supports AI-powered features using your own API key. Your API key is encrypted and stored securely in the database.

Supported Providers

1. Google Gemini (Free tier available)

• Models: gemini-2.5-flash, gemini-2.5-flash-lite, gemini-2.5-pro, and Gemma models
• Native Google Search support
• Get API key: Google AI Studio

2. Groq

• Models: groq/compound, llama-3.3-70b-versatile, mixtral-8x7b-32768
• Native web search on groq/compound model
• Get API key: Groq Console

3. Mistral AI

• Models: mistral-medium-latest, mistral-small-latest, mistral-large-latest
• Native web search support
• Get API key: Mistral Console

4. Anthropic Claude

• Models: claude-3-5-sonnet, claude-3-5-haiku, claude-3-opus
• Native web search support
• Get API key: Anthropic Console

5. OpenAI

• Models: gpt-4o-mini, gpt-4o, gpt-4-turbo, gpt-3.5-turbo
• Native web search support
• Get API key: OpenAI Platform

6. OpenAI-Compatible

• Works with Ollama, LM Studio, and other compatible endpoints
• Brave Search API for web search (enter API key in settings)
• Configure custom endpoint URL and model

Web Search

All providers support web search to access current information:

• Gemini: Uses Google Search (native)
• Groq: Uses Groq web search (native)
• Mistral: Uses Mistral web search (native)
• Claude: Uses Claude web search (native)
• OpenAI: Uses OpenAI web search (native)
• OpenAI-Compatible: Uses Brave Search API (enter API key in settings)

To enable web search with OpenAI-compatible providers, get a free Brave Search API key at brave.com/search/api (2000 queries/month free) and enter it in the AI settings dialog when configuring your provider.

How to Use

1. Configure AI:

   • Go to Profile Settings → AI Configuration
   • Select your provider
   • Enter API key
   • Choose a model
   • Enable web search (optional)
   • Test connection and save

2. Chat with Items:

   • Click the ✨ button on any card
   • Ask questions about that specific item
   • Get contextual answers

3. Knowledge Base Chat:

   • Press Cmd+Shift+K (or Ctrl+Shift+K)
   • Or click the AI button in the header
   • Ask questions about your entire stash
   • AI has access to all your saved content

4. Auto-tag & Summarize:

   • When adding a new item, click "Auto-tag"
   • Click "Summarize" to generate a summary
   • AI analyzes the content and suggests relevant tags/summaries
