🔥 HTTP Request Fuzzer

A lightweight Python-based HTTP fuzzing tool designed to automate payload injection and identify potential vulnerabilities in web applications.

⚡ Overview

This tool simulates real-world fuzzing techniques by sending crafted payloads to target endpoints and analyzing responses for abnormal behavior.

It is built as a foundational step toward understanding:

  • Web application security
  • Input validation flaws
  • Basic vulnerability discovery workflows

🚀 Features

  • Supports GET and POST request fuzzing

  • Loads payloads dynamically from external files

  • Automated request execution for large payload sets

  • Detects suspicious responses based on:

    • Error patterns in responses
    • HTTP 500 status codes
    • Common vulnerability indicators (XSS, SQLi patterns)
  • Logs findings for further analysis

  • Simple and clean CLI interaction

🧠 How It Works

  1. Accepts a target URL and HTTP method
  2. Loads payloads from a user-provided file
  3. Injects each payload into the request
  4. Sends requests sequentially
  5. Analyzes responses for anomalies
  6. Logs potential vulnerabilities

📊 Usage

python http-request-fuzzing-tool.py

Then provide:

  • Target URL Example: https://example.com/search?q=

  • HTTP Method GET or POST

  • Payload File Example: payloads.txt

📂 Example Payloads

"><script>alert(1)</script>
' OR '1'='1
../../../../etc/passwd
"><img src=x onerror=alert(1)>
admin' --

📁 Output

Results are stored in:

results.txt

Each log entry includes:

  • Payload used
  • Response snippet
  • Separator for readability

⚙️ Requirements

  • Python 3.x
  • requests library

Install dependencies:

pip install requests

⚠️ Limitations

  • Detection is based on simple keyword matching
  • No concurrency (sequential execution only)
  • No advanced response analysis
  • No rate limiting or evasion techniques

🛠️ Future Improvements

  • Add CLI arguments using argparse
  • Implement multithreading for faster fuzzing
  • Improve detection logic using regex and heuristics
  • Export results in JSON format
  • Add proxy support (Burp Suite integration)
  • Add header fuzzing capability

🎯 Use Cases

  • Learning web security fundamentals
  • Practicing payload-based fuzzing
  • Testing personal or lab environments
  • Building base knowledge for bug bounty
