Summary

A Context Tree can live inside a project's repository, in a standalone directory, or in a subtree of a shared GitHub repository. Sources are declared in .context-tree.json and identified by their directory or repository name.

  • Separate content, source resolution, operations, adapters, and public contracts.
  • Simplify the CLI and six agent skills; retain isolated write sessions and built-in cleanup scheduling.
  • Preserve unpublished work, recover interrupted cache locks and clones, and compare stored origin URLs independently of Git transport rewrites.
  • Remove aliases, repository provisioning, generated project instructions/workflows, and compatibility code. Bump the package to 1.0.0.

Breaking changes

Project configuration and CLI JSON use schema version 3. Public schemas are exported from @first-tree-ai/context-tree/contracts; document metadata uses schema version 1. Consumers must use the current source declarations and commands.

Validation

  • Frozen dependency installation with lifecycle scripts disabled; packaged lifecycle covered below.
  • pnpm check
  • pnpm typecheck
  • pnpm test — 99 tests passed
  • pnpm check:package — packed-package installation and CLI lifecycle checks
