Problem

Follow-up to #24 and #25. A public reference on 2026.10.27.9 recorded one hard engine reset from Media HTTP 502. The receiver, sidecar and Caddy logged nothing at that moment, so the 502 came from the edge. 502 and 504 were not retryable, so one gateway error reset the engine and jumped the viewer about 16 s forward.

Change

  • Playlist and fragment reads retry 502 and 504 like 503, inside the existing bounded schedules.
  • Player version 2026.10.27.10; docs/tv-player.md updated.
  • The version probe test uses 2026.10.27.100 so it stays newer than the current release.

Verification

  • New test: 502 then 504 then success; fails on the previous engine.
  • TV JS suites 61/61, asset check, preview tests.
  • Fault injection over the real public route (one playlist and one fragment answered 502): previous engine reset twice; this engine had no reset and no state change.

A public reference on 2026.10.27.9 recorded one hard engine reset from a
'Media HTTP 502' that the receiver, sidecar and Caddy did not log, so it
came from the edge. 502 and 504 were not retryable, so a single gateway
error reset the engine and jumped the viewer 16 s forward.

Treat 502 and 504 like 503 for playlist and fragment reads. The version
probe test now uses a value that stays newer than the current release.
