[EPIC] t27o overnight loop: dogfood on the roadmap repos, t27b-fast checks, refusal classes, competitors (feeds #10486 M2) #10522

Open

Description

@gHashTag

Goal

Make t27o (Ouroboros, specs/tools/t27o/) measurably better overnight, driven by its own output on the code of the roadmap repositories (label:roadmap, stages 1-9 behind app.t27.ai): measure where it refuses, fix the largest refusal classes in the spec, make the inner loop fast with t27b and seal reuse, and track every refusal class in an issue. This feeds M2 of #10486 (the SPICE front end is a second t27o front end beside rust_convert.t27); the M2a lane itself (#10509, spice_convert.t27) is owned by the analog loop and is not touched here.

Why it matters

t27o is the road by which foreign code is eaten into .t27 (AGENTS.md, "t27o"). On 2026-10-11 it converted 129 of 1772 fns of compiler.rs (7%), and its reuse count was 0. A converter that refuses most real code, and a --check that takes minutes per spec, cannot carry the roadmap.

Source of truth

specs/tools/t27o/rust_convert.t27, specs/tools/t27o/rust_std.t27, specs/tools/t27o/service.t27, cli/tri/src/main.rs (cmd_t27o, glue only).

Baseline measured 2026-10-18 (master 7496ed2, shared release binaries)

  • t27b test on the six t27o specs: 11+11+10+66+10+4 = 112 tests pass, 0 fail; rust_convert.t27 in 13.5 s.
  • t27c test-report specs/tools/t27o/rust_std.t27: 10/10 pass, 0 vacuous, 94 s wall on the loaded Mac; t27b test on the same spec: 0.89 s, same 10/10.
  • t27c coverage: rust_convert.t27 13 of 283 fns named by a test (5%); rust_std.t27 52 of 59 (88%); golden/install/ledger/service 100%.
  • tri t27o sample: cli/tri/src/scratch.rs 13 fns seen, 1 converted, coverage 7%. Whole-tree sweep over the Rust of t27, trios, trinity, trinity-fpga and 999-multibots-telegraf is running; results land in the ledger comment below.

Sub-tasks (opened one at a time as each starts; each its own issue and PR)

Done when (acceptance)

  • Every number in the final report comes from a command in this issue's ledger, with the commit it ran at.
  • Every refusal class with more than 1% of refused fns has an issue.
  • Coverage of rust_convert.t27 is reported by t27c coverage before and after.

How to verify

./target/release/t27b test specs/tools/t27o/rust_convert.t27
./target/release/t27c coverage specs/tools/t27o/rust_convert.t27
./target/release/t27c seal specs/tools/t27o/rust_convert.t27 --verify
./target/release/tri t27o <file.rs>

Boundary

  • May touch: specs/tools/t27o/rust_convert.t27, specs/tools/t27o/rust_std.t27, new specs under specs/tools/t27o/ other than spice_convert.t27, their seals under .trinity/seals/, generated files under gen/rust/tools/t27o/ (regenerated, never hand-edited), cli/tri/src/main.rs (glue only, within the 40-line cap), docs/t27o/, .claude/skills/tri-pipeline/SKILL.md, a new .claude/skills/t27o-loop/SKILL.md.
  • Must not touch: specs/tools/t27o/spice_convert.t27 and the extension dispatch of tri t27o (lane analog M2a: SPICE front end for t27o -- parse, flatten and inventory an ngspice netlist, or refuse with the line #10509), specs/analog/, specs/fpga/.

Risks / blockers

  • rust_convert.t27 is 8055 lines; two lanes editing it at once will conflict. One lane at a time on it.
  • The Mac is shared with the analog loop (load average above 100 at 23:05 local); builds are reused from the shared release binaries, not repeated.

Loop ledger (15 min ticks, session cron 276346d4, started 2026-10-18 23:04 local / 16:04 UTC)

This comment is the t27o loop's state. Every tick reads it first, edits it last, and never starts work a row says is running. The analog loop keeps its own ledger on #10486; lanes listed there (#10509 spice_convert.t27, specs/analog/) are not started here.

Tick Time (UTC) Did Running / waiting on Next
1 2026-10-18 16:30 Epic filed. Baseline: t27b runs the six t27o specs (112 tests) green; t27c test-report rust_std.t27 94 s vs t27b test 0.89 s; rust_convert.t27 fn test coverage 5%. Shared release binaries symlinked (no rebuild). dogfood sweep; competitor research (Sonnet) refusal histogram -> issues per class; t27b-first --check lane
1b 2026-10-18 16:50 Dogfood done: 1,388 .rs files in t27/trios/trinity/trinity-fpga/999-multibots-telegraf, 16,775 fns, 1,573 converted (9.4%), 5 files > 30 s (superlinear). Competitor map done (about 25 tools, ten weaknesses). PRs, all auto-merge squash: #10529 docs (#10527), #10538 t27b-first --check (#10525; rule in ledger.t27, 12/12, mutant caught; bound to this session with auto-fix), #10542 skills tri-pipeline fast path + new t27o skill (#10541). Filed #10526 (five refusal classes, about 2,000 first refusals) and #10534 (bug: integer ! miscompiled as boolean not, oracle tests miss the type_text use, harness keeps no_std -- found by dogfooding --check). Lane C #10526 (Sonnet, branch t27o/refusal-classes-10526, worktree scratchpad/wt-c) after #10538 merges: lane B, a tri sweep command in ledger.t27 with key_state reuse; after #10526: #10534, then the quadratic pass
2 2026-10-18 17:00 #10529 merged (docs; only red claw-sarif, inherited). Lane B #10543 started (Sonnet, branch t27o/sweep-10543, stacked on #10538). Profiled tri t27o with macOS sample: 40 % of samples in tok_end under find_struct / const_type / fn_ret_type, each rescanning the file from byte 0 per expression -> #10544. Filed #10546 (Vec / vec! without a heap, 16 % of first refusals). Anomaly: the scratchpad was wiped at about 16:53 UTC when the session resumed: lane worktrees, the cargo target and raw dogfood outputs gone; pushed branches and both agents survived; lanes told to recreate and push after every step; loop data now in $TMPDIR/t27o-loop (not wiped). Lane C #10526 (recovering), lane B #10543; PRs #10538, #10542 waiting on CI (queue about 25 runs each) review lane B / C PRs; after C: #10534, #10544, #10546 in that order
2b 2026-10-18 17:45 Self-repair: #10538 failed the REQUIRED own-language check (+9/-0 hand lines; check_budget refuses a diff whose counted foreign lines gain more than they lose, on top of the 40/80 cap). Fixed in f966f32: glue 6 lines, dead cclk_variant_and_xadc_envelope_check deleted from fpga.rs (no caller, no test), net +6/-7; auto-merge re-armed. Its other reds (Corpus ratchet, t27b-native-ratchet: 4 UNLISTED analog specs) are on master 2c02386 too: inherited. Warned the analog session (#10530 had the same shape; it deletes nownote.rs dead code) and lane B; split the dead code between the three PRs. Rule added to the skills (#10542, re-pushed 70b844f). #10550 / PR #10553: rust_std.t27 fn test coverage 88 % -> 100 % (59/59, mutant caught). #10546 filed (Vec). lanes B, C; PRs #10538, #10542, #10553 on auto-merge review B / C when they report
3 2026-10-18 18:25 #10553 merged: rust_std.t27 fn test coverage 100 % (59/59). Lane B done: PR #10587 tri t27o-sweep (warm run 0.3 s, all 377 rows reused; 23 tests; glue 34 lines offset by 42 dead lines). Review: fixed a fourth copy of starts_at (now use tri::reseal::seal::starts_at, 19d4054); explained the 7,108 vs 7,052 fn gap (the two runs excluded different big files: main.rs vs service.rs; one fn unexplained). #10587 waits for #10538 (stacked). Lane R started: Python / TypeScript / Zig / shell census of the roadmap repos (read-only, Sonnet) for the next front end. lane C #10526; lane R; PRs #10538, #10542 in CI queue (about 24 runs queued each) after #10538 merges: rebase #10587, enable auto-merge
    4 2026-10-18 18:30 Lane C done: PR #10593 (5 refusal classes + 2 extras): converted fns on the five roadmap repos 1,573 -> 1,667, converted tests 504 -> 593; first refusals Ok 474 -> 2, Err 609 -> 0, for over & 380 -> 4, ] 306 -> 59, raw strings 154 -> 0, line continuations 88 -> 0. Reviewed on Opus (t27b 81/81 re-run, seal MATCH, cargo check clean, dupes: param_at is a name clash only; one edge noted: assert_ne!(e, Err(A)) is stricter than Rust, fails visibly never silently); auto-merge on. Lane F #10534 started, stacked on #10593 (integer ! as bitwise not, the type_text use for oracle tests, no_std in the harness). lanes F and R; PRs #10538, #10542, #10587 (stacked), #10593 after #10593: #10544 (quadratic lookups); after #10538: rebase #10587
5 2026-10-18 18:40 Lane R done: front-end census of the roadmap repos (Python ast, TypeScript compiler API, coarse regex for Zig and shell). Zig 36,495 distinct fns, 10.4-38.1 % in a first subset, its own tests as the oracle; TypeScript 9,746 fns, 2.5 % (26 % async); Python 6,468, 3.7 %; shell 74-82 % orchestration. Filed #10597 (Zig front end, proposal, no roadmap label) and #10599; PR #10601 adds the census to the dogfood doc (auto-merge). lane F #10534; PRs #10538, #10542, #10587 (after #10538), #10593, #10601 in CI report + three cooperation options once the PRs land
6 2026-10-18 18:50 Report published (private artifact, owner shares it): https://claude.ai/artifact/ULWxfHCUhMc3xGigYhWK4f -- measured gains, PRs, census, anomalies, three options for the next loop (A depth: finish Rust; B breadth: Zig front end #10597; C partnership: t27o in the analog flow of #10486). Self-check before publishing caught two false sentences in the draft (a snippet mixing two files; "every class above 1 % has an issue"): fixed, and #10602 filed as the ranked backlog of the kinds no lane holds. lane F #10534; PRs in CI redeploy the report as PRs land
7 2026-10-18 18:50 #10538 merged (t27b-first --check). #10587 rebased onto master (31f8323: 3 commits, glue once, own-language +34/-42 locally, 23/23, cargo check clean), auto-merge on, auto-fix watch moved to it. Self-inflicted slip: backticks in a double-quoted python -c argument ran cargo check in the session checkout and left gaps in a PR comment -- comment repaired, stray target/debug deleted. Disk fell to 5.1 GB free: removed finished lane worktrees (about 320 MB each) and a stray build -> 7.5 GB. Report redeployed (v2). lane F #10534; PRs #10542, #10587, #10593, #10601 in CI after #10593 merges: rebase lane F if needed; then #10544
    8 2026-10-18 19:10 Lane F done: PR #10611 (#10534): integer ! -> ~ (bitmask.rs insert/clear_bit; ~(x) parentheses kept by every backend, #6549 closed), oracle tests carry the type_text use (bitmask --check 20/20), harness drops crate-level no_std/no_main/deny/forbid (ring-090 --check 25/25); 90/90 t27b, 0 vacuous. Reviewed: re-ran 90/90, seal MATCH, cargo check clean, no dupes; the one lost fn (ring-097, unknown class of t.verified) is the refuse-not-guess rule; follow-up on #10602. Stacked on #10593: auto-merge after #10593 lands + rebase. Lane P #10544 started (Sonnet), stacked on #10611. lane P; PRs #10542, #10587, #10593, #10601 (CI), #10611 (waits) rebase chain #10593 -> #10611 -> P as they land
9 2026-10-18 20:20 Merged: #10593 (5 refusal classes, +94 fns), #10587 (tri t27o-sweep), #10601 (census doc); earlier #10542, #10538, #10553, #10529. Lane P done: PR #10631 (#10544): declaration index built once per conversion; compiler.rs converts in 1.44 s (base > 600 s), count 1766 seen / 109 converted; reviewed: independent identity sample 58/58 equal (convert + --oracle), 101/101 t27b, seal MATCH, cargo check clean. Rebased #10611 onto master (cbb551d) and #10631 onto it; converter files identical to reviewed heads; auto-merge on both. Building tri from the stack tip for the end-of-night sweep of the five repos. PRs #10611, #10631 in CI; build end-of-night sweep -> report
10 2026-10-18 20:30 End-of-night sweep (same sources as baseline, stack tip master+#10611+#10631): converted 1,573 -> 1,666 of 16,775 (9.38 % -> 9.93 %), tests 504 -> 592, files over the cap 5 -> 0, all 1,388 files in 26 s (was about 25 min); with the five big files 19,402 fns / 1,841 converted. Report v4 published; end-of-night report + three options posted on this epic. #10638 filed and its error text corrected to what was observed (a bare os error). Next loop started on option A (no decision needed): lane V (#10546 step 1, vec! read-only literals, stacked on #10631) and lane X (#10638, sweep another repo, on master). lanes V, X; PRs #10611, #10631 in CI review V and X
11 2026-10-18 20:35 Lane X done: PR #10646 (#10638): tri t27o-sweep --repo <dir>, one cache per repository, a missing seal now names its path; main.rs +11/-11; 29/29; per-file counts equal the night sweep on all 1,006 files of the four other repos (trios crates 1.8 s cold / 0.16 s warm). Reviewed (re-ran tests, cargo check, own-language rc=0); tried reusing rust_converts out_is -- it drags the whole converter into the ledger and collides with machos put_text, so the 8-line test helper stays; auto-merge on. lane V; PRs #10611, #10631, #10646 in CI review V
12 2026-10-18 20:50 Lane V done: #10643 / PR #10648 (step 1 of #10546): read-only vec! -> typed array; macro vec first refusals 1,372 -> 536 on the fixed set; converted unchanged (1,666 -> 1,665): 575 of the 679 fns now past their vec! stop at a refused callee (BTreeSet in trios), added to #10602; plus a soundness fix (calls through super::/self::/crate:: now see refused fns; 10 fns had converted against stubs). Reviewed (107/107, seal MATCH, cargo check clean, no dupes); auto-merge on. Corrected one claim of mine in the #10602 comment (specs/tri/trees holds ordered trees, not a sorted-array search). PRs #10611, #10631, #10646, #10648 in CI after merges: collections (#10602) or wait for the owner on B / C
13 2026-10-18 21:00 #10611 merged (integer ! fix, oracle use, no_std harness). Rebased #10631 onto master (079522e) and #10648 onto it (097927f); converter files identical to reviewed heads; auto-merge survived the force pushes. #10646 reds were cancelled duplicates; fresh runs pass. Holding new rust_convert.t27 lanes until the stack drains (each rebase re-queues about 30 runs). Lane Z started: real-parse Zig census (std.zig.Ast, throw-away, not committed) to firm up option B (#10597) for the owner. Report v5. lane Z; PRs #10631, #10646, #10648 in CI review Z; rebase on merges
14 2026-10-18 21:10 Lane Z done: real-parse Zig census (std.zig.Ast, Zig 0.16.0, throw-away): 28,855 distinct bodies; tier 1/2/3 hand-written distinct 2,243 / 4,343 / 7,285 (coarse said 3,797 / 7,767 / 13,900); error union is the only blocker for 3.8 %; honest first-PR target about 1,052 fns with a same-file test oracle. Refuted my own claim "341 generated files naming .vibee" (402 marked files, 12 .vibee lines): corrected in #10597 (with a note) and in the report (v6); posted the census on #10597. PRs #10631, #10646, #10648 in CI rebase on merges; option B waits for the owner
15 2026-10-18 21:20 Merged: #10631 (declaration index; compiler.rs converts) and #10646 (sweep --repo). Anomaly from my own lane: #10646 brought 9 developer home paths into ledger.t27 tests, so the devhome scan is red for every later PR -> #10653 / PR #10654 (neutral /srv/checkouts paths, check prints OK, gen unchanged, seal MATCH; auto-merge). Rebased #10648 onto master (bd7f2c8, 4 commits, converter files identical). Rule added to memory. PRs #10648, #10654 in CI after #10648: collections lane (#10602)
16 2026-10-18 21:40 Owner: "continue autonomously, options A and B". #10648 and #10654 merged (12 PRs tonight; master scan green again). #10597 approved, roadmap label on; generated-Zig default: refuse marked files whole. Lanes: A2 #10764 (pure std methods: bit counts, pow, saturating_*, div_ceil, sqrt/ln/is_finite/to_bits, is_ascii, unwrap_or, get, contains; on master) and B1 #10765 (zig_convert.t27 step 1: tier-1 leaf fns + the file own tests as the oracle; on master; separate spec, so it runs beside A2). lanes A2, B1 review both
17 2026-10-19 03:15 Lane A2 done: PR #10801 (#10764): bit counts, pow, saturating_, div_ceil (unsigned), sqrt, is_finite, to_bits, is_ascii, to_ascii_ (u8), unwrap_or, slice get / contains, str contains(char); ln refused as its own kind (libm not bit-exact). Converted on the five repos 1,830 -> 1,895 (+65), method first refusals 3,207 -> 3,078. Reviewed: 128/128, coverage 159/159, seals MATCH, cargo check clean, devhome OK; five name clashes checked, none a duplicate body; auto-merge + auto-fix on. lane B1 #10765; PR #10801 in CI review B1
18 2026-10-19 03:30 Self-repair: #10801 failed duplicate-bodies (not required, so auto-merge could have landed it): 11 per-type contains_* copy the u8 bytes_contain body (types normalized) and saturating_add_u64 equals hosting/panel.t27 saturating_add. My review checked names (t27c dupes --name) but not bodies (tools/dupe_scan.py) -- rule fixed in memory. Auto-merge OFF on #10801; lane A2 resumed to delete the per-type contains (u8 only, others refused with the reason) and build saturating_add_u64 on rust_stds own checked add; no --bless` (the ledger only moves down). t27b-native-ratchet red is the inherited UNLISTED 9. lane A2 (fix), lane B1 re-review #10801, then re-enable auto-merge
19 2026-10-19 03:40 Anomaly: #10801 merged at its old head 03:22:44Z although I had switched its auto-merge off (03:17Z) for the duplicate-bodies fix; it was re-enabled 03:21:53Z from the shared account, not by this loop -- asked the merge-sweep session (c2d4a9) whether it was theirs and to leave t27o/* PRs as found. Duplicates reached master; #10817 pays them down (dupe_scan ok, groups gone, no bless; 51/51, 129/129, coverage 149/149, seals MATCH, gen identical; net -208 lines; +59 fns instead of +65). 24 2026-10-19 06:00 Merged: #10817 (duplicates paid down; master DRY clean) and #10827 (skills: night lessons). #10883 rebased on master (bf74fb4), auto-merge. t27b census (#10879 step 1): t27b runs 1,093 of 1,216 t27o specs (89.9 %), 0 disagreements with t27c in a 150 sample; of the 123 others: 58 a real t27b gap (53 of them: blockers only in code no test reaches -- t27b lowers eagerly, Zig lazily), 55 converter defects t27c rejects too (#10905), 10 fail both. Blocker issues #10897 (lazy bodies, +37), #10899, #10900, #10901, #10903. Lanes started: TB1 (#10897, t27b lazy bodies, draft PR, cli/t27b net <= 0) and TO1 (#10905, converter emits only valid t27, stacked on #10883). lanes Z2, TB1, TO1; PR #10883 in CI; #10819 draft after #10883: rebase + re-seal #10819
25 2026-10-19 06:55 #10883 merged: rust_convert.t27 fn test coverage 100 % (360/360) on master. #10819 (Zig step 1) rebased (f3e5558; gen unchanged, seal MATCH, 45/45, dupe_scan ok, cargo check clean, budget rc=0), marked ready, auto-merge + auto-fix. Lane Z2 done: PR #10918 (#10823, draft, stacked on #10819): --check / --oracle on .zig, sweep lists .zig (Zig rows keyed by both seals), imported scalar consts, std.math.pow via new zig_std.t27 (Go-style algorithm, bit-equal to Zig on 433 pow / 124 ldexp / 16 frexp vectors); Zig fns 1,837 -> 2,022; reviewed. Disk: removed my finished worktrees and caches on the analog session`s request (6.5 -> 2.7 GB; 8.5 GB free). lanes TB1, TO1; PR #10819 in CI; #10918 draft after #10819: rebase #10918, ready
26 2026-10-19 07:10 Owner: Sonnet by default for all agents. PR #10929 (#10921): model_route.t27 starts every role on Sonnet 5.5, Opus only after 2 failures or the owner`s word (6/6, mutant restoring Opus-for-orchestration fails 3/6, seal re-saved); trinity.md -> sonnet; CLAUDE.md + model-routing skill updated; auto-merge. All lanes of this loop already ran on Sonnet. Lane U started (Sonnet): #10556, the use splice drops both same-named helpers (type_text::same vs crypto::sha256::same) -- blocks --check on compiler.rs and the t27b epic #10879; rule into a .t27 spec, use_resolve.rs net <= 0, changed specs re-sealed. lanes TB1, TO1, U; PRs #10819, #10929 in CI; #10918 draft after #10819: rebase #10918
27 2026-10-19 08:25 #10819 merged (Zig step 1). Anomaly from my lane: its one-line #[path] .. mod x; mounts made tri mods orphan (line-based) bind the path to the next mod renum; -> renum.rs reported orphaned, the reachability check red on master -> #10936 / PR #10950: the parser reads the mod on the attribute`s own line; +6/-6 hand lines; 7/7 tests, the extended existing test fails on the old parser; the gate on master with the fix: cli/tri 54/54 compiled, 0 orphaned; auto-merge. #10918 (Zig step 2) rebased (Zig files identical to reviewed head; 61/38/7 tests, seals MATCH, budget rc=0, cargo check clean), ready, auto-merge + auto-fix. Owner asked to run on Sonnet: this session cannot switch its own model (the app refuses); told the owner to pick Sonnet in the model menu; all lanes already Sonnet. lanes TB1, TO1, U; PRs #10918, #10929, #10950 in CI review TB1 / TO1 / U
28 2026-10-19 10:00 Merged: #10950 (orphan-check parser; master reachability green) and #10929 (Sonnet default for every agent) -- 19 PRs tonight. Disk incident: the Mac hit 100 % (251 MB) at 16:40 local, mostly mine (a lane zig cache 2.5 GB, a lane cargo target 2.5 GB, the shared zig-local 1.1 GB); deleted the caches (2.8 -> 6.8 GB), lanes told: no new build or reference run under 8 GB, one fresh zig cache per t27c run deleted right after, one shared target. Lane TO1 done: draft PR #10976 (#10905): all 51 invalid Rust outputs now compile under t27c, 42 pass t27b; converted fns 1,890 -> 1,791 because 99 invalid conversions are now refused; 332/332, coverage 395/395. Reviewing: compiler.rs timing (TO1 met a find_enum rescan at 56 s CPU) with rustc drivers, the 2 files that convert less. lanes TB1, U; PR #10918 in CI; #10976 draft review #10976; rebase it onto master
29 2026-10-19 10:25 #10918 merged (Zig step 2: --check / sweep on .zig, imported consts, std.math.pow via zig_std.t27): 20 PRs tonight. #10976 (#10905) reviewed: rebased on master (8c6cb0b; own files identical; zig/spice/std dependents regenerate identical, all seals MATCH; 332/332; no hand lines); speed vs master with identical rustc drivers: compiler.rs 7.4 vs 8.3 s -- no regression (absolute times 3-5x the quiet 1.4 s under load ~7: re-measure master quiet); the 2 files that convert less lose fns to the GF16-name refusal (t27c renames GF16 to its builtin) -- right, rename is a #10602 follow-up; ready, auto-merge + auto-fix. Disk fell to 4.9 GB again: TB1s reference workers recreated zig-local0/1, Us target-u 2.5 GB -- caches deleted (7.3 GB), both lanes told to stop heavy runs and clean. lanes TB1, U; PR #10976 in CI review TB1, U
30 2026-10-19 19:10 #11012 merged (use splice reads a name in its own module, closes #10556; lane U): reviewed with the checklist -- gen byte-identical to a fresh regeneration, seal MATCH, 23/23 under t27b, own-language budget rc=0 (net -112), dupe_scan findings equal to its merge base, devhome rc=0; the 4 CI reds are master's (fpga-conformance systolic 216 vs 214, fpga-lint 1/60, duplicate-bodies 7 widget names, UNLISTED merge_judge) plus the new spec's own UNLISTED row (the steward's). Auto-merge refuses while a non-required check is red ("unstable"), so merged with PUT /pulls/N/merge and a sha guard. #10999 (TB1, t27b lazy bodies) marked ready: cargo test -p t27b green on linux and macos; rebased on master because the base had drifted (types ratchet Range was fixed on master by #10889; my own fixture type Gate clashed with crm-sellers, renamed LazyUnit); review catch: private ends() duplicated literal_plan ends_with, now a use; ledger rows edited in the PR (parser, deps_card -> pass; notebooklm blocker -> BenchBlock; cap 129 -> 127, precedent #10862). Head d11f776, waiting for CI. Found and fixed the issue-shape gate race (#11007, PR #11008 merged): a queued run judged its event payload and closed edited issues; 128 of 185 gate-closed issues passed their current body; 88 closed as completed (merged PR), 40 reopened with a comment, list on #11007. Sonnet is the model of this session now (owner 19:00). Lane U worktree and caches removed; 12 GB free. lane TB1 done, U done; PR #10999 in CI next t27b lane: #10899 / #10903 / #10901 / #10900 are open work again (the gate had closed them) -- reopen if still closed, then one lane per issue; Option A #10602 items; Zig step 3
31 2026-10-19 21:40 Lane A3 reported: draft PR #11064 (static mut named by its name #10829, str_chain opens with a text field #10834, int_ok 64-bit unsigned #10864). Independently verified on its head 48b379b: 333/333 under t27b, rust_std 51/51, gen byte-identical, 6 seals MATCH (rust_convert, rust_std, zig_convert, spice_convert, zig_std, ledger), dupe_scan equals its merge base, devhome rc 0; own-language hand lines +0. Honest effect: converted counts unchanged on all 12,898 fns of t27 and on trios/trinity (0 outputs differ); only 91 of 1,326 oracle files get broader sample values (28,706 -> 37,244 calls, 0 pass-to-fail). CI running, merge when the required four are green. Lane TB2 (#10899 #10903 constants + the #10999 hole #11053): draft PR #11046, 13 more t27o specs pass (Rust 421 -> 434, all agree with t27c), own-language gate still red until its deletions land; resumed. Lane A4 started: #10546 step 2, a fn returning Vec built by push in the out-buffer form (child issue to be filed by the lane). Gate-race duplicate: #10662 (claw lane, with a replay spec) is the same defect as my #11007; #11008 implements its proposed fix; both closed. Disk 6.6 GB with two lanes building; watcher armed at 4 GB. lanes TB2, A4; PRs #11046 draft, #11064 in CI merge #11064; review TB2; then report artifact rewrite (stale: 04:20 version)
32 2026-10-19 23:40 Merged tonight since row 31: #11064 (three converter defects, no converted count changed), #11046 (t27b constants + the #10999 hole; t27o specs run natively 1,131 -> 1,144 of 1,216 = 94.1%; 0 reference disagreements). Review rule applied to both: four required checks + corpus ratchet + cargo tests (t27b-native-linux/macos) green, every other red compared with master's (fpga-conformance, fpga-lint, duplicate-bodies 15 = 15, t27b ratchet UNLISTED/STALE, scan = the analog session's doc, fix #11084); merged with a sha-guarded PUT, not before the slow checks. I made the ledger commit myself when TB2 reported it had not (schema.t27 pass, cap 127). Machine: free disk fell to 759 MB at 16:16Z with none of my jobs running (swap + load 50 across 5 lanes of 3 sessions); gave back both idle lane worktrees; lane A4 stopped at 46b3eff (Vec out-buffer rule pushed, 3 commits), to be resumed with SendMessage when free disk >= 8 GB (watcher armed). Report artifact rewritten twice (version 8+), source $TMPDIR/t27o-loop/t27o-night-report-v9.html. Queued: #11070 (tri pr preflight gets the budget + home-path rules), then Python front end (option B), then fresh five-repo sweep on a rebuilt tri. lane A4 stopped; no open PR of the loop resume A4 at 8 GB; then #11070 lane; re-measure
33 2026-10-20 01:40 Merged since row 32: #11109 (Vec out-buffer, +4 converted fns; whole-corpus sweep: 0 dropped, 0 pass->not-pass), #11125 (tri pr preflight spec: own-language budget + home-path rules; on #10538's real head the budget rule FAILs), #11127 (t27o-sweep root attribution: cascades 4,468 -> 696 unfollowed, 85 files convert whole; the real command not yet run end to end, CI compiled the glue). Finding: the Rust converted share is flat (9.93% -> 9.88%) because 64% of first refusals are heap/path/IO families; report now has "The Rust ceiling". Correction: tri pr preflight has no glue (parked); filed #11126 (land it net-zero). Issues filed from lane findings: #11111 #11112(closed by #11109) #11113 #11122(closed) #11126 #11128. Lane R1 running: #11111 + #11113 + #11128 in one PR. Report artifact version 12. Peers: analog session fixed master scan (#11084). lane R1 review R1; then a tri build (disk >= 8 GB) to run tri t27o-sweep for real and to land #11126; Python front end (#8995/#9006)
34 2026-10-20 02:20 Merged: #11130 (converter trio: #11111 caller of an out-buffer String fn refused with a reason; #11113 oracle of regex_lite_global now records count 2, was 0 on all seven calls; #11128 refusals name the self impl type): sweep over all 1,388 files, unattributed cascades 696 -> 58 (47 type aliases, 9 extern fns, 2 assert), 0 converted fns lost, 0 files pass -> not-pass, 153 changed output specs differ in refusal comments only. All gates green except the two reds master has (Verilog widths: widget session fixes in #11107; t27b ratchet: UNLISTED/STALE + the lab spec's jit/interp mismatch, filed #11131 and sent to the lab session). Filed: #11135 (Vec parameters: measure first, then slice for read-only, out-buffer for push-only). Lane A5 running on #11135 (id a037e1417ea33fed4, branch t27o/vec-params-a5), told to report the split table first and open no rule PR if the form is not worth it. Report artifact version 13. Still open and gated by disk >= 8 GB (tri build): #11126 (land the preflight glue net-zero), the real tri t27o-sweep run; #11131 t27b mismatch. lane A5 review A5; then tri build for #11126 and the sweep run; Python front end #8995/#9006
35 2026-10-20 03:20 Two measured nos: lane A5 (#11135, Vec parameters = 87 of 1,289 type Vec refusals, ceiling 1 fn) and lane A6 (#11145, iterator chains with a one-expression closure: 676 lowerable, 17 convert end to end, 32 with callers = 0.17% vs the 1% target); no rule PR for either, both issues closed not planned with the tables. Combined with the flat share (9.93% -> 9.88%) this moves the lever from converter rules to the FILE: 85 Rust files convert whole; #9000 step 4 (golden PRs, hand Rust deleted, net-negative). Filed #11149 (rank the 85 by lines deleted and callers touched) and started lane A7 (analysis + a docs file, no Rust change). Rule recorded: measure first, write the rule only above a stated threshold. Report artifact version 14 (Option A reframed to golden PRs). Peers: lab session fixed the lab spec's jit/interp mismatch in #11136 (#11131). lane A7 review A7 table + doc PR; then first golden port (needs tri build, disk >= 8 GB); #11126 glue; Python #8995/#9006
36 2026-10-20 04:45 FIRST GOLDEN PORT MERGED: #11157 (0e00974): bootstrap/src/host/bitmask.rs (170 lines) -> specs/host/bitmask.t27 + generated bootstrap/gen/rust/host/bitmask.rs; hand lines +1/-171. Evidence: 756,232,068 side-by-side comparisons of the old hand file and the generated one, 0 disagreements (12.85M out-of-contract calls panic on both); real t27c crate cargo check --all-targets ok, cargo test -p t27c host:: 577 pass; spec 26/26, vacuous 0, coverage 16/16, seal MATCH; 46 CI checks, 44 green, the 2 others are master's (Verilog widths from two widget specs - fix in the widget session's #11107 - and the t27b ratchet's steward rows). Public differences stated in the spec header (const fn -> fn; FieldDesc methods -> free fns; no PartialEq/Eq); nothing uses them. Also merged: #11155 (A7's ranked candidates: 85 whole files, 80 rows, 3,006 hand lines = 0.69%). tri built from master (1 m 33 s) and the real tri t27o-sweep verified (exit 0, 386 files cold 1.5 s). Next: lane A8 on #11159 (per-function golden prize: converted fns in partly converting files, which can move without changing a caller; analysis only). Watch master's post-merge build-and-test on 0e00974. lane A8 read A8 table; if a movable group >= 200 lines exists, port it like #11157; #11126 glue; Python #8995/#9006
37 2026-10-20 05:50 Merged: #11160 (lane A8, per-function golden prize, closes #11159): 223 partly converting files, 817 converted fns, 6,555 hand lines (1.51% of 435,491 swept); MOVABLE with no caller change 146 fns / 1,375 lines (0.32%), only 217 lines in the t27 workspace crates (largest bundle 45 lines, cli/tri/src/fpga.rs); NOT-NOW 617 fns / 4,774 lines (methods and hand-file types 477, gen-rust output that does not compile 68, trait impls 38). First bundle >= 200 lines: the 7 movable fns of rings/ring-092-rust/src/lib.rs, 201 lines (28 crate tests pass with the mount in a scratch copy, 8,560,045 comparisons 0 disagreements; specs/nn/attention.t27 already declares four of those fns with another argument order: reconcile first). 44 of 187 rows valid-output: unchecked (t27c runs stopped at 3.8 GB free). Conclusion for Rust: converting existing Rust deletes at most ~1% of hand lines (whole files 3,006 + movable fns 1,375); the first deletion (#11157) is merged. Filed #11168 (Python debt census, measure first for #8995) and started lane A9 (analysis + docs file). Master build-and-test green on the first-port merge commit. Owner decision recorded in the report (version 16): "start language features" (heap-free collections etc.) is not started; default = options A (delete what converts, ring-092 first) and B (Python, only above 150 lines). lane A9 read A9 table; ring-092 port; #11126 glue
38 2026-10-20 06:35 Python census (lane A9, #11168, PR #11176 docs, in CI): 812 of 331,183 distinct hand-written non-test Python lines (0.25%) in functions that fit the typed subset today, 4,090 (1.23%) with inferred parameter types (the #8995/#9006 design), +5.0% (16,577 lines, 1,293 fns) pure but blocked only by heap values; 0 whole-file candidates >= 150 lines (the threshold set before the measurement), median in-subset fn 6 lines; scanner 30/30 on the final hand-checked sample. Verdict commented on #8995 and #9006: no Python front end now. Conclusion across Rust and Python: conversion deletes ~1% of hand lines; the bound is what t27 cannot say (owned strings, collections, closures, tuples). Request-dont-ask default taken: filed #11177 (RFC for heap-free collections / owned strings / inlined closures) and started lane R2 (id af10486b5f0c42304, branch t27o/rfc-heap-free-r2): a document with >= 3 options, measured demand, recommendation and one experiment needing no compiler change; no compiler work until the owner says "start language features". Report artifact version 17. lane R2; PR #11176 in CI merge #11176 when green; read R2's RFC; ring-092 port (201 lines) as option A demonstration; #11126 glue
39 2026-10-20 08:00 RFC delivered (lane R2, PR #11180, docs, in CI): docs/now/2026-10-20-heap-free-collections-rfc.md (981 lines). Recommendation: NONE of the five constructs now (Buf(T), Vec(T,N), arenas, inlined closures, owned strings as buffer+count): the whole package converts 30-64 more Rust fns (0.15-0.33%) and deletes 15-139 hand lines at the rates measured (best end-to-end ~1.3 per 100); bar for building anything = a pilot rate >= 15 in 100 (experiment X2, sized, not run). Experiment X1 (4 census functions by hand in the proposed forms): 9/9 under t27c and t27b, 9/9 mutants killed, generated Rust compiles, generated C does not (12 errors), generated Verilog does not elaborate (20). Seven back-end defects D1-D7 filed: #11181 (gen-c writes [7] ** 4 as {0}: SILENT MISCOMPILE, reproduced by me on a t27c built from master 16c7dcf, C run aborts Assertion failed third() == 7; no committed gen/c file carries the pattern), #11182 (gen-rust D1-D3), #11183 (gen-c D4/D5 + gen-verilog D7). Lane L1 (id a89c171a673efe742, branch t27c/gen-c-repeat-l1) fixes #11181: probe matrix first, failing test first, compiler.rs FROZEN_HASH + own-language rules. Python census merged (#11176); report artifact version 19 (decision section now: default = build no construct; "start language features" would start from option (a)). lane L1; PR #11180 in CI merge #11180 when green; review L1 (compiler change: full CI + cargo); then #11182/#11183; ring-092 port
40 2026-10-20 08:45 Merged: #11180 (RFC, closes #11177: build NO heap construct now; bar 15/100, best 1.3/100) and #11192 (closes #11181): the silent gen-c miscompile [7] ** 4 -> {0} is FIXED (cf2d61e). Probe matrix 408 cells: 137 wrong on master, 0 now; cause = the parser gives a repeat's single element two shapes and the C arm handled one; compiler.rs +40/-42 (net -2), FROZEN_HASH verified by me = SHA-256 of the file at the head; 66 of 2,857 gen-c outputs changed (zeros -> real values), 3 list-repeat specs now REFUSED loudly and ledgered (suite_expectations 66 -> 69, expires 2026-11-30, issue #11181), 1 spec fails loudly on clang (HirIpCatalog_new). First CI run caught 16 stale seals the lane had misjudged as "already stale on master" (it checked nothing against master's runs) + a type-name collision: both fixed before merge; lesson = an emitter fix re-seals every spec whose output it moves, and check_seal_coverage.py + check_seal_currency.py are the two local gates to run before pushing. Disk: deleted target-tri/debug (2.5 GB), free 6.5 GB. Master post-merge build-and-test on cf2d61e was still running at 08:45: READ IT FIRST next tick. Open: #11182 (gen-rust D1-D3), #11183 (gen-c D4/D5 + gen-verilog D7), ring-092 port (201 lines), #11126 glue. Report artifact version 20. none running check master CI on cf2d61e; then #11182/#11183 lanes
41 2026-10-20 09:35 tri pr preflight EXISTS (#11207, 0543510, closes #11126): glue 40 lines in prcheck.rs paid by deleting 52 dead lines in inflight.rs (net -12, no exception file; honest limit: of 11 never-used items only the Merge/merge_outcome pair + 3 tests was truly dead). 13 rules, exit 0/1/2; 7 real runs (clean PASS; copied body, +9/-0 shape, home path each FAIL their own rule; stub output and missing t27c = UNREAD exit 2); full run with the corpus ratchet 13/13 PASS in ~11 min; found and fixed a spec defect (bare mktemp -d ignores TMPDIR on macOS). I dogfooded it on my own skills branch (exit 0). Master post-merge CI for the compiler fix (cf2d61e): build-and-test, validate, test-ratchet, coverage, spec-guards, both cargo-test jobs all green; reds = Verilog widths (widget session #11107) + Scorecard. Skills: #11209 / PR #11210 (docs, auto-merge armed) puts tri pr preflight --quick and the day-two lessons into the t27o skill. Lane L2 (id af5fb0fe2d194887b, branch t27c/gen-rust-slices-l2, #11182) running; its brief carries the emitter-fix recipe (local seal checks, output diff over all specs). Report artifact version 21. Next: L2 review (compiler change: full CI), then #11183 (gen-c/gen-verilog) serialized after L2 (both edit compiler.rs), ring-092 port. lane L2; PR #11210 auto-merge review L2; #11183; ring-092

    Lane order on rust_convert.t27 (one at a time): #10526 -> #10534 -> #10544 (quadratic lookups) -> #10546 (Vec) -> per-fn tests (coverage 5% ->).

Rules for every tick: git ls-remote origin | grep t27o/ and open PRs before starting a lane; at most 2 subagents from this loop (the analog loop runs 3 on the same 8 GB Mac); merge only when required checks are green (claw-sarif App-permission red is inherited); never touch #10509's files; to change a PR under auto-merge, disable it, push, enable again.

Wall time, all 1,388 files about 25 min 26 s
Including the five big files did not finish 19,402 fns, 1,841 converted (9.49 %)
    t27b test vs t27c test-report, rust_std.t27 - 0.89 s vs 94 s, same 10/10
    tri t27o-sweep warm vs cold - 0.3 s vs 47.8 s

    Merged: #10529 (dogfood baseline + competitor map), #10553 (rust_std.t27 fn tests 100 %), #10538 (--check judges with t27b first), #10542 (skills: fast path, t27o skill, net-zero hand-code rule), #10593 (five refusal classes), #10587 (tri t27o-sweep), #10601 (front-end census). In CI, auto-merge: #10611 (#10534: integer ! miscompile, oracle use, harness no_std), #10631 (#10544: declaration index, compiler.rs converts).

Filed for the next loop: #10546 (Vec without a heap, the largest refusal block), #10602 (ranked backlog of every first-refusal kind above 1 % no lane holds), #10597 (Zig front end, proposal), #10638 (tri t27o-sweep cannot sweep another repository).

Three ways to work together in the next loop (detail in the report page the owner holds):

Not claimed: converted means a body was written; golden means equal on recorded vectors, not a proof. Coverage did not reach 100 % overnight; rust_std.t27's function tests did, and every refusal kind above 1 % now has an issue.
