Summary

  • Closes item feat(flared): serve the artifact store under /artifacts for durable URLs #131. sdd_loop/finalize now read item id, dispatched agent names (implementer/judge), and notify recipient from WorkItemData at execution time instead of closing over them at step-registration time.
  • A run resumed by engine().recover() after a crash now dispatches against the real item/agents/prompts it persisted, not a placeholder identity — the boot-time recovery registration in dashboard/server.rs no longer needs to register a dummy definition.
  • Adds crash_mid_sdd_loop_resumes_against_the_persisted_item_and_agent, an end-to-end test driving two WorkflowEngine instances against the same on-disk SqliteStore to prove a run started by one process resumes correctly in another.

Test plan

  • cargo test --bin agentflare work_item_pipeline — 57 passed, 2 pre-existing ignores
  • cargo test --bin agentflare dashboard::server — 24 passed
  • cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --all-features -- -D warnings -A unsafe_code -A clippy::pedantic (matches CI) — clean
  • scripts/loc-gate.sh — within limits

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved workflow crash recovery by preserving work-item details and resuming interrupted tasks with the correct data and agent.
    • Prevented stale registration settings from affecting concurrent or recovered work items.
    • Malformed judge responses continue through retryable failures instead of terminating workflows unexpectedly.
  • Tests

    • Added end-to-end coverage for crash recovery and completion after engine restart.
    • Updated pipeline and finalization tests for persisted work-item configuration.

…resume

sdd_loop/finalize now read item id, dispatched agent names, and notify
recipient from WorkItemData at execution time instead of closing over
them at step-registration time. A run resumed by engine().recover()
after a crash now dispatches against the real item/agents/prompts it
persisted, not a placeholder identity.

Adds an end-to-end test (crash_mid_sdd_loop_resumes_against_the_persisted_item_and_agent)
that drives two WorkflowEngine instances against the same on-disk
SqliteStore to prove a run started by one process resumes correctly
in another.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The work-item pipeline now persists item and agent identity in WorkItemData. Reusable pipeline definitions read this context at execution time. New runs seed complete data, and recovered runs resume with their stored context.

Changes

Work-item pipeline context

Layer / File(s) Summary
Persisted context and identity-neutral steps
src/work_item_pipeline.rs
WorkItemData stores item, agent, judge-agent, notification, and owner identity. SDD and finalize builders now read these values during execution.
Run initialization and crash recovery
src/work_item_pipeline.rs, src/dashboard/server.rs
New and redispatched runs seed complete workflow data. Boot recovery registers an identity-neutral pipeline definition.
Pipeline and recovery test coverage
src/work_item_pipeline/*_tests.rs
Tests use persisted execution context and verify that a pending dispatch resumes with the stored agent and task body.

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 1dbac

The change updates crash-resume execution to use persisted work-item data and adds end-to-end coverage; the only identified issue is a minor test timeout assertion that could make failures less self-describing. No actionable merge-blocking production risk remains.

📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Assert that task 0 completed before simulating the crash.

The wait loop exits after 200 iterations whether or not task0_done became true. If the LoopIteration journal entry does not appear within the 4-second budget, the test continues to the recovery phase anyway. The failure then surfaces at Line 575 as a missing task-1 dispatch, which hides the real cause: task 0 never completed in process 1.

Assert the flag after the loop so a timing failure names itself.
