chore: Vent escalation sweep has no exit condition once an item is triaged-but-not-closed — re-escalates forever - #761
Conversation
sweep_escalations only paused an item once it moved to started/in_review or fully closed. An item left open with a duplicate/relates_to relation recorded (the tracker's own triage signal) kept re-escalating every SLA tick forever and had its priority force-reset on each pass -- #484 racked up 71 escalation comments over three weeks after being folded into #483. Add a held state: an open escalation whose item carries a duplicate or relates_to relation is skipped instead of re-escalated, and its priority is left alone. Reported via a new ConsolidateReport.held count. When
state.group_nameis"started"or"in_review", the earlier arm acknowledges an open escalation before thehas_triage_relationarm runs. An open escalation with aduplicateorrelates_torelation is therefore acknowledged instead of remaining open and held.Keep the completed/cancelled arm first, then check
has_triage_relation, followed by the started/in_review arm. Add a test for a related item in"started"state.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

An escalation on an item claimed into started/in_review with a duplicate/relates_to relation was being acknowledged instead of held, since the started/in_review arm ran before has_triage_relation. Held now takes precedence so a related item stays open regardless of state. CodeRabbit finding on PR #761. Addresses CodeRabbit finding on PR #761: has_triage_relation swallowed list_relations_by_type errors as "no relation", which could let a transient DB error re-escalate or clobber priority on a row whose triage status was actually unknown. Now an error skips the row entirely instead of treating it as untriaged. Done. Fixed
sweep_escalationsinsrc/vent/consolidate.rsso an open escalation whose item carries aduplicateorrelates_torelation (the tracker's own "already triaged, tied to another item" signal — item #269's evidence for #484/#483) is held instead of re-escalated, and its priority is no longer force-reset each SLA tick.
