- Around line 251-276: Wrap the explicit-item_id branch’s merge_item_metadata
call and item::update call in one crate::mcp_server::in_immediate_tx transaction
so either both writes commit or neither does. Preserve the existing metadata and
assignee updates, and map transaction errors through the branch’s existing error
handling.

Fixing stale-snapshot rewrites — hunting dispatch writers.
Core dispatch writer is already safe — scanning for the remaining snapshot writers.
Found two stale writers — checking dispatch path for more.
Two stale writers confirmed — checking bridge sync writers too.
Now checking remaining writers in cli/ before editing.
Audit complete — three writers left. Applying fixes now.
Fix 3: bridge
store_hash.Fixes in. Now the regression test — checking existing handoff test setup.
That test draft is convoluted — rewriting cleanly.
My test module can't reach sibling helpers — moving the test into the existing
mod tests. All edits done — verifying build and tests now.
Fmt parse error in failover.rs — inspecting brace balance.
Fmt clean. Building and running targeted tests.
Build passes with 2 new dead-code warnings — checking remaining users of those helpers.
Warnings clean. Running targeted tests.
LOC gate: item_tests.rs over frozen limit. Relocating my test instead.
Moving the failover test into
failover.rsand reverting theitem_tests.rsgrowth.Gate green. Re-running tests after the move.
All green. Final diff review, then commit.
Done, committed as 9a5ca2b on task/353 branch.
What I did: audited every
metadata: Some(...)wholesale writer and fixed the three that could still revert a dispatch'sworkflow_run_id(plus kept the prior round's four merge conversions in the same commit):handoffexplicit-item_idbranch: snapshot rewrite →merge_item_metadata(depth monotonic viamax) + field-only assignee update.quota::failover::record_failover: DEFERRED tx →in_immediate_tx, serializing the model-pin drop againstpersist_run_id.store_hash: read-then-write →merge_item_metadata; removed the now-unused snapshot helpers (with/without_last_hash).Tests (all foreground): 3 new regression tests (handoff/failover/store_hash each preserve
workflow_run_id); suites green — handoff 90, item_tests 102, bridge 111, quota 37, orphan_reconcile 25, failover 8, items 5.cargo fmt, clippy (no hits on touched files), and loc-gate all clean.Concern: the generic
item updateAPI is still wholesale-replace by design (only plan fields are guard-railed per #300) — a stale client snapshot there can still clobberworkflow_run_id. Left as-is since that's explicit user intent, but flagging in case the next round wants the guard extended.Opened by
