Summary

  • MCP schedule actions map a linked-worktree worktree_repo_root_override to the main checkout before storing repo_root.
  • A main-checkout candidate must be its own repo toplevel and share the linked worktree's normalized --git-common-dir, so a bare repo nested in another checkout is rejected instead of stored.

Test plan

  • canonical_repo_root_rejects_main_candidate_from_another_checkout
  • canonical_repo_root_maps_linked_worktree_to_main_checkout
  • schedule_create_normalizes_linked_worktree_override_to_main_checkout
  • cargo fmt --check

Opened by cursor-cli on i-flare-51bb8de6c33b (flared:51bb8de6c33b) for item #374 via agentflare.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Schedule operations started from a linked worktree now use the main checkout’s repository path.
    • If the main checkout cannot be reliably identified, scheduling reports an error instead of using an unrelated enclosing checkout.
    • Improved repository detection for nested and bare repositories to avoid resolving operations to the wrong checkout.
    • Schedule operations from regular, non-linked worktrees continue to use the supplied repository path.

MCP schedule ops stored a worktree override as given, and a candidate
inside another checkout passed a mere toplevel check. Require the same
normalized git-common-dir and that the candidate is its own repo toplevel.

📝 Walkthrough

The change validates main-checkout resolution for linked worktrees and uses the resolved main-checkout path for schedule operations. Schedule root resolution returns an error when it cannot identify a valid main checkout.

Changes: Linked worktree root resolution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Validate main-checkout candidates
crates/flare-git-core/src/branch.rs
main_worktree_root validates the common directory’s parent against the repository toplevel and normalized common directory. Private helpers obtain and compare normalized paths.
Resolve roots for schedule operations
src/mcp_server/workflow.rs, src/schedule/mod.rs, src/schedule/tests.rs
Schedule operations resolve linked-worktree roots to the main checkout and return an error when resolution fails. Tests cover the stored canonical main-checkout path and reject an enclosing checkout for a nested bare repository. The Git test helpers use flare_git_core::shell::run_in.

Explanation

The title clearly identifies the schedule worktree-root normalization and git-common-dir validation changes. It is longer than preferred and includes review context, but it remains specific and related to the main change.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description includes the required Summary and Test plan sections and explains the main behavior changes. It does not include the required Notes for reviewers section, and it does not report cargo test or cargo clippy results, but the description is otherwise sufficiently complete.

Hook-spawned tests inherit GIT_DIR and GIT_WORK_TREE, which point fixture
git commands at the caller's checkout. Route them through run_in, which
already strips those variables.

edge cases from PR 916, with a test for each, then run formatting and the PR checks in the foreground. The override and git-common-dir checks live in the MCP server and schedule crate. I'll read those paths and the current PR state before changing them.`ctx_read` hit a filesystem lock, so I'll read the schedule and MCP files directly and check PR 918.The branch already has a schedule-scope commit.
