I'd love to get an AIS data feed to be able to show actual real-time position and detect how far off-schedule the ferry is.
There's some commercial services (eg: MarineTraffic, Vesselfinder) but they're too expensive (given this is a free site). The non-commercial options (aishub, aisstream, openwaters, aiscatcher) have coverage gaps -- especially around the Kingston dock -- are rate-limited to once a minute or slower, and aishub and aiscatcher don't have open APIs. Aisstream only provides about 3 position reports per ferry trip.
Absolute ideal is someone with line-of-sight to the ferry could run an AIS receiver with something like https://www.aiscatcher.org/quickstart and provide me direct access to the raw feed. Unfortunately I'm too far away to get a signal.
