The issue here is our "trimming" mechanism together with the Table component's cell styles. Reminder: the Table component is not yet released (alpha) – I don't know what the state of it actually is, but there sure are reasons it hasn't been released yet (most probably because it has issues and is not finished).

Having said that, our trimming mechanism works as follows (similar to how the Material renderer does it):

• If the trim option is set to false (as it is the case in the example) we set width='100%' on the Picker component, to let it eat up the full available space of its container.
• If the trim option is set to true, we don't set any width. I this case the default width of the component will take effect and the Picker won't fill up the available space if the container is larger than the component. Because of the fixed width, it has the side effect so span-up its container if the container is smaller than the component (happens in our example).

The problem is that the React Spectrum Table component wraps our Picker component in a cellWrapper DIV element (full cell width), a cell DIV element (also full cell width) and a cellContents SPAN element (not full cell width). Now within that SPAN, we have no possibility to take up the available cell space. I think it's a bug of the Table component that this SPAN hasn't full cell width.

There are workarounds we could do, all with there own problems:

• We could override the styles of the cellContents component and change the Table components default behavior. But this will lead to problems when the Table component updates (which it will).
• We could set the min-width of the Picker component to the default width. This would fix the basic display of the Picker, but the trim mechanism still wouldn't work as expected.

I suggest to wait for the Table component to be released. Otherwise we start fixing React Spectrum bugs, which definitely is out of scope for us.

To make it work in the short term, I've implemented workound 1. We should remove it, once the Table component fixes this issue.
