Overview

Fixes the Create Release GitHub Actions workflow, which failed on the v2.0.6 tag push.

Changes

  • Add an actions/checkout@v4 step before the gh release create step in .github/workflows/release.yml, so the workflow has a git repository to operate on. Without it, the job failed with fatal: not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git.

Related Issues

Follow-up from the v2.0.6 release (PR #240), where this workflow failed and the GitHub Release had to be created manually.

Checklist

  • Self-review done (following review.prompt.md)
  • Hugo production build passes: cd exampleSite && hugo --gc --minify (unaffected; workflow-only change)
  • Docs updated if behavior changed (no doc changes needed)
  • No unrelated changes included
  • No unnecessary commented-out code included

Notes for Reviewers

  • No way to fully exercise a tag-push-triggered workflow without pushing a tag; change is minimal and mirrors the existing checkout step/version used in ci.yml.

The release workflow invoked gh release create without checking out
the repository first, causing a 'fatal: not a git repository' failure
(observed on the v2.0.6 tag push). Add an actions/checkout step
before the release step, consistent with ci.yml.
