GlassAudio is an Apple Silicon-only macOS 26 menu bar utility for precise, modern audio control. The project is built around a native SwiftUI menu bar surface, a small Core Audio control layer, and a clean separation between working controls and future real-time audio routing.
The current build is intentionally small: Mac output volume is live. Per-app mixing stays out of the UI until the virtual mixer path can actually change app audio.
- SwiftUI + AppKit menu bar utility with no Dock icon by default.
- Liquid Glass-oriented controls using native SwiftUI glass surfaces.
- Core domain models:
AudioSource,MixProfile,DuckingRule,RecordingSession, andCaptureDeviceState. - C++ DSP core exposed through a C ABI for gain, pan, and limiter operations.
- Real master output volume control through Core Audio.
- Core models and DSP utilities for future process taps, per-app mixing, recording, and external capture.
- Unit tests for DSP, ducking, persistence, process identity, and ring-buffer behavior.
Requires Xcode 26.4 or newer with Swift 6.3.
./script/build_and_run.shThe script builds the SwiftPM executable, stages dist/GlassAudio.app, and launches it as a foreground macOS app bundle.
GlassAudio is an original implementation. Do not copy third-party source, assets, bundle identifiers, UI structure, build scripts, or driver internals into this repository.
The menu bar utility can control the Mac's default output volume. Real per-app volume control, process tap capture, recording, and the HAL virtual input bundle still need entitlement-backed implementation and hardware testing.
- Add live process tap discovery after it can report real app audio.
- Implement the virtual mixer path required for real per-app volume control.
- Build the optional
GlassAudio Captureinput device for external recorders. - Add signed and notarized public release artifacts.
