The crm integration branch, ready for release. It holds the CRM security fixes from the Breeze Buddy Security Findings report, plus one refactor Swaroop asked for. Each one was reviewed and merged into crm on its own PR.
Please merge with "Rebase and merge" so the 6 commits land on release as they are. crm sits directly on top of release (7b65b791), and release has no commit that crm lacks.
Rebased 3 Nov onto release7b65b791.release had gained the assist integration (5 commits) and 2 more commits. The only conflict was .github/workflows/pr-build-check.yml: assist's ci: run PR Build Check on PRs into the assist branch and our commit 1 edit the same two lines. I kept both: the check runs on PRs into crmandassist, and the commit-count step is skipped for either integration branch. Commits 2–6 carry over unchanged (identical patches).
/ingest/events, /ingest/schemas and the webhook bays cap the bytes actually read (1 MB, CRM_INGEST_MAX_BODY_BYTES) before parsing and auth. The archive middleware follows the same cap
A merchant connects only its own Shopify shop: the shop is the merchant id, and only for BB_SHOPIFY merchants. merchant_scope returns 400 when the query and the body name different merchants, on all 32 merchant routes
SSRF guard on template HTTP functions, every MCP path and lead reporting_webhook_url: resolve, refuse internal answers, pin to the checked IP, re-check every redirect. Egress tests move to tests/egress/, which CI now runs
The route classes move to app/crm/shared/routes/ (classes.py, utils.py) so any api.py can subclass them; no behaviour change (same route table, same codes, same cap)
Verified
Tests on the rebased tip c34c5dbb: CI's command pytest tests/crm tests/egress1816 passed; full pytest tests4976 passed, 0 failed. pyrefly 0 errors; black, the CRM boundary guard and the migration guard are clean. The workflow file parses and lists main, release, crm, assist.
Prod traffic: nothing that works today is refused.
/ingest/events: 12.6 M requests over 11–30 Oct, 0 × 413. The largest Flipkart event is 7.3 KB against the 1 MB cap.
The 32 merchant_scope routes: 669 requests over 11 Oct–2 Nov, all from console users, 0 with two different merchants.
Template HTTP functions: 6 hosts, all HTTPS and public.
Lead webhooks: 8,214 in 3 days, all HTTPS, to 3 public hosts.
A JSON body naming a different merchant from the query now gets 400 on CRM write routes.
A Shopify connect for a merchant not created by the app install gets 400.
A template HTTP function, MCP server or webhook whose host resolves to an internal address is refused ("Request blocked by egress policy").
Not in this PR
Still open against crm, and they will follow: #1444 (archive replay endpoint), #1355 (open runs by key), #1178 (log truncation). All three merge cleanly onto the rebased crm.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
CRM ingest and webhook requests now have a configurable maximum body size. Requests that exceed the limit receive a 413 response.
Bug Fixes
Outbound requests now block unsafe destinations and redirects.
CRM requests are rejected when the merchant IDs in the query and body conflict.
Shopify onboarding is limited to eligible reseller accounts and identifies the connected shop through its merchant.
Workflow call templates are checked for merchant, reseller, and channel compatibility before publishing or execution; unsuitable calls are parked.

Walkthrough
This pull request updates SSRF-safe egress for HTTP, webhooks, and MCP; adds configurable byte limits to CRM ingest routes; tightens merchant and Shopify onboarding checks; and validates workflow call templates during execution and plan publication.
Changes
SSRF-safe Egress
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Shared DNS, connection, and redirect handling app/core/security/ssrf.py, tests/egress/test_tenant_egress_guard.py
The shared request path caches DNS answers and TLS contexts, connects to validated addresses, applies deadlines and address failover, and adjusts redirect method handling.
HTTP requests and webhook delivery app/ai/voice/agents/breeze_buddy/handlers/transport/http_requester.py, app/ai/voice/agents/breeze_buddy/utils/common.py, tests/egress/*
HTTP requester calls and webhook POSTs use the SSRF-safe request path. DNS failures remain retryable; policy refusals are not retried.
MCP egress transport and validation app/ai/voice/agents/breeze_buddy/mcp/*, tests/egress/test_tenant_egress_guard.py, tests/egress/test_tool_pipeline.py, .github/workflows/pr-build-check.yml
MCP network calls use a guarded transport and validate server URLs before opening clients or performing live discovery. The workflow adds the crm branch and runs egress tests with CRM tests.
Ingest routes and webhooks enforce the limit while reading request bytes. Oversized bodies receive 413, and mid-body disconnects receive 400. Tests cover boundaries, chunked reads, and configuration.
Merchant Scope and Shopify Onboarding
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Query and body merchant consistency app/crm/auth.py, app/crm/connectivity/schemas/tenancy.py, docs/crm/building-modules.md, tests/crm/test_connectivity_routes.py
POST, PUT, and PATCH requests now reject a body merchant ID that conflicts with the query merchant ID.
Shopify identity and reseller checks app/crm/connectivity/accounts/onboarding.py, app/crm/connectivity/providers/shopify/onboard.py, tests/crm/test_connectors_onboarding.py
Shopify onboarding checks the merchant’s reseller and uses the merchant ID as the shop and external account ID.
Workflow Call-Template Validation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Call-template resolution and publish validation app/crm/outreach/nodes/call.py, app/crm/outreach/plans.py, tests/crm/test_workflow_*, tests/crm/doubles.py, docs/crm/plans/README.md
A shared resolver checks call-template availability, ownership, reseller, channels, and dialler configuration. Execution and plan validation use those checks; tests also cover publish and migration behavior.
Resolve replay-size handling and reporting-webhook compatibility before merging. Publishing, outage-mode lead intake, and several timeout paths also have concrete regressions that need correction or explicit acceptance.

Make the chunked-body test fail when the reader consumes the whole body.
The test sends an 80-byte chunked body against a 64-byte cap and asserts only the 413 status and that nothing was verified or filed. A reader that buffers the entire body before checking its size also returns 413 for this input. The test therefore cannot detect the loss of the pre-verification read bound its docstring describes. Make the streamed body much longer than the cap, and assert that the reader stops pulling chunks once the cap is passed.

Update the chunked-body test to stream substantially more data than the 64-byte
cap and track how many chunks the reader pulls. Assert it stops reading once the

Add type hints to the dns helper and its nested resolve callback.
Add type hints to the _dns helper and its nested resolve callback.
_dns and its nested resolve in tests/egress/test_tenant_egress_guard.py lack complete signatures. monkeypatch and the parameters of resolve have no annotations. The **/*.py guideline calls for type hints on signatures. The rest of this test module already annotates its helpers in part. Adding monkeypatch: pytest.MonkeyPatch, hostname: str, port: int, and -> List[str] on resolve would bring the new helpers in line with that guideline.
This is a convention gap with no runtime effect. Existing tests in tests/crm also leave nested async callbacks untyped, so the change does not introduce a new pattern.

Add a route-level test for matching query and body IDs.
test_a_body_repeating_the_merchant_is_accepted calls onboard() directly, so it never sends a request to /connectors/shopify/onboard. Its docstring describes route behavior, but no test checks that the route accepts matching IDs. A route-level regression would leave this test passing.

Limit the commit-count exemption to crm → release PRs.
The Check commit count step skips when the PR head is crm in the same repository. It does not check the base branch. A multi-commit PR from crm into main therefore skips the one-commit check. The step comment and the PR intent limit the exemption to the crm → release integration. Add a base_ref condition to the if: expression.

Bound the MCP egress preflight in _acquire_pooled_client.
_check_mcp_egress runs under the per-server lock with no timeout. A slow DNS lookup can therefore delay a pooled tool call past its 30-second budget, and it can block other calls for that server. The tool-call wait_for at line 451 starts only after acquisition returns, so it does not cover this await. Bound the preflight with the same budget used by the other preflight at line 291.

Bound the MCP address-connect sequence by the call timeout.
McpEgressTransport caps each earlier address at 1 s but gives the last address the full connect timeout, with no shared deadline. In the direct POST path, DNS has its own timeout_s wait. Approval-gated declared tools, and any server timeout below 10 s, can therefore run past the configured timeout. Use one deadline across DNS and all address attempts.

Allow or reject http:// reporting webhook URLs explicitly.
send_webhook_with_retry now calls ssrf_safe_request without allow_http, so an http://reporting_webhook_url raises SSRFError before any POST. The function returns False, and no call summary is delivered. The base code posted to such URLs. Decide the scheme policy, then enforce it at intake or in this call.

Bound the TLS context load by the remaining deadline.
ssrf_safe_request awaits _tls_context after it computes the attempt timeout. The CA-bundle load therefore runs outside the whole-chain budget, and a slow first load can finish the request after total_budget. Load the context before computing remaining, and bound the load with time_left(hop).

Keep the leads door cap separate from CRM_INGEST_MAX_BODY_BYTES.
app/services/ingest_archive.py:73 now sets MAX_BODY_BYTES = CRM_INGEST_MAX_BODY_BYTES. The middleware applies that one value to both DOORS entries, so the leads door follows the events door cap. At the merge base, the same constant was a fixed 1 MiB, so leads were not affected by this setting. An operator who lowers CRM_INGEST_MAX_BODY_BYTES below 1 MiB while BB_INGEST_DB_WRITES_DISABLED is on causes lead bodies between the new cap and 1 MiB to skip park. Those requests reach push_lead_handler, which calls get_template_by_id (a database call) before any response. While Postgres is down, these requests can fail with 5xx instead of the parked 201 response. Producers that retry then send more requests into the outage.
Give the leads door its own cap, or make the cap a per-Door field and pass door.max_body_bytes to _buffer at line 384. The leads door keeps the 1 MiB default, and the events door keeps CRM_INGEST_MAX_BODY_BYTES. The leads route has no body-size requirement of its own, so the coupling is not needed for replay.

The test named test_a_declared_oversized_body_is_refused_before_it_is_read checks only the 413 status and that nothing is filed. Removing the Content-Length fast path in read_bounded still passes it, because the streamed check also returns 413. Rename the test to match what it asserts, or add a read counter.

Rename test_a_declared_oversized_body_is_refused_before_it_is_read to reflect
that it verifies a 413 response and no filing, not that the body is rejected
before being read.

Test the park-then-replay path at the cap boundary.
The new test compares two boot-time constants. It passes when _pin_occurred_at pushes a parked body over CRM_INGEST_MAX_BODY_BYTES. A body of exactly the cap that omits occurred_at is parked and acknowledged with archived: true. Its replayed body then exceeds the cap and the events door returns 413. Add a test that parks such a body, posts the stored body back to /ingest/events, and expects 200. Check the pinned body size before parking, or cap the raw body below the limit by the pinned field's size.

Review comment at @tests/services/test_ingest_archive.py around lines 519 - 520:
Update the archive ingestion test around the boot-time cap assertions to cover
park-then-replay at the body-size boundary: submit a body without occurred_at
that is parked and acknowledged as archived, then replay the stored, pinned body
to /ingest/events and assert a 200 response. Ensure the pinned body remains
within CRM_INGEST_MAX_BODY_BYTES by checking its size before parking or keeping
the raw body below the cap by the added pinned-field size.

The crm branch collects the CRM security-fix PRs before they go to
release together. Each PR into crm now gets the same build check as a
PR into release.
The final crm -> release PR carries several reviewed one-commit PRs, so
the commit-count step skips that one PR (head juspay/clairvoyance:crm).
Every PR into crm is still held to one commit.
…s and lead webhooks
Template HTTP functions, hooks and pre-checks (HttpRequestExecutor) now send
through app/core/security/ssrf.py: the host is resolved at request time, any
loopback/private/link-local/metadata/non-global answer (IPv4 and IPv6) is
refused, the connection goes to the checked address, and every redirect hop
is re-validated instead of being followed by aiohttp. A refusal is not
retried and returns a generic message, so internal addresses never reach the
LLM.
MCP: every path (direct, pooled, per-call, voice and chat discovery) checks
the server first, and all requests go through McpEgressTransport, which
re-checks each redirect hop and connects to a checked address, so neither a
redirect nor DNS rebinding reaches an internal target. Our own in-process
endpoint is unchanged.
reporting_webhook_url: send_webhook_with_retry goes through the same guard
with same_origin_only, since the URL comes from the lead and the body is
signed. A refusal is not retried; a DNS failure is.
Pinning to an IP hides the host name from aiohttp's connection pool, so each
TLS name gets its own context; two names on one IP would otherwise share a
connection opened for the first. Because pinning also bypasses aiohttp's own
failover and DNS cache, the guard restores both: every address but the last
gets a 1 s connect cap, and checked answers are reused for 10 s. The DNS
lookup spends the request's own timeout.
Redirects change the method only where aiohttp did (303, and 301/302 for
POST), so a redirected PUT or DELETE is never turned into a GET. Running past
max_redirects raises RedirectLimitError, which HTTP functions report as
before. An MCP transport serves one server and refuses a hop to another host.
The egress tests move to tests/egress, which CI now runs beside tests/crm.
