Use the distinct Gemini vector space and the existing hosted query marker so the edge selects code-retrieval embeddings. Preserve explicit Jina behavior and migrate only exact former hosted Qwen/Jina sidecars, avoiding mixed-model ANN search while keeping legacy overrides intact. Use Gemini 001 for managed semantic embeddings
Hosted semantic retrieval now defaults to gemini-embedding-001 at the existing 512D contract. 0.2.5857 still requested the Jina model, which the hosted endpoint no longer serves, so the semantic lane reported unavailable and fell back to local results. Sidecars built with the former hosted Jina or Qwen default migrate once in the background. Custom endpoints and explicit model overrides are unchanged.

When users run the documented codedb <root> context command after upgrading with a Jina sidecar, this condition recognizes the sidecar but no rebuild is ever started: runCliTool invokes handleContext(..., null) (src/mcp.zig:6426), and the scheduler only acts when semantic_cache is non-null. The CLI therefore takes the bounded exact fallback on every invocation and never returns to the ANN’s 4× candidate pool; give the CLI a migration owner or limit the automatic-migration guarantee to MCP.
