fix(startup): launch the registered Desktop bundle and executable - #7137
Conversation
Launch Desktop from the bundle path recorded in its login registration, with matching installation ownership and fail-closed manual-open guidance. Preserve the app-bundle suffix refusal and explicit ownership fixture types. Co-authored-by: Devin <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com>
Reject relative launch registrations and non-file executable targets. Match CFBundleExecutable to the canonical registered Desktop binary before opening the recorded bundle. Exercise the actual macOS plist conversion without launching an app, and document manual recovery for inconsistent evidence. ✅ Deterministic PR hygiene checks passed. |
Keep the macOS registration contract independent of the test host. Place fixtures on the caller's drive so Windows relative() cannot return an absolute cross-drive target, and assert the rejected path is truly relative. Exercise Windows drive paths and non-macOS command refusal explicitly. Require RunAtLoad for automatic reopening
When ~/Library/LaunchAgents/OpenCodex.plist is stale or edited so RunAtLoad is false or absent, this condition still accepts it because it checks only the label, arguments, and optional Program. launchDesktopApp then opens the application whenever a matching ownership claim exists, even though this is not the valid Start-at-Login registration described by the updated guide and the existing macLoginRegistration validator rejects the same plist. Require RunAtLoad === true before returning the bundle and cover the false/absent cases.

Summary
ocx ensureopens the canonical macOS app bundle named by the installation's Start-at-Login registration, after matching the durable Desktop claim to the app-local install ID. Maintainer edits are disabled on the contributor branch, so this is an in-repository carry targetingdev.CFBundleExecutableagree with that canonical Desktop executable. Missing or inconsistent evidence retains manual-open guidance; launch/readiness failure never authorizes a competing CLI proxy. Document the reopening prerequisite in the public Desktop guide and architecture contract.Verification
Current head:
6c14932bcb3574e2cb8b7750aa7fbdba74abff74(Windows CI follow-up).path.relative(cwd, executable)across the Windows checkout/temp drives, which returns an absolute target. The launch helper was therefore correctly accepting the supplied absolute path under host semantics. The macOS LaunchAgent contract now explicitly usespath.posix.isAbsolute; fixtures use the checkout drive and POSIX-rooted paths, and the rejection case proves its path is relative and resolves to the existing executable. Windows drive-absolute/drive-relative plist values and non-macOS no-command refusal are covered without adding skips.OCX_TEST_NO_QUEUE=1 bun test tests/cli/cli-ensure-desktop-cold-start.test.ts: 36 pass / 0 fail / 186 assertions, macOS, Bun 1.4.3.
