I'm an engineering leader at Shopify. I've worked on everything from fraud and risk systems to the git and CI infrastructure the whole company builds on, which has a particular kind of feedback loop: when you get it right nobody notices, and when you get it wrong nobody ships.
What I care about most is the environment engineers work in: the culture, the processes, and the tools. AI has changed all three, which these days means I spend more time writing specs and reviewing output than writing code. I hold the team to the same bar.
