Video skills for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and meshcode — short-form clip creation (Shorts/Reels/TikTok), video scripts, and packaging (thumbnails, titles, CTR). The 3 video skills (video-*) are distilled editions containing judgment knowledge only, with no scripts: standalone-moment clip selection, the 2-second hook bar, 9:16 reframe rules (face crop vs stacked screen-share layout), burned-in caption and safe-zone specs, retention checkpoints for long-form scripts, hook formulas with a ban list, and a CTR diagnosis baseline. They follow the Agent Skills standard (agentskills.io) — unzip into your project's .meshcode/skills/ (flat layout) and Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and meshcode desktop pick them up from the next session.

Who this is for

  • Creators and one-person teams — turn one long video into 3–5 shorts that survive out of context, with captions and framing done right
  • Marketers — scripts with retention architecture instead of "intro → body → please subscribe"
  • Channel operators — thumbnail/title/description packages and a CTR decision rule, not vibes
  • AI agent operators — knowledge-first video skills ready for stores and registries

Skill list

Skill Role Core judgment criteria
video-shorts Shorts/Reels/TikTok creation Standalone + 2s hook + payoff, 9:16 reframe modes, caption safe zones

video-packaging Thumbnail/title/CTR 3s·120px thumbnail test, title ≤ 60 chars, CTR 4–10% baseline

Skill details

video-shorts

Short-form video creation — clip selection from long-form, 9:16 reframing, burned-in captions, safe zones, render and QA. Use when the user says "make shorts", "cut clips from this video", "vertical clips", "Reels", "TikTok edit"…

video-script

Video script writing — cold-open structure, retention checkpoints, hook formulas, and timed outlines for long-form and shorts. Use when the user says "video script", "YouTube video outline", "shorts script", "hook ideas"…

video-packaging

Video packaging — thumbnails, titles, descriptions, hashtags, and CTR diagnosis for YouTube and short-form. Use when the user says "thumbnail ideas", "video title", "CTR is low", "description and hashtags"…

Use with meshcode

Built for meshcode (free download — macOS/Windows):

  1. Open your project in meshcode
  2. In chat, ask "show available skills", then "install the video skills" — meshcode fetches from this repo automatically
  3. They appear in the next session and load only when a task matches

Manual alternative: repo zip → .meshcode/skills/. Also works in Claude Code (~/.claude/skills/), Codex, and Cursor.

Distillation log (2026-09-13)

  • Sources: timscheuerai/content-vault shorts-cut/edit/qa (MIT), danvega/skills shorts · video-packaging (no license — structure referenced only, no text reused)
  • Scripts and dependencies (whisper, ffmpeg build options, personal style presets) excluded — judgment criteria and specs only
  • Platform specs (length limits, safe zones) change fast → each skill states a "re-verify at upload time" rule
