This pull request updates the container image tagging strategy to remove the v prefix from version tags, ensuring consistency between the published image tags and the references in action.yml and documentation. This change affects the build, release workflow, and documentation to clarify and enforce the new convention.

Container image tag convention update:

  • .github/workflows/build-image.yml: Changed the image tagging pattern to omit the v prefix in semantic version tags (e.g., 3.0.0 instead of v3.0.0), aligning with the reference format in action.yml.
  • .github/workflows/release.yml: Updated the script that sets the image reference in action.yml to exclude the v prefix when pinning the image to a specific version.
  • action.yml: Changed the default image reference to use the new tag format without the v prefix.

Documentation update:

  • README.md: Clarified that container image tags now omit the v prefix (e.g., 3.0.0), matching the reference in action.yml.action.yml referenced vX.Y.Z while the metadata action produces X.Y.Z for prereleases. Align action.yml, the release sed, and the image tag pattern on the no-v convention.

action.yml referenced vX.Y.Z while the metadata action produces X.Y.Z for prereleases. Align action.yml, the release sed, and the image tag pattern on the no-v convention.
