Summary
Automated update of commitment discount eligibility data from the Azure Retail Prices API, produced by the Update Commitment Discount Eligibility workflow (run 38214571289).
Net +6,322 meters (92,893 → 99,215), composed of:
Resulting distribution:
Both fetch passes returned identical meter sets (0% drift) for reservations (72,038) and savings plans (89,167), and the historical guards passed.
Why the jump is so large
Almost all of the growth arrived in a single week: the 21 and 28 September runs saw 92,877 and 92,905 meters, the 5 October run saw 99,116. A random sample of 60 added meters, looked up against the live API, all exist and all have an earliest
effectiveStartDateof 2026-10-01 — an Azure price list update, not a fetch artifact. 51 of the 60 are Virtual Machines, mainly:taiwannorth,taiwannorthwest,southeastasia3(19 of the 60), which also adds meters for existing series such as Easv4 and ESv3The rest are spread across MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, and App Service.
Non-additive rows, verified against the live API
Checked with
api-version=2023-01-01-previewandmeterRegion='primary', the same parameters the fetch script uses.Eligible / Not Eligible→Eligible / Eligible, and all 24 are Virtual Machines HBrsv5 Linux meters. The live API now returns savings plan pricing (1Y, 3Y) alongside reservations (1Y, 3Y, 5Y), sodevis stale.Eligible / Not Eligible, 6Not Eligible / Eligible): a sample of 15 returns no items from the live API. These are retired meters, dropped by design so they age out instead of accumulating.Notes
The Open Data CI added a commit that regenerates
src/powershell/Private/Get-OpenDataCommitmentDiscountEligibility.ps1from the updated CSV, so the PowerShell lookup stays in sync with the data. This PR is opened from the 12 October branch. The 21 September, 28 September, and 5 October branches are snapshots that this one supersedes (each run is a full fetch) and have been deleted. GitHub Actions can't open PRs in this org, which is why those weeks never got a PR.
