Summary

• Port MLAI onto the shared scripts/smoke_notebooks.py runner with course defaults in scripts/smoke.yml (lecture 05 skipped: MariaDB + credential widgets).
• Rebuild all 12 lectures, notebooks, and slides from current snippets, including the Pearson-lines01 / PPCA / six_rotate snippet fixes (Fix Pearson citation key and PPCA diagram includes lawrennd/snippets#75).
• Publish the generated figures that compile now copies into slides/diagrams/ (rotated sixes, PCA, polynomial samples).

This branch sits on fix/diagram-web-paths (open #10). Until #10 merges, GitHub will show those CIP-0010 diagram-path commits here as well.

Local compile: all numbered lectures on 27 Oct 2026. Local smoke: 11/11 passed (python scripts/smoke_notebooks.py; 05 skipped).

Left uncommitted (same class of artefacts as #2): compile/smoke scratch (_notebooks/{ml,dimred,...}/, nested slides/diagrams/diagrams/, stray -the-data-science-process files, _lamd CSS copies, Gemfile.lock).

Test plan

• python scripts/smoke_notebooks.py in the teaching venv (11/11, skip 05)
• CI notebook-smoke workflow on this PR; check the artifact
• Optional: python scripts/smoke_notebooks.py --only 09 12 after snippets#75 lands
• Spot-check lecture 09 slides for six_rotate005 / PPCA figures and lecture 08 for polynomial-function-samples.svg
