Proxy of sleepypod#843 for CodeRabbit review.

Why

Comparing pod biometrics with the Apple Watch off-pod (analysis/watch-deviation) needs SSH today: a better-sqlite3 backup() of biometrics.db on the pod, scp, then fetch_raw.sh to ssh-tar the RAW archives for each window. This replaces both with one read-only HTTP call. The pod does no replay or backtest work.

What

  • GET /api/biometrics/analysis-export?start=<ISO|ms>&end=<ISO|ms>&raw=1|0 streams an uncompressed tar with backpressure:
    • biometrics.db: an online backup through a separate read-only connection, written to os.tmpdir() (tmpfs on the pod, so nothing goes to eMMC). It is deleted on completion, error, client cancel, request abort or the watchdog. Returns 507 if tmpfs can't hold it.
    • raw/<name>.RAW.gz: finished archives in ARCHIVE_DIR (now exported from src/lib/podStorage.ts) with mtime in [start − 20 min, end + 45 min], the same rule as fetch_raw.sh. *.tmp.* partials and symlinks are skipped.
    • manifest.json (the last entry, hashed while streaming so each archive is read once): formatVersion: analysis-export-v1, build info from .git-info, a stable pod.id (HKDF over the HomeKit ADR-0020 hardware seed chain, so the raw CID/serial never leaves the pod), hostname, model and revision, the latest applied biometrics drizzle migration (hash, created_at, tag, count), the requested and served windows (min/max archive mtime), and every file with bytes and SHA-256. Raw entries also carry the original name and mtimeMs.
    • zod validation: window ≤ 14 days, start < end, raw 0|1 → 400. RAW > 2 GiB → 413 before any snapshot. One export at a time → 429. Content-Length is exact.
  • biometricTuning.describeAnalysisExport (OpenAPI GET /biometric-tuning/analysis-export-index): returns the archive count, RAW bytes, estimated tar bytes and the download path. It has a demo handler that throws "SIMULATED DEMO".
  • MCP export_analysis_snapshot sits next to export_calibration_dataset. It is read-only and returns the path, counts and estimate, never bytes.
  • Docs: a new "Analysis snapshot export" section in docs/biometrics-datasets.md (contents, manifest fields, privacy note, curl). The MCP README table is updated too.

This replaces the ssh backup + fetch_raw.sh steps:

mkdir -p snapshot && curl -fsS "http://POD:3000/api/biometrics/analysis-export?start=2026-10-15T09:16:00Z&end=2026-10-15T15:24:00Z" | tar -xf - -C snapshot/

Test plan

  • ./node_modules/.bin/tsc --noEmit -p .
  • eslint on changed files
  • vitest run app/api/biometrics/analysis-export src/biometrics/tests/analysis-export.test.ts src/mcp/tests/server.test.ts src/demo/tests/coverage.test.ts src/server/tests/openapi.test.ts src/lib: 673 passed
    • Route tests use real temp dirs: the window edges (±1 min around the −20/+45 rule), tmp partials, symlinks and non-RAW files excluded; manifest hashes, sizes, names and mtimes match the tar entries; pod id, model and schema tag; WAL-only rows present in the snapshot; Content-Length exact; all 400 cases; 413 via a sparse > 2 GiB file; 429; temp file removed after completion, reader cancel, request abort, a vanished archive, and a backup failure; archive dir unchanged
  • Generated the OpenAPI document locally to confirm the new procedure's query params are accepted
  • After deploy from dev: run the curl above against the pod, check manifest.json hashes with shasum -a 256, and check /tmp holds no sp-analysis-export-* dir afterwards

🛏️ Beam this PR onto a sleepypod ✨

Pick the snippet that matches your pod. Already-installed pods can't use the curl bootstraps below — sleepypod's egress firewall DROPs github.com, and the script that knows how to unblock WAN is the very file curl is trying to fetch. Use sp-update instead; it's on disk and opens WAN as its first step.

🔄 Already on a sleepypod (most common — review a PR on a running pod):

sudo sp-update feat/analysis-export

🚀 Fresh pod / first install — bootstraps from GitHub, rebuilds every push:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ng/core/feat/analysis-export/scripts/install \
  | sudo bash -s -- --branch feat/analysis-export

🎯 Pin to this exact build (run 39154316087 · 03079b1) — fresh-pod path, locked to one CI artifact for reproducible review:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ng/core/03079b1d085a150c66ef91fd2dc9231783caaee3/scripts/install \
  | sudo bash -s -- \
      --branch feat/analysis-export \
      --artifact-url 'https://nightly.link/ng/core/actions/runs/39154316087/sleepypod-core.zip'

🧊 Artifact: sleepypod-core · self-destructs in 30 days 💥

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added an analysis snapshot export for a requested time window, available through the biometric tools and as a downloadable tar archive.
    • Exports include a consistent database backup, optional matching RAW archives (included by default), and a manifest with file hashes and snapshot metadata.
    • Requests must specify a valid time window of up to 14 days. RAW data exceeding 2 GiB is rejected, and only one export can run at a time.
  • Documentation
    • Documented export contents, limits, and handling of sensitive data.

📝 Walkthrough

Adds a biometrics analysis export that packages a database snapshot, selected RAW archives, and a hashed manifest in a tar stream. The HTTP route validates requests and manages export cleanup. An MCP tool returns export details and a download path.

Changes: Biometrics analysis export

The export cleans up when a request is aborted and preserves the advertised uncompressed tar length. No material merge-blocking risk is supported; it is ready for normal checks.

- Around line 85-86: After registering onAbort with request.signal, check
whether the signal is already aborted; if so, await finish() and return an empty
499 response before continuing the export flow. Keep the existing abort listener
behavior for requests that remain active.
- Around line 114-119: Update the Cache-Control header in the analysis export
response to include no-transform alongside no-store, preventing transformation
of the tar payload while preserving the exact Content-Length.
