Context

Add shadcn/ui as an optional create-sites add-on so Sites can start new projects with a complete, locally owned component set.

Changes

• add shadcn to the create-sites add-on catalog
• vendor the complete current first-party shadcn registry for the Base UI Nova preset: 61 registry entries represented by 60 components/ui source files (form is a fileless compatibility entry)
• include the Sidebar use-mobile support hook, neutral CSS-variable theme, Geist fonts, and Lucide icons
• include and pin the add-on's complete dependency closure
• omit an extra ui:add wrapper because the complete component set is already installed
• add generator coverage and a minor changeset

How I tested

Repository checks

• ran pnpm check
• 44 tests passed: 36 create-sites tests and 8 sites-vite-plugin tests
• generator coverage verifies the shadcn-only and all-add-ons paths, the exact 60-file component inventory, dependencies, support hook, theme CSS, absence of ui:add, and deterministic output
• coverage also verifies that a plain scaffold contains no shadcn files or dependencies

Branch-local generated-project smoke test

• built and packed branch @openai/create-sites@0.2.2
• generated a project from that branch package with --add-ons shadcn --install
• verified exactly 60 UI component files, components.json, lib/utils.ts, hooks/use-mobile.ts, the expected dependencies, and no ui:add script
• npm run build
• npx tsc --noEmit

Codex plugin verification

Existing bundled skill / no add-on

• started a fresh codex exec that loaded the unchanged bundled sites:sites-building skill
• let the skill invoke its normal npm create --yes @openai/sites@0.2.0 ... -- --yes command; a test-only npm wrapper substituted the freshly packed branch 0.2.2 package without editing the skill
• generator selected Add-ons: none
• verified the created project had no components.json, components/ui, lib/utils.ts, shadcn dependencies, or ui:add script
• npm run build
• npx tsc --noEmit

Updated branch-test skill / shadcn add-on

• started a second fresh codex exec that loaded the installed Sites Branch Test skill
• the skill invoked npm create --yes @openai/sites@0.2.2 ... -- --yes --add-ons shadcn --install against the freshly packed branch package
• generator selected Add-ons: shadcn
• verified exactly 60 files in components/ui, the support hook and configuration files, the expected dependencies, and no ui:add script
• Codex built an account-settings page using the preinstalled alert dialog, badge, button, card, input, label, separator, and switch components through @/components/ui/...
• npm run build
• npx tsc --noEmit
