Riesgos Chile 0.1.1: the layers are styled in the RustGIS window too - #46
What it does: this updates registry/riesgos-chile.json from 0.1.0 to 0.1.1, and nothing else.
0.1.0 added its layers with layer.addUrl. In the desktop window a plugin's layer.addUrl returns pending: the app downloads the data after the command has ended (Session::run_leaving_downloads). By then the plugin can no longer style the layer, so it showed in RustGIS's default style. The command line waits for the download, which is why the styles worked in my 0.1.0 tests.
0.1.1 reads each layer's GeoJSON with host.fetch, which waits for the answer natively, and adds it with host.addLayer. It then styles the layer in the same command.
Fuel: parsing a 1.8 MB answer into a Value (the SDK's host::call) and writing it out again ran out of a command's fuel. The plugin now finds the answer's json member by skipping over the values without parsing them (src/fetch.rs, with a test). It passes those bytes into the host.addLayer request unchanged.
Fallback: if host.fetch can't read a layer (over 2 MB, or a network error), layer.addUrl adds it as before.
Unchanged: the permissions (edit, network) and minRustgisVersion (0.5.0).
How I tested it:
python scripts/build.py --check downloads the release and verifies its hash.
Run on their own right after, from the released package, tsunami-areas (1.8 MB) added 354 features, quakes-month 52 and hotspots-week 1,137.
To make sure the new path is the one that ran, I built the plugin once with the layer.addUrl fallback turned into an error. tsunami-areas, quakes-year and hotspots-week were still added.
In the map view: tsunami evacuation routes (425 over Valparaíso at 1:500,000), volcanic hazard areas (350 at 1:2,000,000) and wildfire recurrence (1,176 at 1:500,000).
In the saved project, the layers carry their styles: hotspots in red, earthquakes in #d7301f, and unique-value classes for volcanic hazard and wildfire recurrence.
The plugin's Release workflow ran cargo test --locked (7 tests) before publishing.
Not yet tried in the desktop window; that is where 0.1.0's styles were missing.
Checklist:
The entry's source.url is a release asset of the plugin's repository, and sha256 is that file's.
Updated the Chile risk registry to reference release 0.1.1 instead of 0.1.0, along with the verification information for that release. This changes the release selected through the registry; no other user-facing changes are included in this update.
opengeos/rustgis-plugins#45: Adds the Riesgos Chile v0.1.0 registry entry that this change updates to v0.1.1.
Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 56ecc
The release update is mergeable after normal checks. Deferred downloads retain a pre-existing styling limitation; adding a successful fetch-to-layer test is recommended.

A rabbit checks the registry line, The newer plugin looks just fine. Its digest joins the URL’s trail, Both point to the same release detail. Then off through clover, pleased and bright.
The diff changes one file, registry/riesgos-chile.json. It moves the entry from 0.1.0 to 0.1.1 by updating the release URL and the SHA-256. No plugin source is added, so the scope is correct.
Bugs
None found in the diff. The URL's tag and file name (v0.1.1, riesgos-chile-0.1.1.rgplugin) match the unpacked manifest version (0.1.1). The package was downloaded and hash-verified by the trusted step. (high confidence)
Security
The new permissions are unchanged: edit and network. The module imports only rustgis.call and rustgis.result, and exports memory, rustgis_alloc and rustgis_call. (high)
module.txt doesn't list host.fetch because the string runs into its neighbours in the data section. I found it in the module bytes and in module.wat (disassembly complete, not cut off). It is a read-only request that needs network, which the plugin declares. (medium)
layer.remove appears in the strings, next to the "nothing to show" message. The package can't be read here, so I can't confirm what it removes. The author should confirm it only removes the layer the plugin just added (an empty or failed one). (low–medium)
The URLs point at USGS (earthquake.usgs.gov), SENAPRED's ArcGIS services (services5.arcgis.com) and NASA FIRMS VIIRS data (services9.arcgis.com). These match the described sources. (high)
Performance
The PR says the module skips over the answer's json member without parsing it, to avoid running out of fuel on a 1.8 MB response. The fallback to layer.addUrl covers answers over 2 MB. I can't verify either from the compiled module. (low)
Quality
The PR notes the desktop window hasn't been tried yet. That is the case 0.1.1 is meant to fix. A maintainer may want that confirmed before merging. (medium)
The WASM source is in the author's repository, linked from homepage. The repository field isn't set, but homepage leads to the source. (low)
The manifest id, name and version are consistent with the entry. The description matches the commands and the URLs.
The permissions fit the purpose: network for fetching the data, edit for adding and styling layers. There is no files permission, and no file commands appear in the strings.
The commands named in the strings are all layer-adding, styling or view commands (host.addLayer, layer.classStyle, layer.symbology, layer.zoomTo and so on), apart from layer.remove noted above.
Nothing suspicious in the interface. The only open question is layer.remove, which needs the author's confirmation.

Apply styling after deferred layer.addUrl downloads.
When host.fetch exceeds 2 MB, the desktop fallback returns {"pending": true}. The plugin exits before style() runs. RustGIS later adds the layer without replaying those style commands, so the layer uses default styling.

Add a successful fetch-to-layer test.
The smoke test allows command failures and does not assert that host.addLayer was called. The release tests also do not cover a successful fetch_and_add call. Add a test that supplies a successful host.fetch response and asserts that it reaches host.addLayer.
