Documents the shader pipeline as it works after ossia/score#2364. Every statement was checked against score's code at master b3ba4155eb.

Language references

  • ISF (languages/isf.md):
    • Header syntax shared by all shader families, and input naming rules.
    • Input defaults and controls.
    • IS_DEPTH and the depth macros.
    • Per-field sampler resolution (inlet setting, then shader JSON, then default) and cubemap mips.
    • Pointer inputs; straight vs _PREMULTIPLIED reads; IMG_PIXEL in the image's own pixels.
    • Header refusals.
    • Pass formats, the last pass, depth (declared in PIPELINE_STATE) and size expressions.
  • CSF (languages/csf.md):
    • RESOURCES image (storage) vs texture (sampled, with IS_ARRAY / CUBE / STATIC); INPUTS in a compute shader.
    • Storage image rules, PERSISTENT history and formats.
    • Buffer layouts, size control, device limit and cable ranges.
    • Attribute decoding.
    • Indirect record layouts.
    • Auxiliaries, passes, $COUNT_ / $BYTESIZE_.
  • Raw raster (languages/raw-raster.md):
    • Strict pipeline state values, blend keys and stencil.
    • Draw counts and backend limits.
    • Iteration attachments, MSAA, depth, multiview.
    • Scene texture pool.
  • Vertex Shader Art (languages/vertex-shader-art.md):
    • Defaults, primitive modes and events.
    • Raw read orientation.
    • Mouse (clip space) and the vertexshaderart touch history.
  • GLSL (languages/glsl.md): coordinate notes.

Devices and processes

  • Window device: cursor/gl, cursor/clip, touch/points, touch/history, and how shader inputs bind to them.
  • Shader processes:
    • Texture inlet sampler rows.
    • Shader errors in the Messages panel.
    • .glsl drops and include changes.
  • Other process pages: Render Pipeline controls and blend labels, VSA, Compute Shader runtime limits, Model Display Near/Far ranges, Scene Filter name matching and per-draw filtering, Asset Loader.

Also corrects a few errors on these pages: audioHistogram, RESOURCES entries without TYPE, BUFFER_USAGE LAYOUT, the storage size control, straight-alpha IMG_* reads.

Links and anchors were checked with a script, since there is no local Jekyll build.
