safe-bash 0.1.639: Playwright help still diverges from the official CLI reference #735

Description

@kamilio

The 0.1.639 release fixes the failure in #734: playwright-cli --help now exits 0 without acquiring a browser. It still does not match the official Microsoft CLI help requested in that issue.

Reference: the complete output of @playwright/cli@0.1.20 is preserved in #734 (comment).

Verified through our actual shell host after upgrading to @poe-platform/safe-bash@0.1.639 and safe-fs@0.1.639. --help open and open --help also work; this follow-up concerns the compatibility of the published help.

Remaining differences include:

  • Official preamble and both usage lines (playwright-cli <command> [args] [options], playwright-cli -s=<session> <command> [args] [options]) are replaced by a new layout.
  • Original sections/command descriptions are replaced by a Poe-specific subset reference.
  • Standard target terminology (click <target> [button], snapshot [target], screenshot [target]) is replaced rather than explaining unavailable forms separately.

Requested behavior: preserve the original CLI help presentation and standard syntax, clearly mark unsupported capabilities where needed, and retain the useful session-selection and host-limit notes. Do not claim unsupported operations work. This should live in safe-bash, so hosts do not implement their own help or command parser.

Actual 0.1.639 stdout (exit 0):

Usage: playwright-cli [options] <command> [arguments]

Supported commands:
open [url] Open a new session (about:blank when no URL is given).
goto <url> Navigate the selected tab in an open session.
list List named sessions and their lifecycle states.
  close Close the selected session.
close-all Close all sessions owned by this controller.
snapshot Read page text and capture actionable element refs.
click <ref> Click an element from the latest snapshot.
fill <ref> <text> Fill an element from the latest snapshot.
press <key> Press a key, such as Enter or Control+a.
screenshot Capture an image of the selected tab.
tab-list List tabs with zero-based indexes and URLs.
tab-new [url] Open and select a new tab.
  tab-select <index> Select a tab by its zero-based index.
tab-close [index] Close a tab (the selected tab by default).

Command options:
  open: --browser <engine>, --headed, --headless
snapshot: --filename <path> (UTF-8 text; default: stdout)
  screenshot: --filename <path.png|path.jpg|path.jpeg>, --full-page
Default: raw PNG on stdout; use shell redirection.

Session selection:
  -s, --session <name> Select a session (also accepts --session=<name>).
Precedence: explicit option > exported PLAYWRIGHT_CLI_SESSION > default.
Commands reuse the selected open session; repeated open is an error.
Sessions live only in this retained controller, not across independent owners.
close/close-all release owned sessions; remote loss requires an explicit open.

Discovery and limits:
--help, -h, help [command] Show help without allocating a browser.
playwright-cli <command> --help shows command arguments and options.
  tab <list|new|select|close> is also accepted.
Snapshot refs are temporary handles, not selectors; recapture after changes.
Snapshot byte/ref, screenshot byte, session and tab limits are host-configured.
Browser commands require an injected adapter; help does not.

Unsupported in this subset:
Arbitrary code/eval, uploads, downloads, PDF, video, tracing, install,
kill-all, persistent profiles and unlisted commands/options.
