Summary

  • replace sleep-based duration assertions with a deterministic, injectable clock
  • remove unnecessary waits from profile and pytree integration tests
  • validate CSV and JSON profile export contents instead of only checking file existence

Why

Five executed two-second sleeps contributed 10 seconds to serial test runtime and made the duration test depend on wall-clock scheduling. A controlled clock preserves the end-to-end duration and persistence coverage without waiting.

Impact

The existing test cases and behavioral coverage are retained, while the profile-focused tests complete faster and produce more deterministic assertions.

Validation

  • uv run --group test pytest tests/test_profile.py tests/test_tree_util.py -q --durations=10 --durations-min=0.05 (17 passed in 3.52s)
  • uv run --group test pytest -q -n 8 --dist=worksteal (933 passed, 39 skipped, 4 xfailed, 6 xpassed)
  • Ruff format and lint checks passed
  • commit-time hooks passed
