style: reformat the fork's code for ruff at line-length 88 - #4

Upstream lilab-bcb#234 replaced black (line-length 100) with ruff (88). The fork's topic branches were written before that switch and never reformatted, so every file the fork touches was over the new limit -- which is what has been failing pre-commit.ci on the upstream PRs. Formatting only: 6 files reformatted, 2 I001 import-sort fixes. No logic changes. switch and were never reformatted, so every file the fork touches sits over the new limit. That
is what has been failing
pre-commit.cion the six upstream PRs — a real failure on our diffs,not an artifact of upstream's installation.
pre-commit run --all-files: 6 files reformatted, 2I001import-sort fixes. A second run isclean across every hook.
