The README's GIF now shows Flow Home, the main window, for the whole 33 seconds, with the pill resting below it. It goes through every page in the rail's order. On Conversations, the pill dictates a question into the composer, the question pastes there, and Enter asks it. The GIF is 1100×708 and 663 KB.

scripts/home_reel.py records it, and re-records it after a page changes:

uv run --no-sync --with pillow --with playwright python scripts/home_reel.py
  • Flow Home is the real page, server and API, running over flow.home.demo's pretend session. Playwright drives Windows' own Edge headless (channel="msedge"), so no browser is downloaded.
  • The pill is the real CompactPill, recorded by compact_reel.Tap from the bitmaps it hands Windows. The two recordings are joined at the moment the talk keys go down.
  • Nothing on the screen is read, and the real pointer never moves. The title bar, the pointer, the key hints and the strip of desk under the window are drawn.
  • The session's clock is set to the afternoon, so "today" reads as a day whenever the GIF is recorded.
  • History's footer names C:\Users\you\.flow\history.jsonl, because the demo's temporary folder has the user name in its path.
  • The usage trace is written with flow.diag.Diag, as the session writes it. That also keeps test_bench_identity's rule that only benches write JSON.

Two Flow Home layout bugs the recording turned up (first commit):

  • Settings: at the default 1200 px window, the Shortcuts card overflowed. The Save buttons stood past its edge, and the boxes for new keys shrank to about 20 px. At 1100 px the Hold/Toggle switch was cut off too. A row now wraps when it cannot fit, and a box wraps together with its Save onto a line of their own.
  • History: "Today: N words, M pastes" stacked one word per line at about 1000 px. It now takes a line of its own instead.

compact_reel.py now writes docs/pill.gif by default, so running it cannot overwrite the README's GIF.

The suite has 3205 tests. Locally, the only failures are the 13 known test_refine ones.

At the default 1200 px window, Settings' Shortcuts card is half the page
wide, and its rows did not fit it: the Save buttons stood out past the
card's edge, and the boxes for new keys shrank to about 20 px, too small to
type in. At 1100 px the Hold/Toggle switch was cut off as well. A row now
wraps when it cannot fit, and a box wraps together with its Save, onto a
line of their own at a usable width.

History's "Today: N words, M pastes" could shrink to nothing beside the
filters, and at about 1000 px it stacked a word to a line. It keeps its
width now, and takes a line of its own when there is no room.

scripts/home_reel.py walks every Flow Home page in the rail's order, over
the demo's pretend session in a headless Edge. On Conversations the real
pill dictates a question into the composer, it pastes there, and Enter asks
it. The pill is recorded the way compact_reel.py records it, from the
bitmaps it hands Windows, and the two recordings are joined at the moment
the talk keys go down. Nothing on the screen is read and the real pointer
never moves. Re-record after a page changes with:

uv run --no-sync --with pillow --with playwright python scripts/home_reel.py

The session's clock is set to the afternoon, so today reads as a day
whenever the reel is made. History's footer names
C:\Users\you\.flow\history.jsonl rather than the demo's temporary folder,
which has the user name in it.

compact_reel.py now writes docs/pill.gif by default, so running it cannot
overwrite the README's GIF.
