fix: remove what an extraction left when MacPacker stopped mid-way - #356

"Extract archive", Finder's three extract actions and Quick Look's extract button handed the destination itself to the engine. A run that was cancelled, or met a damaged entry, left what it had written by then in the destination, together with the container folder smart extraction had made for it. The engine now writes into a work folder inside the destination, which is moved into place once the extraction has succeeded and removed otherwise. It is on the destination's own volume, so putting the result in place is a rename, and the access the app already holds covers it. The work folder is a placeholder Finder can show: `<archive>.macpack`, declared as a package type so it appears as one item, dimmed the way Finder dims what it is still copying, with the extraction's progress published on it. A finished extraction ends up where it did before: same layout, same container naming, same overwriting of what is already there. What could not be put in place (a file where a folder goes, an item that cannot be written) now fails before anything has moved. "Extract selected" already went through a temp folder; it no longer leaves the empty container folder behind when it does not finish.
… is whole Two points from the review of this pull request. A cancel that arrived as the engine finished was ignored: the engine had nothing left to stop and returned normally, so the result was put in place and the run reported as done. The run is now checked for cancellation before anything of it is committed. Where an extracted file replaces one that sits behind a link on another volume, the old file was removed before the new one had been copied across, so a copy that failed left neither. The new file is now copied beside the old one and takes its place in a single rename.
…lled "Extract to" Two more points from the review of this pull request. Extracting over items that are already there puts the result in place step by step. A step that failed after earlier ones had succeeded left the destination partly updated, and a file already replaced did not come back. Every step can now be taken back, and is when a later one fails: a replaced file changes places with its replacement (or is kept beside itself where the volume cannot do that), and an item that was moved in goes back. Finder's Extract to "name" created its folder before extracting, so a cancelled run left it behind, empty. The extraction now makes that folder itself, and takes it back with a run that does not finish.
…tovers # Conflicts: # Config/products/macpacker.json
Before: with sarensw#339, an extraction writes into a work folder, <archive>.macpack, which is removed whichever way the extraction ends, but only if MacPacker is still running at the end. If MacPacker crashed, or was force-quit, during an extraction, the work folder stayed where it was: half an archive, shown dimmed in Finder as "being written", for good. Now: the next time MacPacker starts, it removes such a leftover work folder. - It removes only what it is sure is its own unfinished work folder: a folder with the .macpack extension that Finder still shows as being written, and never one in the Trash. Anything else is left alone. - Extractions of the current run of MacPacker are never touched, so a Finder action that arrives while the clean-up runs is safe. - The clean-up runs in the background, so a slow disk doesn't hold up the start. - Not covered: an extraction the Quick Look preview runs itself (when it asks where to extract). The preview keeps its own settings, which the app can't read. For review: while it is in use, each work folder is noted in the app's settings: its name, a security-scoped bookmark of the folder it is in (the access needed to remove it later, which the sandbox wouldn't give otherwise), and an id of the app start that writes it. The process id isn't used, since a later start can be given the same one again. An extraction that ends removes its note. At the next start, a note from an earlier start means an extraction that never ended. "Being written" is the creation date Finder uses for that (ExtractionStaging.busyDate), which nothing else gives a folder. Builds on sarensw#339 (ExtractionStaging).

bookmark or name data; keep the note when resolution fails so it can be retried

Before: at the next start, a note whose folder could not be found was dropped. That is right for a folder that was deleted, but not for one on an external drive that simply isn't connected yet: the note was lost, and the leftover stayed on that drive for good. Now: when a note's folder can't be found, MacPacker looks at which volume the note's bookmark names. If that volume isn't mounted, the note waits for a later start; if it is mounted, the folder is gone and the note is dropped, as before.
Before: this pull request added its changelog items to the 1.1.0 block of Config/products/macpacker.json. 1.1.0 was released on 19 October, so that block takes no new items. Now: macpacker.json is as on main. The full items are in the pull request description, for a new version block, as AGENTS.md asks. The items of sarensw#339, which this builds on, come out too, as they do in sarensw#339.

Before: when a leftover's folder could not be found at start, its note was kept only while its drive was away, and the drive counted as there when anything was mounted where it had been. Another drive of the same name, plugged in meanwhile, made the note go, and the leftover stayed when the right drive came back. Now: the drive is known by the identifier its bookmark records (its volume UUID), wherever it is mounted. Only a drive without one, such as a network share, is still known by where it is mounted.

125-146: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winThe changed UUID tests call
ExtractionStaging.volumeIsMounteddirectly with manually supplied identifiers. They do not exercise the startup cleanup caller’svolumeIdentifier(ofBookmark:)extraction or its forwarding intovolumeIsMounted.A regression that stops forwarding the bookmark UUID can therefore pass these tests. Add a focused cleanup-path test that records a bookmark for one volume, supplies a different mounted volume at the same path, and asserts that the leftover note remains.

What & why
Before: with #339, an extraction writes into a work folder,
<archive>.macpack, which is removed whichever way the extraction ends — but only if MacPacker is still running at the end. If MacPacker crashes, or is force-quit, during an extraction, the work folder stays where it was: half an archive, shown dimmed in Finder as "being written", for good. Now: the next time MacPacker starts, it removes such a leftover work folder.

The process id isn't used, since a later start can be given the same one again. An extraction that ends removes its note. At the next start, a note from an earlier start means an extraction that never ended. "Being written" is the creation date Finder uses for that (

ExtractionStaging); until that one is merged, its commits show here too — only the last commit is this one.Part of #350.
How it was verified
ExtractionLeftoversAfterStopTests): what a stopped extraction left is removed, and nothing else in that folder; a folder no longer marked as being written, or not named as a work folder, stays; a note whose folder is gone is dropped; what this start is writing is left alone; an extraction that ends — finished, cancelled or failed — leaves no note.swift test --package-path Modulespasses, all 687 tests; unsigned Release (MacPacker) and Release Store (MacPacker Store) builds, both universal, passscripts/check-architectures.sh..macpackfolder stays; at the next start it is gone.Changelog
