### I need more than 1 Gbps bandwidth for my Public Gateway, what can I do?

We have introduced a `VPC-GW-L` offer with 3 Gbps bandwidth, and a `VPC-GW-XL` offer with 10 Gbps of bandwidth, to accommodate customers with this type of need. For pricing details, see our [dedicated page](https://www.scaleway.com/en/pricing/network/). You can upgrade your existing Public Gateway to one of these new offers via the [Public Gateways API](https://www.scaleway.com/en/developers/api/public-gateways/#path-gateways-upgrade-a-public-gateway-to-the-latest-version-andor-to-a-different-commercial-offer-type) or the [Scaleway console](/public-gateways/how-to/upgrade-public-gateway/).
Two high-bandwidth offers are available for customers who need higher data transfer capacity:

- `VPC-GW-L`: 3 Gbps
- `VPC-GW-XL`: 10 Gbps

For pricing details, see the [Network pricing page](https://www.scaleway.com/en/pricing/network/).

You can upgrade an existing Public Gateway to one of these offers from the [Scaleway console](/public-gateways/how-to/change-public-gateway-offer/) or with the [Public Gateways API](https://www.scaleway.com/en/developers/api/public-gateway/gateways#upgrade-a-public-gateway-to-the-latest-version-and-or-to-a-different-commercial-offer-type). You can downgrade to a less powerful offer at any time.

This page shows you how to change the [offer type](https://www.scaleway.com/en/pricing/network/#public-gateway) of your Public Gateway. You can upgrade to a superior offer type to take advantage of higher bandwidth, or downgrade to an inferior offer type to reduce costs.

<Requirements />

- A Scaleway account logged in to the [console](https://console.scaleway.com)
- [Owner](/iam/concepts/glossary/#owner) status or [IAM permissions](/iam/concepts/glossary/#permission) allowing you to perform actions in the intended Organization
- [Created a Public Gateway](/public-gateways/how-to/create-a-public-gateway/)

1. In the [Scaleway console](https://console.scaleway.com) side menu, go to the **Network** section and click **Public Gateways**. A listing of your Public Gateways displays.
2. Use the **region selector** at the top of the page to filter for the region of the Public Gateway you want to modify, then click the Public Gateway in the listing. The Public Gateway's **Overview** page opens.
3. Click the **Settings** tab, go to the **Offer** panel, then click **Change offer**. A dialog box appears. Alternatively, you can also click **Change offer** next to the Public Gateway type on the **Overview** page, or select **Change offer** from the **Quick Actions** menu.
4. Select the new offer type from the **Public Gateway type** drop-down list. Each offer type displays its bandwidth and hourly price.
<Message type="note">
Some offer types, such as `VPC-GW-XL`, may require a quota increase. If so, click **Request quotas** next to the offer type to submit a request.
</Message>
5. Click **Change offer** to confirm.
<Message type="important">
Your Public Gateway is unavailable for a few seconds while the offer changes. During the operation, its status temporarily changes to `failed`, then returns to `ready`. Your existing IP address is preserved.
</Message>

Your Public Gateway now uses the new offer type, which displays under its name and in the **Type** field of its **Overview** page.

## Pricing

Public Gateways are priced at an hourly rate. The rate differs based on the Public Gateway offer type you choose. Offer types vary by **bandwidth**, i.e. the maximum data transfer capacity the gateway can handle at any given time. The higher the bandwidth capacity, the higher the hourly rate. You can [upgrade your Public Gateway](/public-gateways/how-to/upgrade-public-gateway/) to a more powerful offer type at any time.
Public Gateways are billed per hour. The hourly rate depends on the Public Gateway offer type you choose, and each offer type provides a different bandwidth, which is the maximum amount of data the gateway can transfer at any given time. Higher bandwidth means a higher hourly rate.

You can [change your Public Gateway offer type](/public-gateways/how-to/change-public-gateway-offer/) at any time, either to upgrade to a more powerful offer or to downgrade to a less expensive one.

You are billed for a Public Gateway from the moment you create it, until you delete it. You can [delete](/public-gateways/how-to/delete-a-public-gateway/) a Public Gateway at any time. Note that the public flexible IP of a Public Gateway incurs separate billing to the gateway itself.

- **Dynamic NAT** (enable/disable) - automatic mapping of resources' private IPs/ports to the Public Gateway, allowing secure routing of outbound traffic on the internet, and ensuring return traffic is routed back to the original requester.
- **Static NAT** (manually add multiple NAT rules) - map specific private IP address/port combinations to the Public Gateway, to permanently expose resources to the public internet for inbound traffic.
- **SSH bastion** (enable/disable, and configure allowed IPs) - maintain a single point of administrative access to resources behind a Public Gateway.
- **Upgrade Public Gateway** to a more powerful offer type.
- **Change offer** (upgrade/downgrade) - switch your Public Gateway to a more powerful or less expensive offer type.
