xml-sec-xades validates B-T, B-LT and B-LTA of verified signatures, on top of the existing B-B, over the document's own timestamps, validation material and archives.
Nothing is fetched and no clock is read: anchors, TSA policy accuracy, OCSP responders and external status are explicit caller inputs; how tokens are read comes from the compiled policy.
The adapter builds without std and executes B-LTA in WebAssembly.
Changes
validate with Inputs and typed Outcome negative facts, including Outcome::Renewal for RenewedDigestsV2 (EN 319 132-1 §5.5.3).
VerificationPolicy::timestamp_token_encoding: Declared holds tokens to their declared encoding (§5.1.3), Ber reads them as RFC 5652 BER. A profile overlay cannot relax it.
AuthorityAccuracy for tokens without accuracy (RFC 3161 §2.4.2) and ConfiguredResponder for local OCSP configuration (RFC 6960 §4.2.2.2).
A timestamp signer may come from the document and an OCSP signer from the caller's anchors or responders, since tokens and responses may omit them.
CRL and OCSP signatures obey the operation's RSA/DSA key policy.
A CRL or delta entry that lists a certificate takes precedence over a good OCSP answer (RFC 5280 §6.3.3).
Structured primitives move to 0.20; the exact aws-lc-rs and aws-lc-fips-sys requirements are removed.
README brought up to 0.4 scope.
Testing
Tests, lints, the alloc-only target, the WebAssembly smoke and PKCS#11 run through CI on every platform.
xades check compares EU DSS conclusions on the level fixtures, including detached, parallel and countersigned structures, and gates on signatures DSS itself produced, fetched at its release tag.
Added XAdES baseline validation for B-T, B-LT, and B-LTA signatures, including timestamp, certificate, revocation, archive, and renewal evidence checks.
Added configurable timestamp-token encoding, with declared encoding as the default and BER available as an option.
Added APIs for retained Base64-decoded data and XML element canonicalization.
Documentation
Updated installation guidance, XAdES capability descriptions, and interoperability results.
Tests
Expanded validation coverage across XAdES levels, WebAssembly, and interoperability fixtures.
- Add `validate` over the document's own timestamps, validation
material and archives, through structured-xades and structured-ltv.
- Add caller inputs: anchors, TSA policy accuracy, OCSP responders,
CRLs, OCSP responses and an explicit timestamp token profile.
- Report a RenewedDigestsV2 property that does not confirm its object.
- Let a CRL or delta entry win over a good OCSP answer.
- Build the adapter without std and execute B-LTA in WebAssembly.
- Compare level fixtures with EU DSS and gate on signatures DSS made.
- Update the structured primitives to 0.20 and drop the aws-lc pins.

Explanation
Issue [#282] requires complete B-B/B-T/B-LT/B-LTA validation without implicit acquisition, clock reads, trust decisions, a second dispatcher, or a mandatory CMS dependency in core XMLDSig. validate adds the Basic and higher-level paths. Inputs carries anchors, certificates, UTC facts, accuracy, responder, CRL, and OCSP inputs. level.rs performs timestamp, credential, status, material, archive, and RenewedDigestsV2 checks and returns typed negative outcomes. The level tests cover real positive and negative cases, BER and declared token profiles, chronology-related timing, missing and unsupported evidence, conflicting CRL/OCSP evidence, detached, parallel, and countersigned signatures, resource limits, and allocator refusal. The workflow adds feature, provider, alloc-only, embedded-target, WASM, PKCS#11, lint, documentation, and workspace qualification. The XAdES tooling and DSS probe provide independent-validator comparison. The reviewed changes also preserve caller-controlled trust and time inputs and add the required shared PKIX/CMS integration.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changed files remain connected to issue [#282]. Core policy and PKIX changes support timestamp-token encoding and revocation-signature verification. XML adapter changes implement the validation pipeline. Fixtures, tests, DSS tooling, CI, documentation, dependency updates, and WASM smoke coverage support the requested validation and qualification matrix. No unrelated feature or product change is demonstrated by the reviewed summary and focused repository evidence.

- Around line 214-224: Update revocation_verifier to return a verifier whose
check closure enforces the signer key’s SPKI policy, rather than using the bare
ProviderVerifier behavior. Reuse the policy’s rsa_keys and dsa_keys inputs and a
CertificateSession bounded by policy.resources, matching the inputs used by
CertificatePathVerifier::new.

- The timestamp token encoding moves from a caller input to
VerificationPolicy, so one compiled snapshot governs acceptance.
- CRL and OCSP signature checks enforce the RSA/DSA key policy, which
no certificate path reaches for a configured responder.
- A timestamp signer may come from the document, and an OCSP signer
from the caller's anchors or configured responders, as tokens and
responses may omit their certificates.
Each fix carries a regression test seen failing. The level fixtures
are regenerated with two omitted-certificate cases.
The new timestamp_token_encoding snapshot reaches this Relaxing fallback. When an effective policy changes from Ber to Declared, diff reports a relaxation, although token_encoding treats Declared as the restrictive choice. Add both directions to direction so rollout reports describe this setting correctly.

Update the `direction` match to explicitly classify both
`timestamp_token_encoding` transitions between `Ber` and `Declared`, treating
`Declared` as the more restrictive choice. Keep the existing `Relaxing` fallback
for unrelated settings.

- The path unit tests and the WebAssembly smoke follow the adapter API
without std and without the removed token profile input.
- Moving to the Declared token encoding reports as restrictive, as
profile composition already treats it. A regression test covers both
directions.
