This performs decryption of the challenge-response table in the Xbox SS in order to fix the hashed output security sector (SS) file.
It does so as part of the cleaning step, no longer just normalizing the angles but also normalizing the challenge and response data to what is expected. This ensures the data is normalized and will match across dumps of identically mastered discs.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved XGD2 and XGD3 security-sector processing by validating challenge data and normalizing valid challenge responses.
    • Corrected handling of challenge-response data and Omnidrive drive-table processing.
    • Invalid XGD2 or XGD3 security sectors are no longer written to .ss output or added to disc metadata.
    • Updated the status reported for non-XGD1 discs processed by Omnidrive.
  • New Features
    • Added AES-128 block decryption support.

Walkthrough

The Xbox security descriptor now uses typed challenge and drive records. XGD2 and XGD3 challenge responses are decrypted, validated, and normalized. Range extraction, XGD3 merging, and Omnidrive descrambling use the drive tables. Invalid security sectors are not written to .ss or added to ROM metadata.

Changes: Xbox security descriptor updates

Layer / File(s) Summary
Typed descriptor records
dvd/xbox.ixx
The descriptor replaces opaque challenge-response and range layouts with typed challenge and drive records.
Challenge-response validation and rebuilding
hash/aes128.ixx, dvd/xbox.ixx, dvd/dvd_split.ixx
AES-128 block decryption supports challenge-table processing. For XGD2 and XGD3, challenge handling decrypts and validates challenge-table data before updating the first eight responses. The Xbox split flow writes the .ss file and ROM entry only when cleaning succeeds.
Drive-table operations
dvd/xbox.ixx
XGD3 merging, range extraction, and Omnidrive descrambling use the typed drive tables. The non-XGD1 status message changes to "zeroed".

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the two cases the change fixes: SS output when using OmniDrive, and partial Kreon SS. The changeset covers both. The OmniDrive path now descrambles and copies drive-table data, and the status is set to "zeroed" for non-XGD1 discs. The partial Kreon path is handled by the new validation in clean_security_sector, which only normalizes challenge responses when validation passes. The title does not name the main technical change, which is decrypting and normalizing the Xbox challenge-response table. It is still specific enough for a teammate to see the primary subject.

Exclude range entries from challenge-response validation.

For XGD2/XGD3, range extraction treats drive-table entries 0 and 3 as ranges. The validation loop checks the first 21 entries, so it includes both entries.

The loop performs the CID lookup before filtering response.type. A range entry without a matching challenge ID sets valid to false. Compact the candidate indexes after skipping range entries.

Handle failed clean_security_sector calls before comparing.

For invalid XGD2/XGD3 sectors, clean_security_sector returns false and does not complete normalization. The refine path ignores both results and still evaluates ss_file == ss. Two identical invalid sectors can therefore set match to true, allowing the path to proceed as if cleaning and comparison succeeded. Capture both return values and reject or explicitly handle an invalid sector before comparing, consistent with dvd_split.

@coderabbitai If an SS is invalid, we don't want to perform any cleaning before comparison. If they are invalid but match, then refining can continue. If they are invalid and don't match, then the user should force refine. No concern with that issue.

@Deterous Understood. Invalid SS data must remain uncleaned before comparison. If the invalid SS data matches, refining can continue. If it differs, the user must force refine. I withdraw this concern.
