Line break in author list gets squashed to no space

As an example, consider the BibTeX entry for Bloomfield:2012ff at http://inspirehep.net/record/1204763/export/hx:

@article{Bloomfield:2012ff,
      author         = "Bloomfield, Jolyon K. and Flanagan, Éanna É. and Park,
                        Minjoon and Watson, Scott",
...snip...
}

This gets parsed into:

@article{Bloomfield:2012ff,
...snip...
      author        = "Bloomfield, Jolyon K. and Flanagan, Éanna É. and Park,Minjoon and Watson, Scott",
...snip...
}

Notice that there is no space between Park, and Minjoon.
Apparently this does did not actually cause a problem for BibTeX, but it's surprising.
