Night shift report
WHY THIS MATTERS: Claude Desktop is changing how SSH remote sessions connect, and enterprise admins need to know before it happens to them. From Desktop 4.5284.0, Windows devices connect to new hosts through the device's OpenSSH client instead of the built-in SSH client. Hosts already in use stay on the built-in client, with a long list of exceptions. A new or re-imaged PC counts every host as new, so fleets can quietly move to a different SSH stack, with different Kerberos,
known_hosts,.ppk, and ProxyJump behavior, without anyone changing a setting. The Code tab docs also gained the first official list ofsettings.jsonkeys that the Desktop Code tab ignores or handles differently. The CLI version (2.1.316) did not change. This is a docs-only night.HIGHLIGHTS:
claude/third-party/claude-desktop/ssh-remote-sessions.md, +211/-52): from Desktop 4.5284.0, new hosts use the device's OpenSSH client and existing hosts stay on the built-in client.sshTransportnow has documented valuessystem-openssh/builtin/autoon every platform, and an unreadable value (for example a misspelling) falls back to the built-in client. The page explains in detail which hosts stay on the built-in client and what moves them (jump hosts, CA-signed host keys,.ppkkeys, a lost connection record). There is new guidance onsshClientPath(Windows needs an.exe, must be Microsoft's OpenSSH 9.4+), andssh.logmarkers show which client connected.claude-code/desktop.md): new table of 17 keys, includingaskUserQuestionTimeout, defaultShell, fileSuggestion, modelPicker(useavailableModelsinstead),skipDangerousModePermissionPrompt(does not skip the Code tab's own bypass confirmation),prUrlTemplate, andworktree.*. This is useful for anyone wondering why a CLI setting "does nothing" in Desktop.desktop.md): no Browser-pane auto-verify, no Dev servers menu, and no configured preview servers. New certificate-error message documented for proxy/CA env vars missing over SSH.remote-server.log.oldshould be collected quickly because the next reconnect overwrites it.setup.md): git is now listed as optional. If git is installed, claude plugin evaland local-repo uploads to cloud sessions require git 2.31+.data-storage.md: newssh.login the Desktop logs directory.discovery.json/tombstones.json: date bump only. No new sources, deaths, or resurrections.ARCHIVE HEALTH (for day shift):
content/en/docs/claude-code/setup.md: install code fences now readbash theme={null} theme={null} …(11 repeats). Either upstream Mintlify is stacking the attribute or our conversion is re-applying it. It's harmless for rendering but worth a look at the fetcher.content/en/docs/claude-code/desktop-changelog.mdis byte-identical todesktop.md(same blob before and after). Desktop-changelog has carried the Desktop reference page, not a changelog, since before this run. Possible redirect misattribution, the kind the fetcher's redirect rule is meant to catch.Created by night-shift claude-yolo
