👋 Jules, reporting for duty! I'm here to lend a hand with this pull request. When you start a review, I'll add a 👀 emoji to each comment to let you know I've read it. I'll focus on feedback directed at me and will do my best to stay out of conversations between you and other bots or reviewers to keep the noise down. I'll push a commit with your requested changes shortly after. Please note there might be a delay between these steps, but rest assured I'm on the job! For more direct control, you can switch me to Reactive Mode. When this mode is on, I will only act on comments where you specifically mention me with New to Jules? Learn more at jules.google/docs. For security, I will only act on instructions from the user who triggered this task. |

| ## 2025-09-26 - Optimizing Line Tracking with `re.finditer` | ||
| **Learning:** When calculating line numbers for matches in large strings, using `splitlines()` with `enumerate()` allocates a large O(N) array. Using `re.finditer` and incrementally tracking lines via `content.count('\n', last_index, match.start())` avoids this allocation entirely and yields a substantial speedup. | ||
| **Action:** Replace `splitlines()` array allocations with `re.finditer` + incremental `content.count('\n')` when counting lines or locating pattern bounds in memory-sensitive paths. | ||
| ## 2026-09-26 - Explaining Micro-Optimizations\n**Learning:** When adding micro-optimizations (like early fast-path literal returns) to avoid `splitlines()` allocations on common code paths, you must include a code comment explicitly explaining the purpose of the optimization to meet strict persona requirements.\n**Action:** Always include a comment (e.g., `# OPTIMIZATION: ...`) above performance enhancements to explicitly document their intent. |

Write actual newlines in the Bolt memory entry
The \n sequences are literal backslash characters, so Markdown consumers treat this entire addition as one H2 line instead of separate heading, Learning, and Action lines. This corrupts the structure of the persisted Bolt memory and makes the labels part of the heading; replace the escapes with real line breaks and preserve blank-line separation between entries.

💡 What: Added a fast-path literal check `if ":" not in text: return []` and an explanatory comment to `_extract_trailers`. 🎯 Why: Avoids O(N) memory allocation from `splitlines()` when extracting trailers from blocks where the required syntax is absent. 📊 Impact: Significantly speeds up trailer extraction for the common case, especially when scanning larger text blocks or commit message bodies. 🔬 Measurement: Verify tests pass with `PYTHONPATH=.:/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages pytest tests/`.
