fix(sqlite): preserve leading slash in database URLs - #897

With the default config (load_credentials_from_env: true, which Python's analyze_database and the facade's .connection_string() use), the string is rebuilt by to_original_string(), which prepends / to database. That now gives sqlite:////C:/...: on Windows sqlx receives //C:/... (a UNC path) and fails with unable to open database file, where master opened the file. On Linux it works only because // resolves to /.
SQLite has no credentials to merge, so skipping the credential step for the sqlite scheme in apply_environment_configuration would avoid the round trip.

connect sets load_credentials_from_env: false, so this test skips the path users hit. Could it also go through create_connector with the default config?

nit: Fixes #839 will close the issue, but sqlite://rel.sqlite still fails with No database path specified (CodeRabbit's note). Either cover it here or switch to Part of #839.

I’m pretty new. I understand not every change is correct, and passing tests doesn’t mean every dependency has been checked. I appreciate the review and the explanation. I’m here to learn, and I’d rather have a mistake caught and corrected than leave something broken behind. |

Name the rejected form without exposing credentials.
This error must identify the rejected SQLite URL form and provide a supported alternative. Do not include the raw URL, because it can contain credentials. Use a redacted form or the parsed components, followed by an example such as sqlite:///absolute/path or sqlite://relative.db.

Preserve the in-memory SQLite URL.
ConnectionInfo::parse stores sqlite::memory: as a file path. SqliteConnector::connect then passes sqlite://sqlite::memory: to SQLx because it only special-cases the path :memory:. This does not preserve the configured in-memory form and can create a file-backed database.
Handle sqlite::memory: as an in-memory URL, and extend the regression test with PRAGMA database_list so it distinguishes an in-memory database from a file named sqlite::memory:.

Thanks, the three points from the last round are fixed, and each new test fails without its part of the fix. Three small suggestions inline; I applied them together locally and cargo fmt, cargo clippy (1.98) and cargo test -p dataprof-db --features sqlite pass.

sqlite::memory:comment can be resolved without changes: sqlx stripssqlite://and thensqlite:, sosqlite://sqlite::memory:ends up as:memory:.
Query parameters (?mode=ro) are dropped on this path too, but that predates this PR and is tracked in #912; no need to handle it here.

sqlite://C:/path still becomes C/path: url reads C as the host. sqlx reads this form as C:/path, so matching it keeps both sides in agreement:

#839 asks that a rejected form names the one to use. Keep the raw URL out, since it may carry a password:
| message: "SQLite URLs do not support credentials or ports".to_string(), | |
| message: "SQLite URLs take no credentials or port; use sqlite:///absolute/path.db, sqlite://relative/path.db or a plain file path".to_string(), |

Hi @Deathburgerz013 , sorry to bother you but this is a needed fix and 0.13 is 10 days away from releasing. I'll take care of it in a few days if changes ain't applied, thanks for your time ! |
|
Closing this one: #990 passes SQLite URLs to sqlx unchanged, which fixes #839 together with #912, so the path handling here is no longer needed. Thanks for the work, @Deathburgerz013. The check that rejects credentials and ports on SQLite URLs is a good idea and may come back as a follow-up. |
Fixes #839.
Preserves the leading slash when parsing SQLite database URLs so absolute paths resolve correctly.
Adds regression coverage for SQLite URL parsing and opening an existing database.
