Updates every action in build_addon.yml to its current major version, in one go. Supersedes #49, #54, #57 and #58, which were based on an older version of the workflow.

Action From To
actions/checkout v4 v7
actions/setup-python v5 v7
actions/upload-artifact v4 v7
actions/download-artifact v4 v8
softprops/action-gh-release v2 v3

Breaking changes checked against this workflow:

  • download-artifact v5 changed the path for downloads by ID; this workflow downloads by name, which is unchanged. v8 fails on a hash mismatch instead of warning, which is the safer behaviour.
  • action-gh-release v3, and the other majors, move to the Node 24 runtime, which GitHub-hosted runners provide. Inputs are unchanged.
  • upload-artifact v7 adds an optional archive input; the default still zips.

The release job only runs for a new version, so action-gh-release v3 will first run at the next release.

Dependabot now groups all action updates, major ones included, into a single pull request, so they no longer arrive one by one.

Merging this does not publish a release: the version is still 1.12.1, which is already tagged.

Supersedes Dependabot's #49, #54, #57 and #58, which had waited up to
seven months and were based on an older build_addon.yml:

- actions/checkout 4 -> 7
- actions/setup-python 5 -> 7
- actions/upload-artifact 4 -> 7
- actions/download-artifact 4 -> 8
- softprops/action-gh-release 2 -> 3

The breaking changes don't affect this workflow: the path change in
download-artifact applies to downloads by ID (this one downloads by
name), v8 now fails on a corrupted download instead of warning, and the
other majors move to the Node 24 runtime that GitHub-hosted runners
provide.

Dependabot now groups every action update into a single pull request,
major ones included, instead of grouping only minor and patch updates.
