Review Summary
This PR addresses two solid improvements: (1) isolating unloadable LINML_EP_LIBRARIES plugin entries so a broken MIGraphX mapping no longer crashes unrelated commands, and (2) bumping TensorRT-RTX to 0.5.0 (TensorRT-RTX 1.7.1) with a version-marker file for accurate freshness detection.
The overall approach in RegisterEpLibraries, ProviderUnavailableHint, and the version-marker mechanism in PluginPackageSpec is well-structured. The zsh IFS-splitting fix in env-gpu-deps.sh for TRT-RTX and OpenVINO is correct.
Issues that need attention
Critical — zsh compatibility regression (the core purpose of this PR):
The stale-MIGraphX removal in the elif branch of env-gpu-deps.sh (lines 178–187) still uses bash-only ${var//pattern/replacement} parameter expansion. This silently fails in zsh, leaving the stale vendored MIGraphX entry in LINML_EP_LIBRARIES even after the runtime is gone — exactly the bug this PR aimed to fix. See inline comment on scripts/env-gpu-deps.sh.
Potential crash — BundledLibraryHandles is not thread-safe:
ProviderArgs.BundledLibraryHandles is a static List<IntPtr> mutated via AddRange from ResolveEpLibraries/ResolveWslVariant. RegisterCatalogPlugins calls ResolveEpLibraries in a loop for every known plugin, and if any caller is ever parallelised, concurrent mutations will corrupt the list. Repeated calls also accumulate duplicate handles. See inline comment on src/LinML.Cli/ProviderArgs.cs.
Bug — x86_64 libcudart.so.13 symlink hardcodes a specific patch version:
fetch_trt_rtx() in scripts/fetch-ep-plugins.sh checks for libcudart.so.13.4.36 rather than using a glob. The aarch64 path and the C# CreateRequiredSymlinks were both updated in this PR to use version-agnostic discovery. The x86_64 shell path was missed and will silently produce no symlink if the wheel ships a different patch. See inline comment on scripts/fetch-ep-plugins.sh.

- Bump the stock trt-rtx pin (x86_64 and aarch64) from onnxruntime-ep-nv-tensorrt-rtx-cu13 0.4.0 to 0.5.0, which bundles TensorRT-RTX 1.7.1 instead of 1.6.1. Same ABI and minimum ORT. - SONAME links (libtensorrt_rtx.so.1, libtensorrt_onnxparser_rtx.so.1) follow whichever runtime version is vendored instead of a hardcoded 1.6.1, which would have left the 0.5.0 EP unable to load. - The wheel records no version, so a vendored 0.4.0 counted as installed. PluginPackageSpec.VersionMarkerFile names a file only the pinned build ships (libtensorrt_rtx.so.1.7.1); an install without it is replaced, in the installer and in scripts/fetch-ep-plugins.sh. - The patched WSL2 build stays at 0.4.0-wsl2p2 (fix expected upstream in NVIDIA/TensorRT-RTX-EP-ABI#12). It links the stock runtime by SONAME and passes TensorrtRtxWsl2EndToEndTests on 1.7.1 (WSL2, RTX 5070). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

ResolveEpLibrariesaddsLINML_EP_LIBRARIESmappings before provider-specific mappings. A failing inherited mapping can therefore stopPluginEpRegistry.EnsureRegisteredbefore the candidate plugin registers. The candidate-level catch then omits that provider from discovery. 172-174: 🩺 Stability & AvailabilityThe comment does not establish a runtime incompatibility. A build requirement for ORT 1.30.0 does not prove that the published 0.5.0 wheel fails with LinML’s ORT 1.31.0. Runtime validation may be useful, but the supplied evidence does not support raising a major issue.

If the sourcing shell has
pipefailenabled, grep -qcan close the pipe while an upstream command is still writing. That command can exit on SIGPIPE. The helper then reports that the MIGraphX runtime is missing and removes its mapping, even though it found the library. Usegrep ... >/dev/nullwithout-qin both pipelines so they consume all output. fetch_trt_rtx hardcoded libcudart.so.13.4.36, so a wheel with another CUDA patch version would silently skip the libcudart.so.13 link and the EP would fail to load. Discover it as fetch_trt_rtx_arm64 and the installer do. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…mands On a host with the MIGraphX plugin vendored but no ROCm (libmigraphx_c.so.3 missing), sourcing env-gpu-deps.sh mapped MIGraphX anyway, and every CLI command then died with an unhandled ArgumentException from plugin registration (35 failures in LinML.Cli.Tests with the env sourced). - env-gpu-deps.sh maps the vendored MIGraphX plugin only when libmigraphx_c.so.3 resolves (LD_LIBRARY_PATH or the ldconfig cache), and drops the vendored mapping a previous source exported when it does not. - ProviderArgs.RegisterEpLibraries registers libraries one at a time: a library from --ep-library or for the requested provider still fails fast; any other that fails to load is skipped with a warning and left out of the libraries passed on. Used by providers list, doctor, run, serve and bench, so e.g. `run --provider cpu` no longer fails on a broken MIGraphX mapping. - `run`/`serve --require-provider` and provider selection failures use the same applicability rule as doctor (ProviderUnavailableHint): a provider this host cannot run is reported as not applicable, with no install hint; the install hint remains for a plugin that could run but is not installed. Run_MissingRequiredPlugin_Returns3_WithInstallHint now passes whether or not MIGraphX is vendored. - The TRT-RTX and OpenVINO stale-mapping cleanup in env-gpu-deps.sh peeled entries via IFS word-splitting, which zsh does not do: sourced from zsh it could drop unrelated mappings. It now walks entries with parameter expansion and behaves identically in bash and zsh. - ProviderArgsTests clears an inherited LINML_EP_LIBRARIES per test, so the ResolveEpLibraries tests pass in a shell that sourced env-gpu-deps.sh. Compare
… install - bench --all-ready registers each candidate with RegisterEpLibraries, so an unrelated inherited LINML_EP_LIBRARIES mapping that fails to load no longer drops the candidate from the list; its own mapping failing still does. - doctor names a skipped LINML_EP_LIBRARIES mapping on stderr, so one for a non-catalog provider is not dropped silently. - EnsureReadyAsync replaces a vendored stock build that is not the pinned one (a 0.4.0 TensorRT-RTX install, per its version marker) when downloads are allowed, on both the stock and the WSL2 path, as it already did for the patched WSL2 build. If the update cannot be fetched the earlier build stays in use and the result says why. - The README's standalone TensorRT-RTX install extracts into a staging directory and swaps it in, so upgrading over 0.4.0 does not leave the 1.6.1 runtime beside 1.7.1. - fetch-ep-plugins.sh: keep the x86_64 cudart lookup variable local. Re the outside-diff finding on 🤖 Addressed by Claude Code |
- env-gpu-deps.sh drops the stale vendored MIGraphX mapping with the same
entry-by-entry loop as the TensorRT-RTX and OpenVINO cleanups, instead of
${var//pat/rep}. Behaviour is unchanged (that expansion works in bash and
zsh); the script now uses one technique throughout.
- ProviderArgs keeps bundled runtime library handles in a locked set, so
concurrent resolution cannot corrupt it and re-resolving a plugin does
not record a handle twice.

Summary
Two changes, in separate commits:
1. A plugin library in
LINML_EP_LIBRARIESthat won't load no longer breaks unrelated commands (2f9ebdb)On a host with the MIGraphX plugin vendored but no ROCm (
libmigraphx_c.so.3missing),source scripts/env-gpu-deps.shmapped MIGraphX anyway. Every CLI command (providers list, doctor, run, serve, bench) then died with an unhandledArgumentExceptionfromProviderArgs.EnsureEpLibrariesRegistered, and 35 tests inLinML.Cli.Testsfailed.env-gpu-deps.shadds the vendored MIGraphX plugin only whenlibmigraphx_c.so.3is found (LD_LIBRARY_PATHor theldconfigcache). When it isn't, it removes the vendored mapping an earlier source left behind. A MIGraphX mapping set to another path is kept.ProviderArgs.RegisterEpLibrariesregisters libraries one at a time. A library given with--ep-library, or the one for the requested provider, still fails fast. Any other library that fails to load is skipped with a warning on stderr and is not passed on to session creation. Used byproviders list, doctor, run, serveandbench. This also fixesrun --provider cpu, which crashed on the same broken MIGraphX entry.run/serve --require-providerand provider selection failures now usedoctor's rule (newProviderUnavailableHint). A provider the host lacks the hardware or architecture for is reported as not applicable, with nolinml catalog installhint. The install hint remains for a plugin that could run here but isn't installed. This fixesExitCodeTests.Run_MissingRequiredPlugin_Returns3_WithInstallHint, which failed onmainwhenever MIGraphX was vendored. The test now passes whether or not it is.env-gpu-deps.shsplitLINML_EP_LIBRARIESwithIFS, which zsh doesn't do. Sourced from zsh, it could drop unrelated mappings. It now takes entries off one at a time with parameter expansion and gives the same result in bash and zsh.ProviderArgsTestsclears an inheritedLINML_EP_LIBRARIESfor each test, so theResolveEpLibrariestests pass in a shell that sourced the env script.2.
