Security gate — #2318 at 53d12731 (TASK-234)
Measured at 53d12731f51fe2f67b8efa48760173540ffd6ecd: draft, base main, merge-base b57966d2 = origin/main (base unmoved), 5 files, +204/−16. CI green at this SHA: 14 success, nothing failed, cancelled or pending; mergeStateStatus is CLEAN (the earlier UNSTABLE was a mid-run state). Both touched suites 51/51; tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.typescheck.json 0 errors; eslint 0 errors.
The three properties
A broker call marks the turn, and only from that point. dispatchCtx.brokerCallSeen = true is set inside if (brokerCall) — the dispatch result of dispatchHostedBrokerTool, so a tool listing never sets it (the broker's tools are assembled once per run, outside this branch). The suite pins the direction with only posts after the broker call receive its outbound marker, so the mark is not retroactive.
Every later post carries it — and at this head that is all four post sites. I enumerated them rather than trusting the diff: postMessage({ appears at :656, :702 and :1944, plus the card through proposeAction, and each of the four carries Boolean(ctx.webTainted || ctx.brokerCallSeen) (:667, :712, :766, :1953). The propose_action flag is new — that path had no noOutboundRelay at all before, so this closes a pre-existing gap in the web case too, not only the broker one.
The posting-tool set is also complete for the native surface. Of the twelve native tools (agent_status, create_task, fetch_url, list_tasks, offer_hosted_agent, post_message, propose_action, read_context, read_memory, run_code, web_search, write_memory), exactly three can cause a pod message, and those are the three in POSTING_NATIVE_TOOLS — create_task, agent_status and run_code reach no postMessage or proposeAction.
The bridge is re-read before each later post, now for all three posting tools rather than commonly_post_message alone, and fallbackBlocked re-reads it too. Same widening in dispatchTool's refusal: a newly bridged pod now refuses a later offer or proposal, where before only a post_message was caught. That is a tightening of the web path as well as the broker one.
No tool narrowing — confirmed by where the flag is not. All nine uses of brokerCallSeen are the interface field, the bridged refusal, the four relay flags, the mark itself, the bridge re-read and fallbackBlocked. It appears nowhere in toolsForConfig or the offeredTools assembly, so a granted turn keeps its tools. The arm an unbridged post stays in the pod without narrowing the next tool offer asserts it from the other side.
Mutations
Five, each alone, file restored byte-identical to HEAD afterwards:
| mutation | result |
|---|---|
| the broker call no longer marks the turn | 6 red |
only post_message counts as a posting tool |
2 red — the offer and proposal arms |
| bridge re-read ignores a broker call | 3 red |
fallbackBlocked ignores a broker call |
3 red |
| the proposal card loses its relay flag | 1 red — an approval card receives the outbound marker |
One note: a fifth post site arrives with #2305, and it will not carry this mark
#2305 (32e0b3b3, also held for Wednesday) adds the HOSTED_RUN_FAILED_LINE post, which does not exist on this PR's base — so #2318 cannot reach it, and nothing here is wrong. But in the merged state that site reads webTainted only, at two places:
:2086— the gate!(dispatchCtx.webTainted && await podBridgedNow()):2098—noOutboundRelay: Boolean(dispatchCtx.webTainted)
So a turn that called a granted tool, failed with nothing posted, and sits in a bridged pod would post the fixed line into that pod and carry noOutboundRelay: false. The content leak is nil — the line is a module constant carrying nothing from the grant result — so this is a consistency break in the §12 invariant rather than a disclosure: "every later post carries the mark and re-reads the bridge" would hold at four sites and not the fifth. One line in whichever lands second, and it belongs to #2305, which owns those two expressions.
I checked the reverse direction too: #2305's own post sites (:707, :752, :2053) and #2318's four do not conflict — the union is consistent apart from the two lines above.

The five native reply sites are fenced, but a later broker write can post its approval card without that fence. nativeRuntimeService.ts:1928-1939 calls dispatchHostedBrokerTool without passing the turn's outbound policy. That calls toolBrokerService.ts:1192, whose proposeAction request omits noOutboundRelay. The new forwarding at approvalActionService.ts:473 therefore forwards undefined on this path. This is a second broker call after a first broker result, so marking the turn after each return does not protect the nested post.
Own exact-head reproduction: actual dispatchHostedBrokerTool + callTool complete a GitHub read, then park a GitHub write for confirmation. The captured proposal has no outbound fence; an assertion requiring it fails. Replay through actual proposeAction produces an unfenced [approval needed] post. Replay through actual AgentMessageService.postMessage preserves that omission in the outbound event. Actual relay dispatch with a connected Telegram fixture calls the relay handler once; the identical payload with noOutboundRelay:true calls it zero times. A bridge becoming active after the broker's eligibility check but before this nested post's dispatch therefore remains uncovered.
These are staged boundary tests, not one end-to-end run: broker/approval and message storage use model stubs; relay selection uses MongoMemoryServer and a stubbed external relay handler. The synthetic seat-room id was mapped to the message suite's valid pod id for storage/selection replay. No live provider/network send, real credential, or private broker-result exfiltration is claimed; the observed outbound content is the generic approval text. The first draft harness used the existing test's simplified digest; corrected to the actual ToolCall digest before the successful approval/post replay.
Carry the server-owned outbound policy through broker-created posting side effects as well as native commonly_propose_action. Add a read-then-confirmed-write regression, including a bridge enabled during card persistence, with an unmarked positive control. This closes the requested property that a later post after a broker call cannot reach an outbound relay.
Own Node 22 baseline: 105/105 across native web/broker, guard-stop, approval decider, message storage, and relay-dispatch suites (including the author's focused 72). Three additional staged observation/control tests pass; the required broker-proposal fence assertion fails. Full five-file merge-base diff +228/-18 reviewed; diff check clean; base/main 46da417; final fetched/live head matches. Rubric unchanged; checklist through 56 read. No repository production edits.

Closes my HOLD 5613120872. The turn's server-owned outbound policy now crosses native dispatch, the broker projection, and callTool before a later broker call can create its approval card. The approval service forwards it to message storage and relay dispatch. MCP request arguments are not spread into this server option. Earlier posts and the first broker call retain the intended unmarked behavior.
Own exact-head Node 22 baseline: seven suites, 175/175 pass, including the author's four focused suites and the guard-stop, message-storage, and relay-dispatch suites. The original staged read-then-confirmed-write reproduction now produces a flagged proposal, flagged approval post, and flagged outbound event; actual relay selection invokes no handler. The identical payload without the flag invokes the handler once. All four staged probes pass. These exercise actual projection/broker, approval, postMessage, and dispatcher code, with model/API stubs for the earlier stages and MongoMemoryServer for relay selection. The synthetic seat-room id is mapped to the message fixture's valid pod id as disclosed in the prior review. No live provider, credential, external HTTP send, or single end-to-end run is claimed.
Own independent mutations: removing the native forwarding fails the second-call false/true assertion; removing projection forwarding fails its callTool argument assertion (one failure, 16 positives pass); removing broker-to-approval forwarding fails my original required-fence assertion. Every mutation exits 1 for the intended assertion, all three production files restored byte-equal, and all four staged probes rerun successfully after restoration. Prior five native reply-path evidence remains green in the baseline.
Read the full six-file correction (+24/-1); unchanged prior review carried, full nine-file merge-base diff +252/-19 reviewed. Diff check clean; base 46da417, current main 1b0b3da; final fetched/live head matches. Rubric/checklist unchanged through rule 56. Author tsc/lint results remain attributed, not my own rerun. This gate covers the native turn's subsequent posts and broker-created approval side effect; it does not certify a live deployment or cross-turn provenance policy.

The sole change from my cleared 946856a is the ordinary first hosted call's exact mock expectation: it now includes noOutboundRelay: false. This matches the intended first-call behavior; the later-call fence is unchanged. No production bytes changed.
Own exact-head Node 22 rerun of nativeRuntimeService.hostedBroker.test.js: 22/22 pass, one suite, detectOpenHandles, normal exit 0. My prior seven-suite 175/175 baseline, four staged relay-boundary probes, and three forwarding-removal mutation results carry from review 5613206192 on unchanged production code; they were not rerun for this expectation-only correction. Those probes used actual production stages with model/API stubs and MongoMemoryServer relay selection, not one live end-to-end run or an external HTTP send.
Reviewed the complete one-line correction and its first-call fixture; full PR scope is ten files +253/-19 against merge-base 46da417. Diff check clean, rubric/checklist unchanged, current main 1b0b3da, final fetched/live head matches. Test & Coverage was still running at the CI check; this review does not waive fresh CI. No deployment or cross-turn provenance certification.

A native turn can call a granted broker tool while its pod is unbridged, then post after a channel bridge becomes active. The broker checks the bridge at the call, but every later post must check again and suppress outbound relay.
noOutboundRelayon every later post: direct tool posts, hosted offers, approval cards, final-text fallback, and the fixed reply on a failed hosted turn. The approval service forwards the marker topostMessage.Evidence
tsc:checkpasses. Changed TypeScript lint: 0 errors, 3 existing warnings.git diff --checkclean.TASK-264 / TASK-234. Rhea exact-head re-gate and CI pending. Connector owns the G2 merge press after clearance.
