Scope

Adds a Notion hosted-MCP entry at https://mcp.notion.com/mcp with CIMD and scope default. Wren confirmed the 24 pins against connector-ops's consenting 2026-10-19 65-tool capture. The 22 newly listed tools remain excluded; Calendar tools reach connected accounts outside Notion, and skill configuration can hand instructions to other agents. Agent sessions, skill archives, attachment transfer, connected-source AI search, and tool-access catalogue calls remain excluded.

Wren's fresh-capture ruling is applied at c1e689b, with disclosure assertions added at 50e2b3f. update-view gains irreversible because it can clear shared filters and sorts without a view-specific undo. Descriptions now disclose form settings on create/update-view, parent: memory and top-level teamspace creation on create-pages, and id: memory plus short-lived signed file URLs on fetch. Captured schemas and annotations remain exact. create-pages and update-page can still set is_skill, visible in approval arguments. The catalogue includes a monochrome Notion glyph.

Named writes are class: 'write', the minimum grant tier. The hosted grant mint refuses plain write, so current hosted writes park for member approval. TASK-247 must bind approval to the pinned definition before merge.

Checks

  • Hosted MCP entry suite: 47/47 passed at 50e2b3f, including capture equality, all 22 newly listed exclusions, the irreversible update-view projection, and ruled disclosure fragments for memory, signed file URLs, and form/view changes.
  • Backend TypeScript check and targeted TypeScript ESLint passed. The glyph suite passed at the prior head and is unchanged.
  • Vera's code gate passed at 9f29e4e (review 5568376507), held at c1e689b on missing disclosure assertions (review 5569917466), and passed the test-only fix at exact head 50e2b3f (review 5570127454). Full CI is green.

Holds

Keep this PR draft and unmerged until TASK-247 broker pin binding lands and Wednesday 2026-10-21's serial batch is deployed and walked. Wren's queue puts #2327 after #2329 and #2333; rebase after each predecessor merges, in a push carrying no other change, then verify the range-diff and gate at that rebased head.

Pin-set ruling for this entry, at 32f3563. This rules what is pinned. The code gate is separate.

The rule for every wave 1 entry has three parts:

  • A read is pinned only if it is named, product-scoped, and carries no credential or foreign payload.
  • No tool is pinned whose reach is picked at call time from the vendor's own list, whether that is an operation name, API code, or another agent.
  • Named writes are pinned write, so each call parks for the member who owns the credential. Destructive writes also keep irreversible.

Drop two reads:

  • notion-ai-search. Its own filters description says "Omit for unified search across Notion and connected sources." So by default it reaches whatever third-party sources the workspace has connected. That is outside this product, and drift can't see that list grow. notion-search stays: its schema scopes it to Notion workspace search, and none of its captured text mentions connected sources.
  • notion-get-tool-access. It reports availability, restrictions and upgrade links for every tool Notion shows the connection ("Omit to return all tools visible to this connection"), not for the pin. A seat's tools are the pin, so the answer would describe tools the seat doesn't hold. Our descriptions replace Notion's, so no pinned tool tells a seat to call it first. If the walk shows Notion refusing a pinned tool until it is called, bring it back to this thread.

Keep the folder and view writes. create-folder, update-folder, create-view and update-view are named, product-scoped writes, and each one parks for the member.

  • update-folder keeps irreversible, since it carries destructiveHint: true.
  • Its add_files branch needs ids that only the excluded upload tools produce, and so does update-page's file-upload id. Both fail at Notion and widen nothing.
  • Leave both schemas as captured. Write pins compare exactly (hostedMcpEntryService.ts:300), so an edit would read as drift.

The attachment exclusion stands:

  • notion-create-attachment takes a source_url that Notion downloads ("A direct, publicly reachable HTTPS URL…"), so its payload is whatever that URL serves.
  • notion-create-file-upload returns a short-lived URL the caller POSTs the file to directly. The broker would hand that capability out and never see it used.
  • notion-download-attachment reads only what create-attachment made.

The other exclusions stand, one of them for a different reason:

  • The ten agent-session tools hand work to another agent, which the rule above excludes.
  • notion-download-skill returns an archive of another agent's instructions, which is a foreign payload.
  • notion-upload-skill imports an archive the approval card can't show the member.
  • The two next-steps tools return vendor guidance, not workspace content.
  • notion-convert-page-to-skill is out as a duplicate, not as a safety line. update-page carries is_skill ("Set to true to mark this page as a skill"), and so does create-pages. Both writes stay, because the approval card shows is_skill: true to the member who approves it. Please make the header say that marking a skill stays reachable through those two writes. As written, the header reads as if the capability were excluded.

Everything else holds: 13 reads and 11 writes, 24 pins. move-pages is right to keep irreversible, because a move re-parents a page and changes the sharing it inherits. The test's 26 becomes 24, and it should also assert that both dropped reads are absent.

I checked Notion's live metadata today, unauthenticated:

  • The authorization server names issuer https://mcp.notion.com and supports CIMD.
  • Its revocation_endpoint is the token URL, so revoke.endpoint is right.
  • The /mcp protected-resource metadata lists default as its only scope. The authorization server also lists ema_issuer:manage; don't request it.
  • Notion's public docs name only the workspace owner's path (Settings → Notion MCP → Manage workspace clients). On the walk, check where a member disconnects, and confirm that revoke.page lands there.

For the re-pin: a tool the fresh capture adds joins only through this thread, under the same rule.

Wren: fresh 2026-10-19 capture (65 tools) is pinned at 9f29e4e. The set remains your 24 approved tools; notion-ai-search and notion-get-tool-access are absent. Calendar and other newly listed tools are excluded pending a separate ruling. The captured schemas now match all 24 pins, and the glyph fixes the prior CI failure. Please confirm the 24-pin set against this fresh capture; the code gate follows green CI.

Code gate on #2327 at 9f29e4e735aa18a7935c375d9ce07834d1ef225a. This is the code gate only; the pin-set ruling is Wren's and is separate.

Property gated: the entry offers exactly the ruled 24 tools, each faithful to the 2026-10-19 capture, over an OAuth surface that matches what Notion actually advertises, with the confirmation floor the ruling asks for on the writes that carry it.

Pin fidelity. 24 pinned against 65 captured. Per tool, the pinned inputSchema is JSON-equal to the capture's (0 diffs) and both annotation hints equal the capture's (0 mismatches) — measured with a positive control that compares one tool's schema against another's capture and reports a difference, so the equality is not a vacuous read. Nothing is pinned that the capture does not contain. The 41 excluded names include every agent-session tool (spawn-session, send-message-to-session, query-sessions, …), every skill transfer, every attachment and file-upload path, delete-pages / delete-databases / restore-pages, comment mutation and reactions, the whole calendar block, and both of the reads the ruling dropped — notion-ai-search and notion-get-tool-access.

The OAuth surface, checked against Notion's published metadata rather than the entry's comment. resource equals the protected-resource document's own resource; issuer equals both its authorization_servers[0] and the AS document's issuer; client: 'cimd' is supported (client_id_metadata_document_supported: true, S256 offered). scopes: ['default'] is the protected resource's only advertised scope, and deliberately omits ema_issuer:manage, which the AS also advertises — the narrower of the two available sets.

revoke.endpoint reads wrong and is right. It is https://mcp.notion.com/token, identical to the token endpoint, which is what a reviewer would flag. Notion advertises "revocation_endpoint": "https://mcp.notion.com/token" — the same URL — so the entry matches the metadata, which is what hostedMcpEntryService says this field must be. Worth stating because the next reader will have the same instinct I did.

Rule 2 of the ruling holds, measured rather than assumed. No pinned tool picks its reach from the vendor's list at call time: every operation selector among the 24 is a closed enum — update-page.command (6 values), update-folder.command (3), create-view.type (10), create-database.database_type (3), search.query_type (2). The remaining "operation" mentions are prose inside descriptions, not selectors.

The irreversible floor is load-bearing, not decorative. The flag travels entry → hostedMcpEntryService.ts:264 → toolBrokerService.ts:1154, where it sets requiresConfirmation. Three pinned tools carry destructiveHint: true (update-page, update-folder, update-data-source) and all three are irreversible; move-pages is irreversible though the vendor calls it non-destructive. So irreversible ⊇ destructive, with no gap.

One clarification a reader of the ruling needs. class: 'write' sets requiredWriteMode: 'write-with-confirm', which is the minimum grant tier the tool demands — it does not by itself park a call. Parking is irreversible || grant.writeMode === 'write-with-confirm' (toolBrokerService.ts:1161, whose comment states the tiering deliberately). So under a connection holding full write, the seven reversible pinned writes — create-pages, create-database, create-folder, create-comment, duplicate-page, create-view, update-view — run unattended; only the four irreversible ones park regardless of tier. That matches the designed tiering and is not a defect here, but "named writes are pinned write, so each call parks" holds only for a write-with-confirm grant. Of those seven, update-view is the one that overwrites existing shared state rather than adding to it, and create-pages / update-page accept an arbitrary external image URL for cover that Notion itself fetches. Both are pin-set observations for your ruling, not code findings.

Descriptions are all 24 rewritten rather than captured, which the ruling calls for ("our descriptions replace Notion's"); update-page's says "or archive", disclosing more than the vendor's own text, and the condensation drops upstream operating notes such as the enhanced-markdown resource — a usability cost, not a safety one.

Runs. Backend hostedMcpEntry + toolInstallables: 61 passed / 61, 2 suites. Frontend platformGlyphCatalogue contract (which imports the backend catalogue and asserts every id has a glyph): 4 passed / 4. tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.typescheck.json: exit 0, no output. Eight mutations, one variable each, restored between runs, worktree tree-identical afterwards (25c7d12a): flipping notion-search to write, widening scopes, dropping the /mcp path from resource, clearing each of the four irreversible flags individually, and removing notion from PLATFORM_GLYPHS — all eight bit.

Merged state. main is not an ancestor: it is 12 commits ahead of the merge-base and touches none of the five files this PR touches. git merge-tree --write-tree is clean (aac1f027), and on that merged tree the backend suites are 61/61 and the glyph contract 4/4.

Limits. I read Notion's metadata documents, not a live consenting authorization: that the pinned 24 are the tools a real token can call, and that the capture's grantedScope: "default" is what a fresh consent returns, remain connector-ops's measurement. Wren's fresh-capture confirmation of the 24 is still open in the thread, and the merge hold and broker pin-binding prerequisite are unchanged by this gate.

GATE: PASS

Correction to one paragraph of my code gate above (review 5568376507); the GATE: PASS at 9f29e4e7 stands unchanged.

I wrote that "under a connection holding full write, the seven reversible pinned writes run unattended". That is accurate about the broker predicate and misleading about this entry, because a hosted connection cannot hold that grant. Rhea pointed at the mint; I checked it rather than taking it:

  • backend/routes/grants.ts:337 refuses writeMode: 'write' on a hosted-mcp row with write_requires_confirm, and its own comment says the mint is "the only place that can keep it out of every attenuated descendant too".
  • createGrant has exactly one non-test caller — grants.ts:414, downstream of that refusal.
  • The only other site that writes a grant's writeMode is the attenuate route at grants.ts:451, which goes through attenuateGrant; that compares WRITE_MODE_RANK[child] > WRITE_MODE_RANK[parent] and throws grant_not_attenuated, so a descendant can never outrank its parent.

So for a Notion connection every pinned write parks: the four irreversible ones by the tool's own floor, and the rest because write-with-confirm is the strongest mode a hosted grant can hold. The ruling's "each call parks for the member who owns the credential" is right as written, and my narrowing of it was not.

What remains true from that paragraph is only the layering: class: 'write' sets requiredWriteMode, and parking is decided by irreversible || grant.writeMode === 'write-with-confirm' at toolBrokerService.ts:1161. The reversible-vs-irreversible distinction therefore does no work for hosted entries today — it would only start mattering if a future mint admitted plain write on a hosted row, which is the thing :337 exists to prevent.

The two pin-set observations I raised for Wren are unaffected: update-view overwrites existing shared state rather than adding to it, and create-pages / update-page accept an arbitrary external image URL for cover that Notion itself fetches.

Pin-set ruling at 9f29e4e. This rules what is pinned. The code gate is separate.

The 24 pins stand against the 2026-10-19 capture. update-view gains irreversible, and four descriptions change. notion-ai-search is no longer listed, and notion-get-tool-access stays out as ruled at 32f3563.

update-view gains irreversible. The code gate's observation is right: it replaces a view's settings rather than adding to them, and its CLEAR directives remove filters, sorts and grouping. A view's saved filters and sorts apply "for everyone in the database view" (notion.com/help/views-filters-and-sorts). The only way back I found in Notion's docs is version history, which restores a whole database's pages and properties, and restoring "may affect existing database views, as well as how other people see the database" (notion.com/help/duplicate-delete-and-restore-content). That is no way back for one view. So update-view is a destructive write in effect, though its hint says otherwise, as Jira's comment edit is (#2328), and §3 puts irreversible on a destructive write.

The 11 writes hold as write. A hosted grant can't be minted at plain write (routes/grants.ts:337), and a grant attenuated from one can't rise above its parent (services/roomGrantService.ts:346). So each call parks for the member with its exact arguments (toolBrokerService.ts:1161–1162). TASK-247 binds that approval to the pin the call parked under, and this PR waits for it.

I read every writer's full captured schema, as I did for Atlassian's (#2328). Three reach more than their descriptions say, and their descriptions should say so:

  • create-view and update-view can configure a form view: open or close it to submissions, make its submissions anonymous, and set whether a respondent can view or edit their response afterwards (FORM in the view DSL; notion.com/help/forms).
  • create-pages can now save a memory (parent: "memory") and create top-level pages in a teamspace. Notion describes memories as what "the user's connected agents saved in earlier sessions", so the member's other agents can read what this saves. It hands no work to an agent at call time, so §3's clause on another agent doesn't reach it. The card shows parent: "memory" to the member who approves, as it shows is_skill.

fetch can now read that memory (id: "memory"), and its description should say so too. The memory is the member's own record, returned as page content like any other page, so fetch stays a read. download-skill is different: it returns an archive of a skill's files to extract and use. fetch's new include_file_urls returns a signed URL for each uploaded file, and Notion says those URLs "expire after a few minutes". Under Asana's ruling (#2333) that is not a credential: each opens only the file its record names, and only briefly.

query-data-sources and query-multiple-data-sources take SQL and stay, unlike Supabase's SQL tools (#2332). The call names its tables: each data source it lists "is exposed as a table named by its URL", and the query sees only those. The SQL is read-only SQLite and picks rows within them. Every table is a Notion data source, so, like JQL and CQL, the query filters one kind of record. Supabase's SQL reaches whatever tables and functions the database holds when it runs, and that is what §3 keeps out.

The 22 tools this capture lists for the first time stay out:

  • The eight calendar tools act on calendars in the member's connected Calendar accounts, which can be Google Workspace accounts. So they reach outside this product, as ai-search did.
  • update-enabled-skills turns skills on or off "for external MCP clients, Notion AI, or both", which hands instructions to other agents. get-enabled-skills leads into the skill download that stays out.
  • The other twelve are tools the entry doesn't need yet. Each can join through this thread, under the same rule.

For the build:

  • add irreversible to update-view, and assert it as the other four are;
  • change the four descriptions above;
  • in the header, extend the irreversible floor to update-view with its reason, and add the 22 newly listed tools to the exclusions with these reasons.

That leaves 13 reads and 11 writes, 24 pins. A tool the next capture adds joins only through this thread, under the same rule.

Re-gate at c1e689b8f0a863dde49fade7d24d8f1a38b22784, against my PASS at 9f29e4e7 (review 5568376507).

The delta is what you describe, and it is an improvement. Same file set; two files changed. notion-update-view gains irreversible: true — the exact point I raised for Wren at the first head, now a code fact rather than an observation. Four descriptions widen to disclose things the schemas always permitted and the cards did not say: that notion-fetch can read the connected user's memory with id: memory and can return short-lived signed file URLs via include_file_urls; that notion-create-pages with parent: memory writes a memory later sessions can read; that create-view controls form submissions and anonymous responses; and that update-view replaces shared settings and can CLEAR filters, sorts and grouping. The header carries the 22 newly-listed exclusions with reasons.

Measured at this head. 24 pins over the 65-tool capture, unchanged; 41 exclusions, unchanged; every inputSchema still JSON-equal to the capture and every annotation pair still matching; the real assessor returns 24 of 24 ok. Irreversible is now five — update-page, move-pages, update-folder, update-data-source, update-view — leaving six reversible writes. Backend hostedMcpEntry + toolInstallables: 61 passed / 61. tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.typescheck.json: exit 0, no output. The new test arms do their job: deleting update-view's irreversible reddens the suite by name.

GATE: HOLD, on one thing, and it is a test gap rather than a defect in the code. The four new descriptions are pinned by nothing. I deleted update-view's "CLEAR can remove filters, sorts and grouping" and the suite passed 47/47; I deleted notion-fetch's memory and signed-URL sentence and it passed 47/47 again. These strings are the member's approval card — they are the only place a reader learns that a read tool reaches the user's memory and can mint signed file URLs — and the next touch of this file can drop them silently.

This batch has already set the bar twice over. #2331 asserts both of its ruled disclosures and my mutations against them bit; #2329 asserts expect(resource.description).toContain('by type and ID'). Notion's ruling asked for descriptions in the same way and the suite does not hold them.

The remedy is three or four toContain assertions inside the existing Notion test, on the load-bearing fragments rather than whole sentences — e.g. memory/include_file_urls on notion-fetch, parent: memory on create-pages, CLEAR on update-view. Everything else at this head clears, so a test-only push should pass immediately; the production delta needs no change.

Re-gate at 50e2b3fb8c050de99f090c750f7e19267a6b8fe5. Previous verdict: HOLD at c1e689b8 (review 5569917466). The held item is fixed.

Test-only, measured rather than read off --stat. Same file set across the two heads, one file changed, and every production path byte-identical: notion.ts (faf2c15f), entries.ts, the glyph map, and the capture fixture all hash the same at c1e689b8 and here. So the pin-set, schema, annotation and assessment measurements from the previous re-gate carry unchanged, and only the new assertions needed exercising.

Each new assertion bites, one mutation per fragment. Five mutations, one variable each, restored between runs, worktree tree-identical afterwards (f7dc111e):

disclosure removed from the entry result
notion-fetch — id: memory 1 failed / 47
notion-fetch — include_file_urls 1 failed / 47
notion-create-pages — parent: memory 1 failed / 47
notion-create-view — anonymous responses 1 failed / 47
notion-update-view — the CLEAR clause 1 failed / 47

I changed the entry's wording rather than deleting whole sentences in four of the five, so each arm is shown to fail on its own fragment and not on a collapsed description. The fragments chosen are also the right granularity: they pin the disclosed capability, not the prose around it, so later copy edits stay cheap.

At this head. Backend hostedMcpEntry + toolInstallables: 61 passed / 61. tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.typescheck.json: exit 0, no output. CI green at this exact head.

Merged state. main is not an ancestor — it is 12 commits ahead of the merge-base and touches none of the files this PR touches. git merge-tree --write-tree is clean (46e7e038), and on that merged tree the two suites are 61/61.

The hold is lifted. Everything in my c1e689b8 re-gate stands: 24 pins over the 65-tool capture, 41 exclusions, schemas and annotations capture-equal, 24/24 assessing ok, five irreversible pins including update-view. The earlier 9f29e4e7 corrections remain on the record — the mint refuses plain write on a hosted row, so every pinned write parks.

…entries (combines #2327, #2331, #2332)

One PR for three hosted-MCP catalogue entries, each already gated on its own
(Vera, 10-19: #2327 at 50e2b3f, #2331 at 5a4e706, #2332 at b3fb5c2).
Applied in that order onto main 40ce85e. Each merged cleanly with main on
its own; together they collided only where each appended to the same list or
file. Every resolution keeps both sides:

- backend/integrations/hostedMcp/entries.ts: the three imports and all three
entries, in the order notion, gitlab, supabase.
- frontend/src/v2/icons/platforms/index.tsx: the three glyph components, each
closed by its own `);`, and the three PLATFORM_GLYPHS keys.
- backend/__tests__/unit/services/hostedMcpEntry.test.js: the three capture
requires, the catalogue id list (all seven ids), and the three pin tests,
each closed by its own `});`.

No other line differs from the three gated heads.

Superseded by #2429, which carries this entry together with the other two (Notion, GitLab.com and Supabase) as one rebased head, so there's one PR to keep green instead of four. The branch stays; review continues on #2429.
