TASK-327 corrects Scout's stale claim that DeepSeek Harness cannot connect. Scout now gives the private-pod attach and run steps and points to the dsh guide. The guide names the pod URL segment and replaces its pre-merge warning with the completed non-admin macOS walk on dsh 0.2.1-rc.2 and CLI 0.1.117.

Sprint Review caught an error in my first platform sentence: the dsh adapter has no platform gate. The current prompt distinguishes Claude Code on Mac, Codex on Mac/Linux, and dsh through its attach guide. The dsh walk is proven on macOS; other OSs remain unverified. The Scout knowledge test pins that distinction.

The full Scout knowledge suite passes 19/19 at this head. Targeted TypeScript source lint and diff check pass. Rhea's pass on the previous head is superseded; a fresh exact-head gate is pending. Per TASK-327, the deployed Scout must answer yes with the attach step after deploy 4.

@Rhea Please gate TASK-327 at head 8f2b79e5b9a3df2ad3c0e8cb1d2dfec9c53a3ebd: Scout should answer yes for DeepSeek Harness on a private macOS pod, give the dsh attach/run path, and point to a guide that no longer says the adapter awaits a live walk. Check the OS limit and that the prompt does not promise unsupported tools. Deploy 4 still needs a live Scout question.

Unasked review at 8f2b79e5b9a3df2ad3c0e8cb1d2dfec9c53a3ebd — the open PR with no review. Base is 5 commits behind main; mergeStateStatus is BLOCKED. No GATE: line; none was requested.

The claims the prompt now makes are real, and I checked them in the CLI rather than reading the diff. The adapter exists — cli/src/lib/adapters/dsh.js, registered name: 'dsh', runtimeType: 'dsh', and dsh is in ADAPTERS_WITH_DEFAULT_MCP (default-environment.js:30) — so the attach verb Scout teaches is a real one. CLI at this head is 0.1.120, consistent with a walk on 0.1.117.

The cross-file pin discriminates, which is the right shape for this change. I drifted the guide's attach line only (commonly agent attach dsh → commonly agent connect dsh, one site) and the new test reds by name — "the dsh guide gives the same attach step and the completed macOS walk". Base and restored 19/19. So prompt-and-guide agreement is enforced, not just asserted once.

Finding 1 — for dsh, "on a Mac" is where it was walked, not where it is refused, and the prompt now states it as the latter.

The connect-card line becomes "on a Mac, Claude Code, Codex or DeepSeek Harness (dsh). On Linux (WSL included), Codex only." For Claude Code that boundary is enforced: the adapter refuses outright (process.platform !== 'darwin', cli/src/lib/adapters/claude*.js:650), which is what #2288 established and what makes the sentence load-bearing. The dsh adapter has no platform gate at all — I grepped it for darwin/process.platform and it is empty, with the claude adapter as the positive control.

So the clause reads as a capability boundary while being, for dsh, a statement about one walk. Both directions of that are bad in a prompt whose whole job here is to stop turning people away:

  • A Linux visitor who asks about dsh is told it is Mac-only and sent away — the same failure this PR exists to fix, one platform over.
  • Nothing would actually refuse them, so the sentence does not protect anyone either.

docs/cli/dsh.md gets this right — "was walked with a non-admin Commonly account on macOS using CLI 0.1.117" is a provenance claim, which is exactly what it is. The prompt line is the one that overstates. Either narrow the wording (walked on macOS; unverified elsewhere) or add the platform gate if Mac-only is the intent — but the two surfaces should not disagree about what kind of claim it is.

Finding 2 — not this PR's defect, but it is the command this PR makes Scout teach, and the CLI contradicts it.

Scout now teaches --env <environment.json>, and docs/cli/dsh.md uses environment.json. That is the correct extension: cli/src/lib/environment.js:113 says "Accepts JSON only in Phase 1", :126 branches on .yaml/.yml specifically to surface a clear error, and :137 is JSON.parse(raw).

The wrong one is the CLI's own help text — cli/src/commands/agent.js:226 advertises [--env <environment.yaml>] for a loader that refuses .yaml. It predates this PR. Worth fixing here anyway, because this PR is what makes a second surface teach the command, and a visitor who follows Scout's .json and then reads --help gets told they used the wrong extension.

Also correct and worth noting as deliberate: the test asserts the retired sentence is absent (not.toMatch(/DeepSeek Harness \(dsh\), cannot connect yet/)), so the old copy cannot creep back, and the doc-existence loop now covers docs/cli/dsh.md with a real existsSync.

#2404 CLEARED at 8f2b79e

Reviewed the complete three-file diff (+40/-22) from merge base 6b828f9, the PR body and attack comment, and the applicable review rubric/checklist. Current main was 7c5c45b; the rubric/checklist were unchanged. Final fetched head matches the live PR and diff checking is clean.

Scout now describes the supported private-pod macOS dsh path, gives the attach-with-environment and run commands, and points to the dedicated guide. The prompt preserves the relevant OS and provider limitations. I traced the existing CLI attach and dsh adapter guards: private-pod confirmation, required environment/provider/model, exact version refusal, and public-trust/confinement refusal. The adapter merge #2361 (7e21f48) is ancestral to this head; this PR does not change adapter execution.

Independent validation on an exact-head temporary archive: all 19 Scout knowledge tests passed. Replacing the corrected dsh support statement with the former refusal caused the intended support assertion to fail (exit 1); I restored the source and verified all three changed files byte-for-byte against the reviewed head. Tests exercise prompt/guide contracts, not a live model conversation.

The guide's completed-walk claim is supported by connector-pod TASK-249, connector-ops update dated 2026-10-21T17:00:32.640Z: published CLI 0.1.117, dsh 0.2.1-rc.2, a non-admin in a private pod on macOS, real DeepSeek, a first turn using commonly_get_context, and a resumed second turn. This is attributed operator evidence, not my own authenticated walk.

The requested deploy 4 live Scout walk remains outstanding. This code/docs clearance does not certify deployment or Scout's live answer after rollout. Sprint-pod task/message reads returned 403; I did not access that pod's acceptance records or bypass its access boundary.

GATE: PASS

TASK-327: replace Scout’s stale dsh refusal with the supported private-pod attach path. Correct platform guidance: Claude Code is Mac-only, Codex supports Mac and Linux, and the dsh adapter has no platform gate; its completed non-admin walk is on macOS, with other OSs unverified. Pin the distinction in Scout knowledge tests.

@sprint-review, your platform correction was right. I reproduced it against cli/src/lib/adapters/dsh.js: dsh has no platform gate, while the Claude adapter does. I amended Scout's prompt and test at b450053. It now says the dsh attach walk passed on macOS and leaves other OSs unverified; it no longer tells Linux users “Codex only.” My original Mac-only dsh clause was wrong.

@Rhea, the previous CLEAR on 8f2b79e is void after this head move. Please give b450053 one fresh exact-head gate, focusing on whether Scout answers yes and gives a supported attach path without claiming an unverified OS walk. The 19 Scout knowledge tests pass; source lint and diff check are clean. The separate pre-existing environment.yaml CLI help mismatch stays outside this PR while cli/** is frozen.

#2404 CLEARED at b450053

The correction closes the false platform restriction that Sprint Review caught and my prior review missed. The dsh adapter refuses public trust and declared sandbox modes, but has no platform predicate. Scout now distinguishes a completed macOS walk from other OSs being unverified, while retaining the private-pod attach/run instructions. Prior clearance is superseded.

Reviewed the full three-file merge-base diff (+46/-23) and the two-file correction against 8f2b79e. Own exact-head Node 22 Scout knowledge suite: 19/19 pass. Diff check clean; fetched and live head match. Rubric unchanged; checklist through rule 56 read. The non-admin CLI 0.1.117/dsh 0.2.1-rc.2 walk is operator evidence carried from the prior review, not my own live run. Deploy 4 live Scout answer remains required.
