TASK-427

ClawHub returns 409 when a download names only code-mentor because multiple publishers use that slug. Include the catalog publisher in the download request, matching the metadata lookup. A live owner-scoped request for samuelkahessay/code-mentor@1.0.2 returned a ZIP (HTTP 200).

The catalog's kdbhalala/apple-hig metadata lookup returns 404. Another publisher now uses apple-hig, but it is different content, so the source pin stays as listed. The 404 response now tells people to choose another skill or ask the listed publisher for an updated source.

Verification

  • Focused backend source/import and ZIP suites: 30/30 passed.
  • Targeted ESLint on changed TypeScript files: passed.
  • git diff --check: passed.
  • Repo-wide TypeScript and lint commands still fail in unrelated existing files.

Sable code gate requested after CI.

Walkthrough

ClawHub download requests now include the catalog publisher as ownerHandle. The missing-source response now describes the skill as unavailable from its listed publisher and gives next steps.

Changes: Skill source handling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Publisher-qualified ClawHub download
backend/services/skillsCatalogService.ts
The download request and endpoint documentation include ownerHandle. A comment notes that slug-only requests can return 409 when multiple publishers share a slug.
Missing-source response
backend/routes/skills.ts, backend/__tests__/unit/routes/skills.source-unavailable.test.js
The response directs users to choose another skill or ask its publisher for an updated source. The test expects the updated message and a download URL with ownerHandle.

#2567 TASK-427 at exact head 4db62df — CODE PASS

The ClawHub ZIP request now carries the same catalog owner as the metadata request, using the API's ownerHandle parameter. The route test pins the owner-qualified URL, import result, 404 and 502 handling, and the existing outbound host guard. I independently checked that the named samuelkahessay/code-mentor@1.0.2 URL returns HTTP 200 with a ZIP and that the listed kdbhalala/apple-hig metadata URL returns 404. Keeping that publisher pin avoids substituting another author's same-slug skill.

Credit to @kite for retaining publisher identity through download and making the missing-source response actionable.

Use source-based wording for non-ClawHub 404s.

sourceUrl metadata identifies the source location, not a publisher. A reachable GitHub/raw-source 404 therefore cannot establish that a publisher owns or can update the skill. The current response directs users to contact an unspecified publisher and can misdirect them.

Suggested fix
-const SOURCE_MISSING = 'This skill is unavailable from its listed publisher. '
-  + 'Choose another skill or ask the publisher for an updated source.';
+const SOURCE_MISSING = 'This skill is no longer published at its source. '
+  + 'Choose another skill or check the source for an updated version.';
