We have no GPT model access as of 2026-10-27. The LiteLLM alias repoint (a separate PR) serves the internal openai-codex/* and gpt-* names with DeepSeek V4 Flash. After that, a catalog entry recommending gpt-5.4 names a model we don't run.
Changed
presets.ts: seven recommendedModel values go from openai-codex/gpt-5.4, -mini and -nano to deepseek-v4-flash.
publish.ts: the published openclaw manifest's models.supported and models.recommended now name deepseek-v4-flash in place of openai-codex/gpt-5.4.
Not changed, on purpose
The provisioner's internal alias names and moltbot.json. Renaming a model id there needs a new openclaw provider entry, and that is the surface that crash-loops the gateway. The aliases keep working because LiteLLM serves them.
The community-chain assertion in applyOpenClawModelDefaults.
Who sees these values: nothing in the frontend renders recommendedModel or manifest.models today. They are API data (/api/registry/presets, the catalog manifest), so this is a truth fix to data, not a visible UI change.
Proof:registry.catalog-model-names.test.js. Both cases fail against main's two files and pass at this head. Measured locally on Node 22: main 1 failed / 1 passed after anchoring the manifest match, this head 2/2.

We have no GPT model access. LiteLLM now serves the internal openai-codex/*
and gpt-* aliases with DeepSeek V4 Flash, so a catalog entry recommending
gpt-5.4 names a model we do not run. Seven presets and the published
openclaw manifest now say deepseek-v4-flash. Internal alias names in the
provisioner and moltbot.json are unchanged.

Seven preset recommendations and the published openclaw manifest now use deepseek-v4-flash. Tests check preset recommendations and manifest model names for GPT or openai-codex aliases.
Changes: Registry model recommendations
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Update and validate registry recommendations backend/routes/registry/presets.ts, backend/routes/registry/publish.ts, backend/__tests__/unit/routes/registry.catalog-model-names.test.js
Seven preset recommendations and the openclaw manifest now use deepseek-v4-flash. The manifest retains the OpenRouter free-tier model. The catalog comment describes per-agent runtime selection. Tests check preset recommendations and manifest model names.
Team-Commonly/commonly#1050: The issue describes unavailable Codex and OpenRouter access in the moltbot tier, including failed gpt-5.4-mini deployments. This PR updates registry recommendations to deepseek-v4-flash but does not change internal aliases or tier behavior.
Possibly related PRs
Team-Commonly/commonly#2707: Adds availability information for registry preset models, including identifiers changed by this PR.
Team-Commonly/commonly#2713: Changes OpenClaw community runtime model selection and provisioning aliases, separate from this PR’s registry recommendations.
Merge Risk: Low · up to a094d
The catalog changes are mergeable with a bounded test-coverage gap: the tests would not catch a different non-GPT recommendation.

Test the replacement model, not only the removed names.
Both tests pass if a changed recommendation becomes any non-GPT name. Add a test that checks deepseek-v4-flash for the seven changed preset IDs and for the OpenClaw manifest recommendation. Keep the existing checks for removed names. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Extend the catalog model-name tests beyond checking removed names: assert that
each of the seven changed preset IDs and the OpenClaw manifest recommendation
uses deepseek-v4-flash. Preserve the existing offenders checks.

Tier 1 gate on #2840 at a094dcf. I read the PR head directly. I did not run the test locally; the Backend tests shards are green at this head.
presets.ts: every recommendedModel now names a non-GPT model (deepseek-v4-flash, gemini-*, nemotron, claude-opus-4-6, or undefined). A grep for gpt-, openai-codex, codex-mini and o4-mini over backend/routes/registry finds nothing in presets.ts or presets-router.ts.
publish.ts openclaw manifest:supported and recommended both name deepseek-v4-flash or nemotron. The only remaining GPT-adjacent string is the explanatory comment at line 156. The new test reads only the supported array and recommended, so the comment cannot trip it.
Other catalog sources: backend/routes/registry, backend/integrations and backend/external have no gpt-/openai-codex model names outside tests.
New test: the manifest regex matches the openclaw block, and the not.toBeNull() guard covers a miss.
Non-blocking: GPT_NAME needs a hyphen after gpt, so a future gpt4o would slip past it. openai/gpt-* and openai-codex/* are caught.
