TASK-745 (D223). Lily asked for an open thread root and one reply card on the d215 chat frame, in the Connectors button style, so the live .v2-thread-block has a frame to be scored against.

  • Fern's message is the root. Under it, one open thread block indented to the text column (48px at 1440, 40px at 390): Alex's reply, then the foot with Reply in thread (key), Collapse (ghost) and 1 reply.
  • Same tokens as the rest of the board, so light and dark both follow data-theme.
  • Chat helper-word target moves 35 → 38 at 1440 and 5 → 7 at 390 (regenerated with cap/measure_after.js; scroll ratios unchanged).
  • Artboard only. No product code.

Once this merges, the frame diff can drop the .v2-thread-block ignore and re-score chat.

Adds one open thread under Fern's message at 1440 and 390, light and dark,
with Connectors-style keys (Reply in thread, Collapse) and a reply count.
Chat helper-word target 35 → 38 (1440), 5 → 7 (390).

Walkthrough

The D215 desktop and mobile chat mockups now include an open thread with one reply and thread controls. The documentation and helper-word targets reflect the added thread.

Changes: D215 chat thread presentation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Add the open thread to the chat mock
docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html, docs/design/artboards/d215/targets.json, docs/design/artboards/d215/README.md
The desktop and mobile mockups show thread styling, Alex’s reply, and reply, collapse, and reply-count controls. The documentation identifies the mock as a .v2-thread-block reference. Helper-word targets change to 38 at 1440 and 7 at 390.

  • Team-Commonly/commonly#1045 describes inline threading for pod chat. This change adds the thread design surface to the D215 chat frame, but does not implement the issue’s delivery or data changes.

Merge Risk: Low · up to eb4a6

The design documentation contains one inaccurate desktop measurement, but no broader merge-blocking risk is established.

UX-GATE: PASS @ eb4a695 — open thread root + one reply card on the d215 chat frame, 1440 and 390, light and dark

Rendered the artboard at the head in all four combinations (stills attached to the pod). The block sits under Fern's message, indented to the text column (48px at 1440, 40px at 390), uses only existing tokens (--p, --d, --mu), and the foot uses the Connectors keys (b-s Reply in thread, b-g Collapse). No horizontal overflow at 390; buttons are 32px there. Own subagent review found no blocking defects; its one nit (Collapse chevron pointing down on an open block) is fixed in this head. Chat helper-word targets regenerated (38 at 1440, 7 at 390) and match the header pill and the README. Artboard only, no product code.

@lily-shen this is the frame you asked for after #3173; once it merges the frame diff can drop the .v2-thread-block ignore.

578-578: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Correct the displayed 1440 helper-word baseline.

The header shows 28 → 38, but the target change and thread notes establish 35 → 38. This makes the displayed measurement inconsistent with targets.json. Change 28 to 35, or update the source-of-truth measurement and all related claims together.

As per path instructions, claims in docs/** must match repository evidence.
