feat(v2): task board, lifted from the d215 frame - #3204
Lifts the task board (/v2/pods/:podId/board) from the d215 artboard's board frames (1440 and 390) into its own sheet, frontend/src/v2/components/V2PodBoard.css, and deletes the board's rules from v2.css (−1,005 lines). Class names stay v2-board__*, so tests and handlers are unchanged.
What changed
Desktop: the frame's header (title, task count, Mine/P0/Unclaimed chips, icon-only search and New task keys), the Pod direction fold, three columns plus the folded Done rail, and cards showing the lease timer and the claimant's face. A blocked card shows blocked only through its column dot and its P0 badge, never a rail.
Phone: a one-row 52px top bar, a tab track over the columns, chips under it, and the drawer as a sheet.
Drawer: the frame's avatars and the two newest updates; older updates fold behind the existing toggle.
Add to Pending opens the existing New task dialog. More and Open in chat aren't built, because the frame doesn't draw them.
Undrawn states moved unchanged, selectors and values included: the open focus panel, focus editor, create dialog, empty column, expanded Done, search, hover/focus-visible, disabled, expired lease, ownership values, watchers, notes and links.
v2-type-floors now also scans V2PodBoard.css.

Checked in a real browser at the head
Local build of this branch against staging, signed in as the staging test seat, on the D215 sample pod (13 tasks).
1440 and 390, light and dark:scrollWidth equals the viewport. The drawer opens, takes focus, and closes on Escape. No page errors.
Phone tabs: each 28px tab hits from 14px above its box to the track edge, 44px in all. Each tab's right edge hands off to the next tab.
Head keys: each hits 6px outside its 32px box. Search's area ends where New task's begins.
Drawer close: hits 8px outside its 28px box on every side.
Chips: 8px apart in en and zh-CN. The gap between chips belongs to P0's area, never to a neighbour's.
Known nit, not fixed: at 320px in English the tabs overflow (329 vs 296px). The track is painted by an absolutely positioned ::before, so it covers only the visible width and the last tab scrolls past it. zh-CN fits at 320 (281px). Repainting the track across the scroll width needs a different construction, and I'd rather do that with the frame owner than guess.
Review
One round, by a fresh-context reviewer given only the diff and the frame. It found no blockers. Taken in 8cc7804: the drawer close's phone hit area, the chip overlap, the update author's name for screen readers, and hover on the ink and soft keys.
Declined: a blocked task no longer shows its claimant.leaseFor only counts claimed/in_progress statuses as claimed, so a blocked card never showed a claimant before this change either.
Left as nits: the 320px track (above), and an invariant that pins flex-shrink on the empty column, which is now inert inside a grid.
Reverse verification
Each fix was removed, v2-layout-invariants was run, the fix was restored, and the suite was run again:
The board (/v2/pods/:podId/board) is redrawn from the d215 board frames
(docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html, s-board, 1440 at L622 and 390 at
L642) and their CSS (board block L331-365 plus the keys, segment, chip, dot,
avatar and showmore primitives). The frame's values are kept; its classes are
drawn in the board's existing v2-board__* names (BYO precedent), plus
v2-board__key / --ghost / --ink / --soft / --icon / --sm for the frame's
.b .b-g .b-p .b-s .ib .b-sm keys. The CSS lives in
frontend/src/v2/components/V2PodBoard.css, scoped to .v2-feature--board, and
every board rule is deleted from v2.css (1,005 lines, the overridden base layer
included; the zh title list entry moves with it). #3174 (card line) and #3179
(no blocked card rail or outline) are kept.
Token map (as the BYO lift): --sf surface, --p bg-subtle, --t surface-tint,
--d border-soft, --b border, --mu text-muted, --se text-secondary,
--ph text-placeholder, --ink text-primary, --ink2 ink-2, --fill-a/-b/-edge
fill-a/-b/-edge, --on-fill on-fill, --c accent, --c-text accent-text,
--c-soft accent-soft, --key-a/-b/-edge key-a/-b/-edge, --sh-key key-inset,
--sh-pop shadow-pop, --av-ring av-ring, --f-display font-display,
--f-body font, --f-mono font-mono (all as --v2-*).
Markup: Back, New task, search, the card hover keys (Start, Block, Done,
Resume, Reopen) and the drawer's Close are icon-only as drawn, each with
aria-label and title carrying the old visible text. The search key moves
into the filter group on desktop. The focus strip gains its bolt; the Mine chip
its person glyph; the Done rail its check and a mono count; Pending gets the
drawn Add to Pending key, which opens the existing create dialog (a new task
always starts in Pending). Cards draw the hollow "Not claimed" ring and, on a
blocked card with a recorded dep, the drawn block mark titled "Needs <dep>".
The drawer heads with id, badge and Close; the title is an h2 in the body;
status is the frame's segment; the ownership list takes the frame's kv grid
and a Depends on row; updates are avatar + text + time with the frame's
showmore toggle. New strings: board.addTo, board.card.needs,
board.detail.depends, board.detail.noDeps (en + zh-CN).
Exceptions to the frame, measured:
- P2 badge keeps --v2-prio-p2-fg (#667085, 4.97:1 on surface; dark #8b94a5
5.77:1). The frame's --ph P2 text is 2.58:1 light / 3.17:1 dark, under 4.5:1.
- "Not claimed" ring uses --v2-text-muted (4.97:1 on surface, 4.76:1 on
bg-subtle; dark 5.77:1 / 5.48:1). The frame's --ph ring is 2.58:1 / 2.46:1,
under 3:1, and it is the card's only open-task mark.
- Priority badge stays 11px (frame 10px is under the 11px mono floor) and P0
stays the red fill (Sam's B-lite ruling, #3179).
- Phone: the 32px top-bar keys get a 44px hit area (::after inset -7px, chat
precedent) and the 24px chips a 44px-tall, min 44px-wide one. Search and New
task sit 8px apart, so their hit areas overlap by 6px.
- Drawer: the overlay stays for click-out and the focus trap; transparent on
desktop as drawn, the dim scrim kept on phones.
- Focus rings restated on chips and phone tabs, whose drawn box-shadows
outrank the shell's focus ring.
- Pulse dots get a prefers-reduced-motion stop; columns scroll inside
.v2-board__col-body (the frame's static mock clips).
Not built: the frame's card More, drawer More and Open in chat (no action
behind them); the Blocked header icon (it duplicates #3179's red dot); the
drawer's pr kv row (the PR link stays in the meta row).
Invariants (v2-layout-invariants.test.ts), re-pointed at V2PodBoard.css:
field focus ring; col-empty flex-shrink; card title (now 2-line clamp, the
frame's); lease (now accent-text, renamed); card actions (now 24px icon keys,
renamed from the 32px text chip test); B3 New task (now the ink fill
gradient); the focus panel test (strip 40px replaces the dead border/bg pins);
priority badge (edge as inset ring); blocked (+ red column dot, and no
card--blocked rule in either sheet); owner dots; phone sheet inset; drawer
400px (+ transparent desktop overlay, phone scrim); lease typography (+ the kv
cell sets no font-size); phone head (now the frame's 52px one-row bar + 44px
hit areas; the wrap/100%/order-1/margin-left pins guarded values that no
longer exist); feature-body gutter; TASK-698 scroll (column clips, body
scrolls); focus list bound (now [open] max-height 40vh); TASK-687 columns/tabs
(hover bar top 6px, segment tabs inline-flex). The #3179 card-rail guard and
v2-type-floors now also read V2PodBoard.css; signalTokens' scrim pin is
re-pointed.
Deleted pins (their value no longer exists): updates li border-left 3px;
.v2-board__card flex-shrink 0; .v2-board__focus border/background;
.v2-board__focus-goal 16px (class unused); phone .v2-board__focus padding 14px,
.v2-board__focus-tasks padding-left 0 and li grid areas (the focus panel is
hidden on phones); .v2-board__col overflow-y/max-height 100%.
Type-floor allowlist: .v2-board__card-id and .v2-board__detail-update-author
dropped (the rules are gone; the new sheet clears the floors).

… the frame's avatars and two updates (S4)
Follow-ups to the S4 board lift.
- Phone tabs get the 44px hit area. The tab track is a horizontal scroller,
which clips a child's hit area to its padding box, so the drawn track
(12px below the bar, 2px around the 28px tabs) is now painted by
.v2-board__tabs::before and the track's box starts at the bar
(margin 0 12px; padding 14px 2px 2px). Each tab's ::after reaches 14px up
and 2px down: 44px, ending at the track's edge, where the chips' 10px reach
begins. Rendered position is unchanged (track at 12px, 32px tall, next row
at 44px).
- Search and New task: their 44px areas overlapped by 6px at the frame's 8px
gap. New task takes margin-left 4px on phones, so the keys sit 12px apart
and their areas (6px past each edge) meet without overlap; the keys get
z-index 1, as chat's do. The head's 8px gap is otherwise the frame's.
No two board hit areas on a phone now overlap: head keys end at the bar's
edge (4..48 of 52), tabs at the track's, chips start there.
- Claimant and update avatars in the drawer are the frame's .av--20: 6px
radius with the avatar ring (were 4px). Watchers keep 4px (undrawn).
- The drawer shows the 2 newest updates, as drawn (was 3). The count was a
plain constant picked in #3096 with no stated reason; it is now
VISIBLE_UPDATES and the fold test pins 2.
Copy follow-ups, left for the localization review (each is an en + zh-CN
string change): the frame's bare subtitle count (we say "N tasks"), the
phone title suffix ("Northwind board"), the Done tab's count (the frame
draws none), and the focus eyebrow ("focus"; we say "Pod direction").
Left as they are: the drawer stays a fixed overlay (click-out and the focus
trap), the PR link stays in the meta row (no kv row), and blocked marks show
only the recorded dep (there is no field for the frame's free-text reasons).
Tests: src/v2/__tests__ 148 suites, 1,913 tests passing. The phone-head
invariant adds the no-overlap assertions; the TASK-687 tab pins follow the
track's new box; the TASK-699 test pins the 6px avatars.

… update author for screen readers, key hover (S4)
- The drawer's only close control (a 28px key) takes touches at 44px on a phone.
- Phone filter chips sit 8px apart (frame 6px): the P0 chip's 44px area reached
7px past each edge and overlapped Mine and Unclaimed by 1px.
- A drawer update keeps its author's name, visually hidden; the frame draws only
the face and the initials fallback carried no accessible name.
- The ink New task key and the soft Show key get their hover back.
Each has a presence test.

A fresh-context reviewer read 3e9cc97..8c386c6 with only the diff and the d215 board frame. It found no blockers:
No testids or handlers lost.
Every icon-only key has an aria-label, a title and a t() string.
Add to Pending opens the existing dialog. The drawer's focus trap and Escape hold.
Every --v2-* token resolves in light and dark.
Specificity against the .v2-root resets holds.
The card-rail guard reads the new sheet.
The four should-fix findings it confirmed are fixed in 8cc7804. Each is reverse-verified in the PR body: removing the fix fails its test, restoring it passes. The fifth finding was refuted, with the reason in the PR body.
The merge of main (09f0ccb) touched only v2-type-floors.test.ts. That was a conflict with #3198, which added V2AgentBYO.css to the same list; the resolution scans both sheets. After the merge, the full v2 suite passes (2,076 tests).
Checked in a browser at this head: 1440 and 390, light and dark, phone hit areas measured with elementFromPoint. Results are in the PR body.
The board adds dependency and unclaimed indicators, icon-based controls, a task detail drawer, and expandable update history. Board-specific styles move to a dedicated stylesheet with desktop and phone layouts. Tests cover board behavior and stylesheet rules.

The title "feat(v2): task board, lifted from the d215 frame" matches the main change: the task board at /v2/pods/:podId/board is moved from v2.css into its own V2PodBoard.css sheet and restyled to the D215 frame. It names the board, the v2 scope, and the source design, which is the primary change. It does not cover the many details (contrast exceptions, phone layout, drawer changes), which is expected for a title.

Keep card status indicators in the accessibility tree while the card has focus.
The rule at lines 102-103 uses visibility: hidden on .v2-board__unclaimed and .v2-board__blocked-mark when the card has focus or hover. visibility: hidden also removes an element from the accessibility tree. While a keyboard user focuses the card, its "Not claimed" or "Needs X" status is no longer exposed. Use opacity: 0 instead. It hides the indicator visually and keeps its accessible name. On phones, the action bar is hidden, so nothing replaces the indicator there. Limit the hiding to the desktop width where the action bar overlaps the indicator.

board.card.needs names the task a blocked card waits on (a task ID), not a

Gate for head fa16ca9 (Tier 1, UI). This replaces the gate at 09f0ccb.
What changed since that gate is fa16ca9, a test-only commit. The zh-CN spacing guard didn't know the new {{dep}} placeholder in board.card.needs. That placeholder holds the ID of the task a blocked card waits on, not a count, so the commit declares it opaque. Reverse check: with 'dep' removed the suite fails 1 of 7, and with it restored 7 of 7 pass. The full frontend suite passes at this head: 207 suites, 2,236 tests.
The one CodeRabbit thread is answered and declined: the phone focus strip was already hidden on main.
The earlier review, the browser check and the reverse checks in the PR body still hold. Neither the CSS nor the TSX has changed since.

The only change since that gate is a merge of main, which brought in the settings lift (#3182) and the agent memory lift (#3186). Two conflicts:
v2.css: I took main's file and re-applied this branch's own diff. A line-by-line three-way check (merge base plus this branch's changes plus main's changes) matches the result exactly, with nothing missing and nothing extra.
v2-layout-invariants.test.ts: both sheet constants are kept (boardCss and ss).
The full frontend suite passes at this head: 207 suites, 2,244 tests.
The board's own CSS and TSX haven't changed since the browser check.

Scope the phone touch-target assertion to its CSS rule.

Scope the phone touch-target assertion to its CSS rule.
If the phone min-height: 44px declaration for .v2-board__focus-edit is removed, this regex still passes. It matches the focus-edit selector, then finds a later min-height: 44px declaration for another control. The edit button can fall back to its 32px desktop height without failing this guard. Extract the phone media block and assert the declaration within the focus-edit rule. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
