feat(v2): the approval card reads a connector call as a verb and rows - #3232
Supersedes #2381, carried onto current main. #2381's branch predates the chat-sheet split. Its approval CSS now lives in chat-states.css, alongside the other approval rules, and no longer goes into v2.css.
What changes
The owner reads a parked connector call as a verb ("Merge pull request Add frontend utility tests #4") followed by labelled argument rows. The exact JSON stays one click away under "Exact arguments". Every key in canonicalArgs gets a row, and the verb reads only the number the tool actually uses.
Repository, PR, issue and head rows (plus their links) apply only to github.* tools. On any other tool those keys appear as plain rows under their own names.
If canonicalArgs is not an object, the call is shown as unreadable and Approve stays disabled. Multi-line strings keep their line breaks.
Exception to the lifted frame: on a phone (≤480px), Approve, Decline and the "Exact arguments" toggle are 44px touch targets. They measured 33–34px and 20px before this change. Desktop is unchanged.
zh-CN: the head row reads "HEAD 提交", and "workspace" becomes 工作空间, per the glossary.
Reverse verification
For each fix, I removed it, watched its test fail, restored it, and watched the test pass.
Browser check (Chromium, preview harness, fixture intercepted): 1440 and 390, en and zh-CN, light and dark. No document or card overflow, no console errors. Phone controls measure 44px.
Review: one fresh-context review (Opus) covering correctness, tests, CSS scope, and the zh-CN two-pass with adjudication (no string changes). It found two minor defects, the GitHub-only rows and the row-key collision, and both are fixed in 820a0b0.
Carries #2381 onto current main (TASK-332). The owner reads a parked
connector call as a verb ("Merge pull request #4") and labelled argument
rows, with the exact arguments one click away. The card's CSS now sits in
chat-states.css, which is where the approval rules live since S3, and no
longer in v2.css.
Also in this change:
- Prototype-named argument keys (toString, constructor) render as plain
rows. Label and verb lookups are own-key only, which fixes the crash
from the earlier hold.
- On a phone, Approve, Decline and the exact-arguments toggle are 44px
touch targets. It is a noted exception to the lifted frame, guarded by a presence test.
- zh-CN: the head-commit label is "HEAD 提交", and "workspace" is 工作空间
per the glossary.

Review fixes:
- Repository, pull request, issue and head rows are built only for
github.* tools. On any other tool, owner, repo, issueNumber and headSha
stay plain rows under their own key names, so "owner: alice" never
reads as a repository.
- Row React keys are the JSON of their key list, which cannot collide
with an argument literally named "owner+repo".
- canonicalArgs that is an array leaves the call unreadable, and
Approve stays disabled.
- Any multi-line string argument keeps its line breaks.
- The phone summary carries min-height: 44px and no longer relies on an
inherited line-height.

Fresh-context review (Opus, one round): correctness of what the owner sees, tests, CSS scope, zh-CN two-pass.
No argument is dropped. Every canonicalArgs key ends up in a row, and prototype-named keys render as plain rows with an own-key-only lookup. The verb reads only the tool's required number, which matches toolBrokerService. Links are built only from validated owner/repo segments, positive integers and hex SHAs.
Tests pin the behaviour: each fix is reverse-verified (table in the PR body).
CSS is scoped to .v2-approval__*, and no approval rules remain in v2.css.
zh-CN voice and terminology passes, adjudicated: no string changes.
Two minor defects found at 6ecd3a1, both fixed at this head: GitHub rows are now limited to github.* tools, and row keys can no longer collide. The array-args guard, multi-line block, and summary min-height nits are fixed too, each with a failing-then-passing test.
Browser-checked at this head's CSS: 1440/390 × en/zh × light/dark, no overflow, no console errors, and phone controls are 44px.
The approval card now shows pending tool-call details as localized, labeled argument rows, with validated GitHub links where applicable and a collapsible exact-arguments view. The change also adds responsive styling, translations, tests, and a browser preview.

Tool-call view model and validation frontend/src/v2/components/toolCallView.ts, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/toolCallView.test.ts
A new view model maps supported tools and arguments to display rows and verbs. It validates GitHub links and preserves other arguments. Tests cover GitHub, hosted-MCP, and other tool cases.
Approval card rendering and preview frontend/src/v2/components/V2ApprovalCard.tsx, frontend/src/i18n/locales/en.json, frontend/src/i18n/locales/zh-CN.json, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2ApprovalCardAction.test.tsx, frontend/design-system/preview/approval-readable.*
The card renders readable tool-call details and a collapsible exact-arguments view. It treats array-valued canonical arguments as unavailable. Translations, action tests, and a browser preview support the display.
Argument rows wrap and scroll when needed. At widths up to 480px, rows use one column and approval controls have minimum heights of 44px. Layout tests cover these constraints.
Team-Commonly/commonly#2381: It implements the same approval-card presentation with verbs, labeled argument rows, and exact JSON disclosure.
Team-Commonly/commonly#3210: It establishes the chat stylesheet import path that this change extends with approval-card styles.

Autofix · Keep fixing CodeRabbit findings and required CI, and resolving merge conflicts
Provide a mocked pending-approval response for the preview.
Both fixtures call /api/approvals/pending?podId=pod-1. The preview supplies no response mock or interceptor. The backend rejects pod-1 as a malformed pod ID, and the preview provides no authentication token for the protected route. The cards therefore show loading, then unavailable. They never render the advertised verb, rows, or exact arguments.
Add a preview-only mock for the exact GET request. Return matching merge and inherited approvals with toolCall objects and object-valued canonicalArgs. Do not rely on the currentUser fixture alone; it does not create pending approval data or authenticate the request.

The preview mocked no API, so both cards stopped at "unavailable" and
never showed the verb, rows or exact arguments. A preview-only axios
adapter now answers GET /api/approvals/pending with the two fixture
calls: a GitHub merge, and a non-GitHub call with a multi-line argument
and a toString key.

Re-stamp at 97d8b17. The only change since the PASS at 820a0b0 is frontend/design-system/preview/approval-readable.tsx: a preview-only axios adapter answers GET /api/approvals/pending with two fixture calls. This addresses CodeRabbit's note that the specimen never left "unavailable". Nothing under src/ changed.
Checked in a browser at 390 in en and zh-CN with no request interception. Both cards render the verb and the argument rows, the multi-line argument renders as a block, and there are no console errors.
CodeRabbit's preview note is fixed in 97d8b17: the specimen now answers its own pending-approvals read with fixture calls, so both cards render rows without a server.
The existing approval card tests mock useV2Api, so they do not exercise this interceptor. No test mounts approval-readable.tsx. Add a test that renders both fixture cards and checks their rows without a server. Removing the interceptor should make that test fail.

Add a regression test that mounts the preview implemented in
approval-readable.tsx and renders both fixture cards, asserting their rows
without requiring a server. Ensure the test exercises the pending-approvals
interceptor so removing it causes the test to fail; existing approval card tests
that mock useV2Api are insufficient.

Skipping CodeRabbit's follow-up asking for a jest test of the preview response. design-system/preview/ holds static specimens that aren't app code, and no other specimen has a test. The interceptor was verified where it matters: in a real browser with no request interception, both cards render their verb and rows in en and zh-CN. The card behaviour it shows is covered by toolCallView.test.ts and V2ApprovalCardAction.test.tsx.
