fix(connectors): re-pin Sentry to its 11-01 tools/list - #3283
On commonly.me, seven Sentry reads were refused with tool_drift, search_issues among them. Sentry had changed their input schemas since the 2026-10-19 capture, so a seat granted those tools was not offered them, and a call to one failed. The drift check did its job, and this PR re-pins them.
Found while capturing a real search_issues result for the connector-cards work (TASK-337). The broker refused the call before it reached Sentry.
What the 11-01 list shows
tools/list was taken on 2026-11-01 at 22:13:49Z, with the Lily-owned row's own credential, through listHostedMcpTools. That is the client and outbound guard the drift check uses. It ran from ops-runner. The list has 12 tools, against 15 on 10-19.
A Sentry list depends on the skills the row consented to, not only on what Sentry ships. Per Sentry's own source (getsentry/sentry-mcp main, packages/mcp-core/src/tools/surfaces.ts and skills.ts), update_issue needs the Triage skill and analyze_issue_with_seer needs Seer. This row's list has neither, so it was consented without them. The 10-19 capture was from a Triage row. Sentry grants all five scopes whatever the skills, so the scope can't show which were picked. The fixture records this as inferred.

tool_drift, re-pinned
search_issues
projectSlugOrId respelled the same way; 1h added to the period enum

update_issue

kept, on its 10-19 pin. A row without Triage sees it as tool_unavailable
analyze_issue_with_seer
absent because the row lacks Seer
already excluded
find_organizations, find_projects
unchanged
—
get_sentry_resource
still adds url, which the pin leaves out on purpose
unchanged, ok (compatible)
All seven re-pins are read pins. Each change is a respelling with the same meaning or a wider time window, and none adds a property. So §3's egress check, which applies to each new property and to any value that opens a fetch path, has nothing new to clear. Minutes and 1h pick a time window, not a target. The vendor's description changes are in period and the search_issues tool text. The pin keeps our own tool descriptions. regionUrl, already pinned, names a host, but Sentry's validateRegionUrl allows only the base host or its own region allowlist, over HTTPS, so it is not a caller-chosen target.
Unverified: whether update_issue itself drifted. It is a write pin, held to exact equality, and the same nullable respelling probably reached it. Only a Triage-consented row can show it. If it drifted, it will be refused tool_drift on such a row, the safe direction, until that row's list re-pins it. No Triage row exists on commonly.me today.
Changes
backend/integrations/hostedMcp/sentry.ts: the seven schemas are replaced verbatim with the live ones. find_dropped_events is dropped, and update_issue is kept unchanged. The header says which capture backs which pin, and points at the sweep's note on Sentry's fixed scope set.
backend/__tests__/fixtures/hostedMcp/sentry-tools-list-2026-11-01.json: the new capture, tool metadata only, with the inferred skills. Its hosts are the same vendor examples as the 10-19 fixture's.
the pin is the 11-01 list minus the excluded names, plus update_issue matched against the 10-19 Triage capture;
on the 11-01 row every read assesses ok and only update_issue is tool_unavailable;
find_dropped_events is not pinned, and update_issue stays a write, irreversible.
docs/plans/integration-readiness-matrix.md:
the Sentry row records the re-pin and the Triage precondition;
C6 now names that it needs a Triage-consented row;
the C9 tool count goes from 12 to 11.
Tests
hostedMcpEntry.test.js passes 57 of 57. With the 12 other suites that load Sentry's entry or the broker, 452 of 452 pass. tsc --noEmit is clean. On sentry.ts, eslint reports 0 errors and only max-len warnings, all on vendor description strings, fewer than on main.
Reverse checks. Each mutation was applied, the suite run, and the file restored.

Review round
A fresh Opus-class subagent reviewed d72563a and filed GATE: HOLD. It had one must-fix. The first version dropped update_issue on the claim that Sentry had moved it behind the dispatcher. Sentry's source shows it hadn't: this row lacks Triage. The claim was wrong in the code comment, the test and the matrix, and it would have marked C6 not walkable. 03a6137 fixes this as described above. The reviewer's two should-fix items are in it as well (the matrix's leftover counts, and the fixture recording the row's skills), plus its header-pointer nit.
CodeRabbit
CodeRabbit's review of d72563a raised one Minor point in its body, with no thread. The C9 arms that depend on the writer still read as open work after C6 was marked not walkable. The point was right about that version. Its fix, marking those arms not walkable, followed from the same wrong claim. With update_issue kept, those arms are walkable on a Triage-consented row. The matrix now states that precondition on the Sentry row and in C6. The C9 count is 11, and the leftover "12" counts are corrected.
Its review of 03a6137 raised one point in its body: the Sentry row still said #2329 pins 11 reads, but since this re-pin the pin is 10 reads and update_issue. Taken in ed6c5f7. The row states the current count, and the 10-25 walk's "11 reads" is marked as the count at the time. The reviewer had raised the same nit.
After merge
Once this is deployed, a read grant's search_issues call on commonly.me should assess ok. The connector-cards capture then reruns.
Residual
Nothing told anyone about the drift. The assessment wrote one log line while seven Sentry reads were dark. Routing a tool_drift assessment to the connector owner is a separate change. tool_unavailable alone can be the row's own consent, as here, so it can't be the signal.
Sentry changed seven read schemas, so seven of its ten reads, search_issues
among them, were refused tool_drift on commonly.me. The changes: a nullable
string respelled from anyOf to a type array, minutes added to the `period`
pattern, and `1h` added to search_issues' period enum. None adds a property
or a fetch target.
It also stopped listing update_issue (now behind the by-name dispatcher,
which stays excluded), find_dropped_events and Seer, so those pins go too.
The entry is now ten reads and no writer.

Walkthrough
The Sentry pin now reflects the November 1 capture’s search schemas and no longer pins find_dropped_events. It retains the October 19 Triage-era update_issue pin. Tests and readiness records reflect the two captures and Triage-consent requirements.

Summary
Refresh captured catalog and pinned tools backend/__tests__/fixtures/hostedMcp/sentry-tools-list-2026-11-01.json, backend/integrations/hostedMcp/sentry.ts
Adds the November 1 capture. Removes the find_dropped_events pin and retains the October 19 update_issue pin.
Updates nullable-field declarations and time-window values across seven search schemas. Moves each affected input schema’s $schema declaration to its beginning.
Align tests and readiness records backend/__tests__/unit/services/hostedMcpEntry.test.js, docs/plans/integration-readiness-matrix.md
Tests compare the pin against both captures and expect update_issue to be unavailable against the newer capture. The readiness matrix updates tool counts and Triage-consent criteria.
The Sentry pin and readiness record distinguish historical observations from the current tool set, and no concrete merge-blocking issue remains.

Explanation
The description is specific and tied to the changeset. It explains that seven Sentry read schemas were refused with tool_drift, and that the PR re-pins them to a 2026-11-01 tools/list capture. It lists the changed files (sentry.ts, the new fixture, hostedMcpEntry.test.js, and the integration-readiness matrix), the reasoning for keeping update_issue on its 10-19 pin, the test results, and the reverse-check mutations. This matches the summary and the objectives, so the check passes.

Mark the writer-dependent C9 arms as not walkable.
This PR marks C6 as not walkable. Some C9 checks depend on the same writer, but they still read as open work:
Line 214, Revocable: the check needs "an update_issue call parked before its grant is revoked". The pin no longer contains update_issue, so no call can park.
Line 214, result: the result column still lists "the 12 tools under write-with-confirm" as unverified.
Line 60: the open TASK-308 arms still include "the 12 write-with-confirm tool bounds".
Grant panel: line 192 says the panel offers write-with-confirm only for an entry with a write tool. Sentry now has no write tool, so a walker cannot create that grant.
As written, the matrix asks for checks that cannot be done against this pin. Do the following:
Mark the write-with-confirm bound and the parked-call revoke arm as not walkable since the 11-01 re-pin.
Keep the disconnect-revocation and get_sentry_resource-without-url arms open. Both still apply.
Update the matching text on Line 60.
As per path instructions: "flag a claim that names a file, function, field or tool that does not exist or behaves differently."

The reason given for dropping update_issue is contradicted by Sentry's source. The doc then records C6 as unwalkable on that false premise.
Where the claim appears:
backend/integrations/hostedMcp/sentry.ts:5: "Sentry moved update_issue behind its by-name dispatcher".
sentry.ts:12: "update_issue, find_dropped_events and Seer left the list".
backend/__tests__/unit/services/hostedMcpEntry.test.js:830, the same claim.
docs/plans/integration-readiness-matrix.md:60, :97 and :213: "C6 cannot be walked until Sentry lists a named writer again" and "not walkable".
The PR body's table says the same.
What Sentry's source shows, at getsentry/sentry-mcp main:
packages/mcp-core/src/tools/surfaces.ts still lists update_issue and analyze_issue_with_seer in TOP_LEVEL_TOOL_NAMES, the default tools/list surface.
tools/catalog/update-issue.ts:630 declares skills: ["triage"], and analyze-issue-with-seer.ts:34 declares skills: ["seer"].
The only change to that list since 10-19 is #1700 (a234d1473, 2026-10-28), "Defer find_dropped_events". It moved onlyfind_dropped_events behind the dispatcher.
So find_dropped_events really left. update_issue and Seer most likely vanished from the 11-01 capture because the Lily-owned row was consented without the Triage and Seer skills, not because Sentry moved them. §3 says the same thing: the list "MAY vary by the authorization presented". The 10-19 capture came from connector-ops's row, and C1 (matrix:210) asks a connecting person to select Triage Issues. The new fixture records neither the consenting row's skills nor its scope.
Concrete failure:
The entry loses its only reviewed writer.
The readiness matrix declares C6 unwalkable, which would close or abandon a TASK-308 arm that is still walkable on any row consented with Triage.
The test now fixes the pin to equal one row's skill-filtered list (expect(entry.tools…).toEqual(capture.tools.filter…)). A capture from a Triage-consented row would therefore fail the test even when nothing upstream changed.
Not a security defect: dropping a pin only narrows what seats are offered. But it is a false claim that drives a readiness ruling.
Fix, either way:
(a) Keep the update_issue write pin. A Lily row without Triage then reads tool_unavailable for it, which is harmless. Re-capture from a Triage-consented row and re-pin it if its schema changed. A write pin compares exactly, so a stale one fails closed as tool_drift.
Or (b) drop it, but say truthfully why: the capturing row lacked the Triage skill, update_issue is skill-gated, and the pin is dropped until a Triage-consented capture re-pins it. Then mark C6 as needing that re-pin, not "not walkable".
In both cases, record the capturing row's consented skills in the fixture's method, and correct "Seer left the list" in the same way.
Should-fix
docs/plans/integration-readiness-matrix.md is internally inconsistent after the edit:
:60 still says "three C9 arms: the 12 write-with-confirm tool bounds", next to the new "10 reads and no writer" text.
:214's status cell still says "Unverified: the 12 tools under write-with-confirm", while its check cell now says 10.
The new fixture's method string should name the consented skill set, or grantedScope, of the row it was taken with. Every capture here is per-credential, and this PR shows the omission costing a misdiagnosis. The 10-19 fixture's scopeRequested and tokenShape don't help: the proxy always grants all five scopes, so scope can't show which skills were chosen.
Nits
sentry.ts header: the scope set is unchanged and now pins no writer. That still complies with §3's "keeps its vendor's read scope where one exists", because mcp.sentry.dev's proxy always requests org:read plus four write scopes (docs/plans/hosted-mcp-catalogue-sweep-2026-10-13.md:80). A pointer to that line would stop the next reader from flagging the four write scopes on an entry with no writer.
Pre-existing and not changed here: every search pin carries a free-string regionUrl, a URL-shaped input. It is outside this PR's re-pin check (no new property), but it is the one input on these tools that names a host. Worth confirming it was ruled in #2329's thread.
The test still lists analyze_issue_with_seer in excluded. That's fine as defence in depth (it reappears for a Seer-consented row). The header's "Seer analysis is excluded…" line agrees with that, but "Seer left the list" (sentry.ts:12) does not.
What I checked
Diff scope.git diff --stat origin/main...HEAD shows 4 files: the fixture, the test, sentry.ts and the matrix. No scope creep.
(1) Schema equality and assessment. A scratch jest file (since deleted) loaded the entry and the 11-01 fixture.
canonicalJson(pin) === canonicalJson(live) is true for 9 of 10 tools. The exception is get_sentry_resource, whose only extra live property is url.
assessEntryTools(entry, fixture.tools) returns ok for all ten. get_sentry_resource carries the detail "changed compatibly; using the pin".
Every live annotation set is {readOnlyHint:true, destructiveHint:false, openWorldHint:true}, and the pins match on the first two.
(2) Adopted changes add no property and no fetch target. I compared top-level keys against both main's pin and the 10-19 fixture: no properties added or removed on any tool. jq -S diffs of the 7 changed schemas show exactly three kinds of change:
sort / projectSlugOrId: anyOf:[{type:string},{type:null}] became type:["string","null"]. Same meaning.
period pattern: ^\d+[hdw]$ became ^\d+[mhdw]$. m is minutes in Sentry's statsPeriod, and the description now gives 30m as an example. It is a time-window value, not a target.
search_issuesperiod enum gains 1h. Under §3 a widened enum withholds until re-pin, and this is that re-pin. 1h selects a window and opens no fetch path.
Only description text changed in period and in the search_issues tool text, and the pin uses our own tool descriptions.
find_organizations and find_projects changed only their outputSchema. Their inputSchema is identical to 10-19.
I judge the adopted schema changes acceptable under the egress rule.
(3) Consumers of the removed pins.
git grep update_issue|find_dropped_events across backend, frontend, cli and commonly-mcp, excluding fixtures and _external: only the PR's own lines, a Linear update_issue string in V2AgentRuntimeGrants.test.tsx, and §3's prose.
Parked sentry.update_issue calls: §3 says "A pin the deploy removed counts as changed", so they end definition_digest_mismatch and never run.
Existing grants naming a removed tool: listToolsForGrant iterates the definitions (toolBrokerService.ts:864), so the removed tool is simply not offered.
Frontend tests reference no Sentry tool names or counts. The glyph catalogue is keyed by entry id, not by tool. frontend/node_modules is absent in this worktree, so I could not run the frontend tests.
Backend, run with PATH=/opt/homebrew/opt/node@22/bin:$PATH perl -e 'alarm 590; exec @ARGV' node node_modules/.bin/jest --forceExit over every suite that loads the hosted entries or the broker (hostedMcp*, grants.mint/read, toolBrokerService.hosted, hostedMcpToolDefinitions, toolInstallables, installableCatalogService, uiCard*, brokerRecord*, seed-builtin-tools, stagingSeed, native-hosted-grant-projection, integrations.delete.revokesGrants, instrument, outboundUrlGuard.vendorEndpoint): 34 suites, 758/758 passed.
npx tsc --noEmit is clean.
(4) No account data in the fixture.
Keys: server, capturedAt, method, toolCount, tools, and only name, description, inputSchema, annotations and outputSchema per tool.
No email addresses, no token-shaped strings (sntry*_, JWT, 32-hex), and no org slugs of ours.
URLs are json-schema.org, mcp.sentry.dev, us.sentry.io and Sentry's own doc examples. sentry.sentry.io/dashboard/542438 is also in the 10-19 fixture.
The only identifying word is "Lily-owned row" in method, which names no account id.
(5) Mutations, each restored with git checkout.
M1: in search_replays only, period.pattern changed back to ^\d+[hdw]$. hostedMcpEntry.test.js went 1 failed, 56 passed: the Sentry pin test, at :832 (verdict: "tool_drift" in the non-ok filter).
M2: sentry.ts replaced with origin/main's. Again 1 failed, 56 passed, the same test.
Final git status --short is clean.
Upstream evidence for the must-fix. Read with gh api repos/getsentry/sentry-mcp/...:
…Triage
Review found the reason given for dropping update_issue was wrong. Sentry's
own source (getsentry/sentry-mcp surfaces.ts) still lists update_issue and
Seer on its default surface, behind the Triage and Seer skills. The row the
11-01 list came from was consented without either, so its list leaves them
out. Only find_dropped_events moved behind the dispatcher.
So update_issue keeps its 10-19 pin, from a Triage row, and a row without
Triage sees it as unavailable. The test now says which capture backs which
pin, the fixture records the inferred skills, and the readiness matrix
gives C6 and the writer's C9 arms their real precondition: a
Triage-consented row.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_015AKgpQ2pr6xRMhN5mcfoHF
None. 03a6137 resolves the earlier must-fix, the misattributed update_issue removal:
The pin is back, unchanged. The update_issue block is byte-identical to origin/main's. I extracted the block from both files and diffed them: no difference.
The claims are corrected everywhere.sentry.ts header, test comment, fixture and matrix now attribute the absence to the 11-01 row's missing Triage skill, and C6 is restored to "not walked" with a Triage-row precondition.
Should-fix
None. Both earlier items are addressed:
Matrix counts.:60 now reads "the 11 write-with-confirm tool bounds", and :95 and :214 read "12 then, 11 since the 11-01 re-pin".
The fixture records the row's skills. It does so in a new consentedSkills field, honestly labelled "inferred, not recorded".
Nits
The Seer inference is the weaker of the two. The fixture says the row was consented without Seer. But Seer is defaultEnabled: true in getsentry/sentry-mcppackages/mcp-core/src/skills.ts, so its absence means someone deselected it, or a gate other than the skill hid it. The field already says "inferred", so this is wording, not a defect.
The C9 "11 reads" phrases on :60 and :95 are historical. They describe the 10-25 walk, when 11 reads were pinned; today 10 are. They are accurate as history, but a reader could take "11" for the current read count. Consider "the then-11 reads".
update_issue's drift is unverified, and the PR body says so. The fail mode is safe: a write pin is compared exactly, so the broker refuses it as tool_drift until re-pinned. Nothing to fix here.
What I checked
Head.git rev-parse HEAD and git ls-remote origin refs/pull/3283/head both give 03a6137241dd….
Delta.git diff d72563a31 03a613724 touches 4 files: sentry.ts (header plus the restored block), the fixture (method wording plus consentedSkills), the test, and the matrix. There is no change outside the Sentry entry.
Pinned tools.sentry.ts names, in order: find_organizations, find_projects, update_issue, search_errors, search_logs, search_traces, search_metrics, search_profiles, search_replays, search_issues, get_sentry_resource. That is 11 tools: 10 reads and 1 write, matching the matrix.
Factual claims against Sentry's source (gh api repos/getsentry/sentry-mcp/..., main as of 2026-11-01):
update_issue needs Triage. Confirmed: tools/catalog/update-issue.ts:630 has skills: ["triage"], and surfaces.ts keeps it in TOP_LEVEL_TOOL_NAMES.
Seer analysis needs the Seer skill. Confirmed: analyze-issue-with-seer.ts:34 has skills: ["seer"].
find_dropped_events is not top-level for any row. Confirmed: it is absent from TOP_LEVEL_TOOL_NAMES, and Sentry's PR #1700 (a234d1473) "Defer find_dropped_events" moved it to the catalog.
The 10-19 row had Triage. Confirmed: the 10-19 capture lists update_issue (and Seer).
"The scope set is the proxy's." Confirmed: mcp-cloudflare/src/server/oauth/routes/authorize.ts:56 requests Object.keys(SCOPES) upstream.
"Sentry grants all five scopes whatever the skills." Confirmed: routes/callback.ts:311/:334 sets the client-facing grant's scope to oauthReqInfo.scope, while skills feed only the separate grantedScopes (:288, :337). So scope cannot reveal skills, as the fixture says.
The header's pointer.docs/plans/hosted-mcp-catalogue-sweep-2026-10-13.md:80 says the proxy always requests org:read plus four write scopes.
Test semantics.
The reads must equal the 11-01 list minus excluded.
The 11-01 list must lack update_issue, and find_dropped_events must be unpinned.
update_issue is exact-compared (canonicalJson) against the 10-19 Triage capture, and is irreversible, class write.
On the 11-01 list the only non-ok verdict is update_issue: tool_unavailable, which is the right fail mode for a row without Triage.
Reverse checks. Each was restored with git checkout.
P3 (PR's): deleted the update_issue block (−107 lines). Result 1 failed / 56 passed, the Sentry test at :838 (entry.tools.find(... 'update_issue').irreversible).
P4 (PR's): reinserted origin/main's find_dropped_events block before get_sentry_resource (+135 lines). Result 1 failed / 56 passed, the Sentry test at :818 (pin list vs 11-01 list).
P5 (mine): prefixed X to one property description inside the update_issue pin, a description-only change to a write pin. Result 1 failed / 56 passed at :846 (exact canonicalJson). So the write pin is held to exact equality against the Triage capture.
P1 and P2 were already verified at d72563a by the equivalent mutations M2 and M1.

writer, update_issue; preserve the historical walk’s 11-read result unchanged.

On commonly.me, seven Sentry reads were refused with
tool_drift,search_issuesamong them. Sentry had changed their input schemas since the 2026-10-19 capture, so a seat granted those tools was not offered them, and a call to one failed. The drift check did its job, and this PR re-pins them.Found while capturing a real
search_issuesresult for the connector-cards work (TASK-337). The broker refused the call before it reached Sentry. What the 11-01 list shows
tools/listwas taken on 2026-11-01 at 22:13:49Z, with the Lily-owned row's own credential, throughlistHostedMcpTools. That is the client and outbound guard the drift check uses. It ran from ops-runner. The list has 12 tools, against 15 on 10-19.A Sentry list depends on the skills the row consented to, not only on what Sentry ships. Per Sentry's own source (getsentry/sentry-mcp
main,packages/mcp-core/src/tools/surfaces.tsandskills.ts),update_issueneeds the Triage skill andanalyze_issue_with_seerneeds Seer. This row's list has neither, so it was consented without them. The 10-19 capture was from a Triage row. Sentry grants all five scopes whatever the skills, so the scope can't show which were picked. The fixture records this as inferred.search_errors,search_logs,search_traces,search_metrics,search_profiles,search_replayssortrespelled fromanyOf: [string, null]totype: [string, null]; theperiodpattern widened from^\d+[hdw]$to^\d+[mhdw]$(minutes)tool_drift, re-pinnedsearch_issuesprojectSlugOrIdrespelled the same way;1hadded to theperiodenumtool_drift, re-pinnedfind_dropped_eventsexecute_sentry_tool, the by-name dispatcher, which stays excludedupdate_issuetool_unavailableanalyze_issue_with_seerfind_organizations,find_projectsget_sentry_resourceurl, which the pin leaves out on purposeok(compatible)All seven re-pins are read pins. Each change is a respelling with the same meaning or a wider time window, and none adds a property. So §3's egress check, which applies to each new property and to any value that opens a fetch path, has nothing new to clear. Minutes and

The pin keeps our own tool descriptions.regionUrl, already pinned, names a host, but Sentry'svalidateRegionUrlallows only the base host or its own region allowlist, over HTTPS, so it is not a caller-chosen target.Unverified: whether
update_issueitself drifted. It is a write pin, held to exact equality, and the same nullable respelling probably reached it. Only a Triage-consented row can show it. If it drifted, it will be refusedtool_drifton such a row, the safe direction, until that row's list re-pins it. No Triage row exists on commonly.me today.Changes

A fresh Opus-class subagent reviewed d72563a and filed
GATE: HOLD. It had one must-fix. The first version droppedupdate_issueon the claim that Sentry had moved it behind the dispatcher. Sentry's source shows it hadn't: this row lacks Triage. The claim was wrong in the code comment, the test and the matrix, and it would have marked C6 not walkable. 03a6137 fixes this as described above. The reviewer's two should-fix items are in it as well (the matrix's leftover counts, and the fixture recording the row's skills), plus its header-pointer nit.CodeRabbit
CodeRabbit's review of d72563a raised one Minor point in its body, with no thread. The C9 arms that depend on the writer still read as open work after C6 was marked not walkable. The point was right about that version. Its fix, marking those arms not walkable, followed from the same wrong claim. With
update_issuekept, those arms are walkable on a Triage-consented row. The matrix now states that precondition on the Sentry row and in C6. The C9 count is 11, and the leftover "12" counts are corrected. Its review of 03a6137 raised one point in its body: the Sentry row still said #2329 pins 11 reads, but since this re-pin the pin is 10 reads and
update_issue. Taken in ed6c5f7. The row states the current count, and the 10-25 walk's "11 reads" is marked as the count at the time. The reviewer had raised the same nit. After merge
Once this is deployed, a read grant's
search_issuescall on commonly.me should assessok. The connector-cards capture then reruns.Residual
Nothing told anyone about the drift. The assessment wrote one log line while seven Sentry reads were dark. Routing a
tool_driftassessment to the connector owner is a separate change.tool_unavailablealone can be the row's own consent, as here, so it can't be the signal.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
